  1. the offer to play at Lamar Wednesday was attempt to face the opposing pitcher on four days rest. Then our team (who leads 4A in home runs) only flipped between lcm/jasper because lcm and jasper fields had shorter fences than Lamar if could not catch pitcher on short rest. coach is just looking for any edge to help us. he gave example that we might have lost in first round if at Lamar and our lone HR ball had stayed in the park there. Said directly to me there was no risk in forcing jasper to flip home or home because if he lost the flip bears love jaspers new field because it makes our defense stronger and fence is reachable. says we played well enough there to be 3-0 vs three very good teams. I heard last night that even if our field is playable, but required hours if labor to get it ready by our players and coaches, he may possibly opt to just go to jasper tonight. he does not want to fatigue our team, in attempt to save those not at graduation energy for the actual contest. At one time in my life that decision would have been made in my best interest because I was in the dugout. now that decision makes me possibly drive to jasper but unlike many on here I understand why decisions are made and who he is making them for. and lastly just as I was about to submit I see ryker talk of not playing. who ever said anything about not playing? neither coach has ever mentioned not playing. just got message for alumni to come pull the tarp. others come if can.
  2. funny how it all works out. lcm flipped for Wednesday and would have agreed to Lamar on that day.
  3. One of the two flips we lost was for Wednesday. That would have been good to get it in before this rain chance increased. Odds of raining out here are same as odds of raining out at Lamar would have been. Both have grass outfields.
  4. Their new field really is amazing. I agree with the above statement. We are the underdog. Jasper has only lost three or four games all year. Hoping for a good game. Good luck to all.
  5. special guest throwing out the first pitch thursday. our skipper is asking for our baseball alumni to bring an extra dollar or two to pitch in on a gift for him. going to pass the hat just before game time. he added that it is a joint venture by he and his friend coach Kirkland and both communities.
  6. Fairly familiar with both sides of this one. I once participated in this same match up and have seen both teams play this year. Pulling for the bears. Not sure if there is any advantage that could have swung this one close to the bears having a chance this week. One game is definitely best chance, two of three would have been tougher to pull off as Huffman has way more pitching. Being at home may help, but I hate to say I just don't think that the bears have the horsepower to stay in this one. Rooting for the upset!
  7. Last time my Bears were the fourth seed from 20 we beat the district champion from 19. This has all been in the last three or four seasons and I get it mixed up which year was which first round opponent. I don't recall if that was the year we knocked out Kingwood Park or one of the two years we defeated Crosby. I do remember this part. We finished tied for third and did not play a seeding game or flip a coin, my coach chose fourth and to play the champion which I thought was nuts right up until we won. So it can be done. Whether it be Dayton over Nederland or LCM over BH. Side note....I am certain that he would not have chosen BH if that same scenario had arisen again this year. Good luck to my bears.
  8. Lcm pulled out a win in a great high school baseball game tonight 2-1 in 9inn. I don't make a lot of games anymore so I might miss a few names. But the starter Roddy, I believe, was lights out for 6 innings allowing just 1r. Wendt came in and got out of a bases loaded no out jam in the bottom of the 7th to keep the bears alive (with some great defensive work by the catcher) Went ended up going 3 in allowing 0r for the win. Landon Procella started the game winning rally in the 9th with a single and the pinch runner came around to score the game winner. What a game. Sure do miss this stuff. Keep up the good work Bears.
  9. What box score are you refering to? I couldn't find anything on it in the paper.
  10. LCM should be updated to 30 at this time if you will admin.  These post season victories are not easy to come by.
  11. elhector  hitman is not from baytown lee.  he is a crosby guy originaly with ties to kirbyville i think.
  12. I would like to add that the Lee group that visited here last night was a fine group of people.  The fans, the players, and the coaches were first class.  And what a pitcher they had.  One of the best I've seen in a while.
  13. hitman009  such harsh talk about our park.  if you don't like our ballpark, sign up for a different tournament next year.  i believe you are are in position to help make that decision over there at crosby. ...and if you are a gap to gap hitting team?  and you don't hit any balls in any gaps?  then what casey stengal?
  14. The Bears are very young. Will have their work cut out for them to just get in the playoffs.
  15. LCM This doesn't go back far enough but it is close.
