  1. I know that Freshman Lauren Glover from Lumberton was Honorable Mention.....
  2. He came back this year.  His daughter is also here coaching girls basketball!
  3. Are you sure?  If so, that is still Jones, King, K. Johnson, Motl, Beckett and B. Johnson mising.  (2 srs, 1 jr, 1 soph, 2 fresh).
  4. EC is also missing from last year - Gibson, Gilfillian, King, Touchet, Lavergn and Davis - 4 seniors and 2 juniors.  That is a total of 10 players still playing basketball.  5 Seniors, 2 juniors, a sophmore and 2 freshmen.
  5. Johnson (Jr), Motl (soph), Beckett and Johnson (both freshman) and I am not sure who else from last year are still playing basketball.  Beckett and Johnson are both pitchers and Motl pitches some too, Johnson is a catcher.  I'm sure I am missing some but those are who come to mind in addition to Hank.
  6. So proud of the Bucs!  That group of seniors will be missed!  They are great young men on and off the court!  Fortunately EC has several more groups coming up who have been together since 1st grade!  The freshman starters have been undefeated since they started junior high basketball.  Three of them have been pulled up to varsity for the play offs.  The sophmore class also has a great group, two of which are also being pulled up for the play offs.  Couldn't be more proud of our EC Bucs... District Champs in Football and Basketball!  Who knows what else is in store for them this year!
  7. Great game tonight!  Both teams brought it!  Congrats to our Bucs!  Look forward to sharing the District title with the Kountze Lions... again!  LOL  Congrats Kountze! On another note, nice job by both schools on raising over $2000.00 for the cancer event tonight!
  8. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I am quite certain that I have focused so hard that I made the winning basket go in!
  9. It's sure to be a great game!  It doesn't really matter what size the school is... there are the same number of players on the court at one time as there are in a 5A school basketball games.  A rivalary is a rivalary and a quest for the district championship, is a quest for the district championship no matter the school classification.  Maybe the folks from EC  and Kountze are just more focused on the game tonight than running their mouth on here!  ;D
  10. The kid with 24 points off the bench is our Soph., Glenn Roberts.  He has been at EC since junior high though, but was formerly at Anahuac.  If I remember correctly he moved here in 7th grade.  Great kid on and off the court!
  11. Why does it say Yoe Wins in the subject already?  ("Re: East Chambers vs. Cameron Yoe Game Thread/YOE Wins/Comments").  I think EC at the very least deserves enough respect to wait until after the game is over to have that added to the subject.  That's just a little presumptious...
  12. Good luck to the Anahuac Panthers!!!  Will be rooting for you guys!
  13. Hardin's JV QB is also impressive!  He has a rocket for an arm and dead on every pass!
  14. Glenn Roberts is a remarkable kid on and off the field!  His father just suffered a heart attack on Wednesday and is still in the hospital (doing okay though).  I know he would have been very proud of his son tonight, as well as his JV sons (Dory & Trey)who played last night!
  15. The Buc players, coaches and fans had a tough time traveling to Newton for this game.  We realize and recognize that the Newton community is suffering.  Of course we wanted the win, but many of us would have been just fine with a loss to Newton right now.  Our coaches and players did what they felt Coach Barbay would have expected and that was to show up to play his team, just like had he been there.  It would have been disrespectful to him and to his team to show up with any less than our best.  No one at EC is rubbing in the win as someone suggested earlier.  In fact, it is rather bitter sweet.  No matter what, we will never get the credit for the win as many of you have already made clear.  We can't help the circumstances.  I am proud to be from East Chambers and am proud of the way our players, cheerleaders, drill team and our band represented our community at this game.  The band playing Amazing Grace to honor Coach Barbay was heartfelt. Our sincerest condolances to the Newton players, coaches, fans and to Coach Barbay's family.
