Sabine Pass and Woodlands Christian backed out on HD.  HD jumped into the Warren Bmt Kelly scrimmage to make it a 3way scrimmage.  I believe it is 7pm Friday at Bmt Kelly. HD jv will scrimmage at Kountze Friday 10am.

Burkevill will go far in football.  Well...I mean the playoff game will be a long ways away.  That's kind of like going far. 

well lets see. hd won last yr 70-0. however, hd lost about 40 points worth of offense. also, HI is about 20 points worse than last yr. so.....-20 and +30. i say about 50-0 hd. plus the games in daisetta this yr so it could be worse

It's really funny to me how everyone gets so fired up about this game. I mean, you cant really call it a "rivalry game" because it's pretty one sided historically speaking. You really have to be from the area to understand this particular game. HD has a funny way of getting by with a win even when out numbered and lacking better players. Dont get me wrong...I thinks its great for a team to get a win the first home game. And I'm a huge fan of liberty county schools. But this game is going to be more complicated than " whoever has better players will win". And you really have to have been around to understand that.

I think that the Liberty job was actually offered to Huckabay. Must not have had a good feeling about the facilities or what he would have had to work with. And when HD runs into a team that made it to the state final game, being "outcoached" may not have been the whole story. It sure helps to have the athletes that Mart has.

i heard from reliable sources that the only reason there are such good numbers is because the a.d. lets anyone and everyone participate without any consequences for their actions. including kids that did not previously play because of discipline and grade issues. i have a friend that works at liberty and i was told that as soon as the new a.d. took the job it was like night and day as far as discipline in the classroom is concerned. next year will definitely be interesting though.....because if they are still unsuccessful with 130 kids in the program then something else may be the issue. and i have a feeling that the "number" of players isn't going to matter in this case.

....just 1 guys opinion.... first of all. no question that all of the best coaches are coaching public high school, because you have to win with what you have. i saw a coach k comparison earlier. no offense to him or duke (because i LOVE college hoops), but every kid in america wants to play at schools like that. it sure makes it easier when all americans are knocking at your door. let coach k switch with the lamar coach....and then play each other. talent will make a good coach out of you in a hurry. i think that a good coach is someone that gets kids to buy into a successful system (no matter what it may be), then engrain that system into their brains from early on, and then get those kids to realize and play above their true potential. after some successful seasons, (and hopefully some luck with good players) then you can end up at places with traditions of excellence and great little league programs....like hj, silsbee, kountze, ozen...etc. because face it.....you have to have just a little help from the kids wearing the jerseys

the only one that didn't make sense to me was having co coaches. but...the fact that evadale went 10-0 and HD went 8-2 probably means that someone had it in for holyfield. nobody else should have even been nominated since he won the district. but the rest of the picks were about as they should be. ceaser was definately the best player in the district. although i personally thought the gravis girl was the best player evadale had. but they probably still would have won district if you take away any of their players
