1. Wellll...here we are!  Been talking about this matchup since November.  Good luck to all and stay healthy!
2. I think Ozen did an outstanding job of taking Manvel out of their game and rattling the two young underclassmen stars for Manvel.  Manvel sure did not help themselves with all the missed free throws and layups either....but again, I think Ozen's pressure just contributed to that. Dont think BH has a prayer tomorrow...they should just go ahead and give the trophy to The O. ;D ;)
3. Great win!  You ladies are fun to watch!  Tomorrow we finally get it on as predicted.
4. Oven lookin good but a little too aggressive on D.  Don't get in foul trouble. Brown has 3 in 2nd.
5.
Good luck BH and Ozen should be some good games!!! I know Manvel is going to be Tough, but what about Clear Falls Hill Guy? Do you have a scouting report for us  :)
CF is a bit of "Cinderella Story".  They are a first or second year varsity program that went 28-8 and second to Manvel in there district.  They have no seniors, but a good post and good PG with solid surrounding cast.  They are a little erratic - played Manvel to an 11 point game once then got beat by them by 40.  We have had 6 common opponents that BH generally beat by wider margin...so "on paper" we should win, but thats why they the game.  Prediction:  Cinderalla is gonna be home thinking about next year well before midnight tonight I hope.
6. For Barbers Hill and Ozen.  Ozen vs Manvel, 3:30 pm @ The Campbell Center BH vs Clear Falls, 5:00 pm @ The Campbell Center Good luck and safe travels to Ozen.  Better jump on Manvel early and often.  Its going to take some very fundamental basketball to beat them.  With two 6'2' ladies that can jump out of the building you better not miss many shots because they will control the boards.
7. That is not good news at all.  Last year mine got the flu right before the playoff game against Ozen...she played with a fever and it was very difficult to watch.  Prayers that they will recover quickly...good luck, they still have 48 hrs!  Highly recommend Tamiflu!!!
8.
I'm all about Team Play (they = wins) but does someone have fim of the Evans layup? Not sure what to call it, revs, scoop, fade, power, maybe just unbelievable!
Ha...i think it can be found.  ;)  GOBLUE, you better upgrade your camera equipment when your's plays varsity next year.  She will fill a highlight reel in a hurry!
9. First off...TREMENDOUS fan support for the Lady Eagles and it is VERY much appreciated! Second...thanks liltex for the shout out to Shannon, but unfortunately she is a senior :( , not a soph Finally, "a win is a win".  BH was not sharp in all phases of the game but worked HARD despite shots not falling like they have been lately.  Malena Washington is an offensive BEAST!  She is a true, traditional shooter off the dribble/screen and her shot seemed to fall every time.  I look forward watching her at the next level. Central had very good season and posted some real quality wins this year like Katy Taylor, etc.  They played with class and it was pleasure to get to face them.
10.
Great Job ladies...keep fighting...Anyone know anything about manvel girls?
Great job Ozen!!  way to fight back...that was great to watch.  Manvel:  Prob the best team O has faced all year.  #2 player in the country for sophs - Brianna Turner - 6'2, one of the best freshman in the country - Jordan Hosey 6' plus, returning senior PG that is very good outside shooter.  If they dont get into foul trouble, will prob beat Ozen.  The key for O may be the press...I will not miss this one.  Good luck!
11.

Oh, you shouldn't have to worry about Canyon, they have only been to state tournament 23 times, it's not like they are playoff experienced.
Canyon lost last night to Vista Ridge (aka BH's head coaches husbands team).
Yes they did, but it was New Braunfels Canyon...  not THE Canyon!  Good to see both coaches still in it though!
12.
Ozen has to get past Manvel, which may prove to be a HARDER task than they might think.  I hope Both BH and Ozen make it to the semi's, sure want to see that game.  Winner is likely the State Champ if they can keep the momentum and stay out of injury/foul trouble.
Yeah, Ozen should get past Huntsville just fine, but there is a monster waiting for them later in the week.  Its one game at time right now though...Summer Creek gave them all they wanted Friday night and just cant look ahead to anyone.  And ....Dallas Lincoln, Mansfield Summit or Canyon may have something to say about who will win it all, ha.
13.
Great Season! Glad someone posted something for the JV. They have big shoes to fill following our outgoing Seniors. And I'm not going to try to fill HILLGUY shoes.
BH is in great hands and gonna be fine...the WAY they win may change a bit with the personnel, but results will be the same - WINNING.  The tradition of BH girls basketball is SAFE with this bunch of young ladies!!!  Keep your little ones involved in the game with Little Dribblers...get them in the gym where they can develop a joy for the game...volunteer to coach if you have it in you...and the tradition will continue!
14. Good luck to everyone in the next round (maybe not so much for Central  ;) ) Seriously...some good ball to be played tomorrow and each school should be proud to be at this point in the playoffs.  BH wants another shot at Ozen, but is DEFINITELY not looking past Central who has had great season and some real quality wins.  I'm sure Washington and company will be bringin the heat to upset the Lady Eagles.  Ozen should win but better not stumble against a very athletic Huntsville who will take advantage of what they are given. Post your thoughts on all the games here!!  Gotta love Girls HS basketball!
15.
I just wanted to recognize the Barbers Hill JV girls, 32-0 for the season! Way to go Lady Eagles! So proud of you!    :D
Dang right they did GREAT...the future is bright at BH!
HillGuy, I have to say goodluck to both teams here. Hope that it is a great injury free ball game. jr1979
Thanks, J...we will take the good luck and well-wishes!  Tuesday can't get here soon enough
17. Scoring barrage powers Barbers Hill girls over Kingwood Park By Stephen Whitfield [email protected] | Posted: Saturday, February 18, 2012 1:44 am For one half, Kingwood Park's girls basketball team played as well as it could have in limiting a potent Barbers Hill squad. But the Lady Panthers could not capitalize on the good defense, and their offense could not get going in time to keep their season alive. Kingwood Park lost 65-45 at Summer Creek High School in the area round of the Region III-4A playoffs. The Lady Panthers held their opponents to just 23 points in the first half, pretty low considering that the Lady Eagles average 73 points per game and put up 80 in their bi-district game. But Kingwood Park scored just 17 over the same timeframe, including four in the second quarter. It was only a matter of time before Barbers Hill started finding ways to put the ball in the basket. The Lady Eagles built a 12-point lead midway through the third quarter. The lead stayed around the 10- to 12-point range for a while. Then, with five minutes left in the fourth, the Lady Eagles pulled away after Kingwood Park's Jazmyn Johnson was whistled for a flagrant foul on Shannon Evans on what could have been a breakaway layup. Evans, who had 20 points in the game, drained the two free throws, and Barbers Hill followed with another layup to take a 52-36 lead. They didn't look back from there. Johnson scored 16 points to lead Kingwood Park, and Justine Luis chipped in 10.
18. The story...  (From Simmie Colson's girlzprepreport.com) Other than the ball game, Summer Creek had absolutely nothing to lose as they faced Beaumont Ozen, the states #1 ranked 4A team who were not only the defending Region 3-4A Champions, they were also undefeated. Ozen left the game undefeated as well as they won 55-43 but Summer Creek put up a courageous effort and at times the Lady Bulldogs appeared on the verge of pulling off the upset against the Lady Panthers. Summer Creek jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the first quarter as Kaitlyn Johnson knocked down 3 three pointers in the first five minutes of the game but an 8-0 Ozen run fueled by speedy Asia Booker and Sanqueisha Rawls 7 points which gave Ozen the lead after one 18-15. Rawls continued doing it on both ends in the second quarter and add her to the list of super athletes from Ozen. Nekia Jones has many nicknames and can do many things for a player her size was simply amazing at doing things you just can’t teach whether it’s ball handling or passing the ball with the best of them, her three pointer ignited a 14-2 run, but Creek just wouldn’t go away as Ravin Lott gave Ozen all they could handle on the defensive end coming up with several steals which led to baskets including one by her and Jazper Mabry to close the gap at the half 25-24 Johnson opened the third with her fifth three followed by freshman Jayla Calhoun’s bucket and it looked like I might see an upset. Then it happened, Amber Jones picked up her fourth foul with a little over five minutes remaining and Ozen went on a 16-2 run which included an and one from Beloved Brown and several free throws from Jones as they closed the quarter out 44-36. Booker went to work in the last quarter doing simply everything and although Johnson finished with six threes, Ozen proved a little too tough winning 55-43. Johnson led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 and the good news is they are young and have a bright future ahead. Jones led the Lady Panthers with 17 followed by Booker’s 15 as they move on to face Huntsville in the Elite 8. Ironically, these very two teams met last season in the Region 3 Final.
19. Good job Ozen...a win is a win...I'm sure there is story here.  Did SC slow it down?  need some analysis, Dim!
20.
Beaumont Central 49, Magnolia 41
Hello Central...its been awhile!  Congrats and see you in a few days!
21. Great game and KP came to play. It was close throghout till end.    Top scorers for BH - Shaw with 27, Evans with 20. Great effort by all the ladies!
22. Final! Huntsville 48 Dayton 46 Dayton should have won but showed their youth a bit and kept turning the ball over with some bad pass choices. Good season tho and they will be better next year!
23. Tie game with 2 left. Dayton looks a little rattled and turning ball over too much
24. After 3 Dayton 31 Huntsville 28 Huge BH crowd cheering on Dayton!
