Bragging about beating a Vidor team that had a difficult week dealing with a teammates death . It's stuff like this that reminds me of why noone has respect for PNG
I have nothing but respect for Vidor's team and I've offered condolences to Vidor on this site in regards to the tragic death of Matt Thomas. I was in the Vidor stands rooting for Vidor during their last playoff game and I was at the PN-G-Vidor game when our crowd paid tribute to Thomas several weeks after his death (just like Vidor paid tribute to Tip Durham when they hosted us after his death; there's a lot of respect between these two communities). And I'm not bragging about anything. I'm just not going to have somebody saying their team is somehow better than mine when my team won the head-to-head matchup. No respect? At least my karma's positive. In any case, this thread's been dead for more than a week. I don't see why it's still going on.
 2. The Cedar Tree in Jasper is also very good.

Heck, I was at your last game rooting for Vidor. But you still almost got shut out by PN-G.
We were closer to catching up than you were to shutting us out. We just ran outta time.  8)
I don't know. 22-0 two minutes into the fourth quarter is pretty close to a shutout.
It was 5 minutes bamakid 22-15 as a final score sounds pretty close to catching up. You were 15 points away from shutting us out. We were 7 points away from catching up. You do the math.  8)
Yeah, you were pretty close to catching up. But you didn't. And that's all that really matters here. Vidor lost. End of story. Did you have a good playoff run? Yeah. Was it an impressive end-of-season turn-around? Not the most impressive, but certainly nothing to discount. Did Vidor surprise a lot of people? Certainly. But Vidor still lost to PN-G, and no amount of playoff wins will change that. The fact is, as much as you like to rag on PN-G and its fight song and all of its fans and traditions, and as much as you like to talk and as much boasting as you and some of the other Vidor fans did in the weeks leading up to the game about how this is Vidor's year and how the Pirates were going to change their long habit of losing to PN-G, they came into the Reservation and almost got shut out. And the sad part is, Vidor shot itself in the foot against PN-G. You kept running the same sets with the same ground game. Your team had a grand total of two pass attempts - both incompletions - going into the fourth quarter and not a single WR was put in the game until the last ten minutes of regulation. Vidor had no success against the Indians until it finally changed things up at the tail end of the game and PN-G had put in its reserves, and by then any hopes of a win were out of reach. Now you keep talking about math. A famous mathematician and physicist once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results each time. Vidor did the same thing for more than three quarters and scored a total of zero points in the process. Are you sure you want to keep this math argument up?

Wasn't talking about the score bamakid.  ::)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was Coach Faircloth who benched Doty, not the referee, and Doty came back into the game later on. Could be wrong about that - it's only been eighteen months - but I seem to remember listening to that argument play out and it wasn't the ref who ordered Doty to the bench. And I know you weren't talking about the score. I wasn't either. I was just pointing out that Doty was undefeated against Vidor as varsity quarterback. So I reiterate, who was it who had the last laugh?
I'm 100% positive i heard the ref tell the coach to get doty off the field. So, IMO that would be the ref benching Doty.
And I never heard that. I do know Faircloth ordered Doty off the field, and I'm pretty sure if the ref had thrown him off the field he wouldn't have played again that night, and I seem to remember him being back in the game the next time PN-G had the ball.

I guarantee you that the complaint from baby wasn't even read. It came in as a concern and her email auto replies that garbage. Honestly, the only way to really make a stink about this is for another media outlet to do a story about them. If I was the mayor of Vidor, I would ask the Orange Leader and the Beaumont Enterprise to address it. Better yet, the Examiner. They tell it how it is.
I agree the letter is written in a vague manner, which is what every attorney says to do in these situations.  Fact is I never wrote this woman, so either she was told to respond or someone wrote a response for her.  I wrote a letter to the "non-managing directors" (which is fancy term for ethics committee) who has way more stroke to communicate up the chain.  The fact that Spittle's boss wrote the letter at least bears some weight that they are aware fo the issue.  I doubt it will matter much anyway, Josh has 1 foot out the door and continues to shoot himself in the foot week after week.  He evidently blew-up on air last friday and almost went to blows with a co-worker.  Won't be long, he's a fool.
You give 'em enough rope....

I can come up with excuses too man like the fact that if we would've put in our other QB before the 4th quarter he would've had more time to come back and we would've won. Or if Bolinger had been completely healthy yall wouldn't have been able to shut down our running attack the first 3 quarters and we would've won. I can go on and on man. You got three rounds deep. Is it good? Yes. It's also the furthest Vidor has been in 47 years. PN-G made it that far in 2010 while the Pirates sat at home, and we still had the Pirates well in hand head-to-head in 2011.
When did this become about head to head matches and how far you made it in 2010?  ???
When did it become about how far Vidor made it in the playoffs?
When someone from YOUR fan base made this comment.
It will always be: I-10 Vidor 0

All he did was bring up an old joke told by every fan of every other school in 20-4A. You expanded it by making the conversation one about this year's playoff runs. If you can expand the scope of the conversation like in that sense, why can't I expand it to include head-to-head match-ups and previous playoff runs?
Because frankly if you bring in head to head matches then we will be here arguing all night long about which one matters more. I've been saying all year that Vidor has a special team this year and yet everyone kept saying stuff like Vidor doesn't have the winning tradition and we haven't won a playoff game in almost 50 years and all that blah blah blah  but look where it got them. IMO there is only one team that can talk trash against us that i can't say much against and thats ned because they beat us and they went just as far as us in the playoffs. I mean after all the playoffs is what matters right? BH can go on and on about there 9-1 season but that record doesn't make a bit of difference if you can't go further than the first round in the playoffs.
I'll admit, Vidor surprised a lot of people, myself included. I was impressed with the determination and focus Vidor had against Angleton - that was a total turnaround from what I saw when Vidor played PN-G. With that said, you can't claim one team is better than nother just because it went further in the playoffs. Head-to-head matchups come into play as well. Vidor never faced the playoff opponent PN-G faced, so you can't honestly say that PN-G is somehow inferior simply because we didn't get as far, even though we still beat you. Anybody who knows anything about Texas high school football knows that Dayton has been a 4A force to be reckoned with for the last ten years and they have a one man scoring machine in that kicker. And for the record, I think if anyone in 20-4A can claim playoff bragging rights, it's Ozen. They faced the toughest playoff competition week in and week out and took it all head on.
And I have two for you: "field goals." Vidor deserves props for getting as far as it did, but you and I both know the Vidor defense wasn't the top defense out there. Dayton's kicker can put it through the uprights from fifty yards out. He had five field goals for Dayton and three of those were from way out towards the middle of the field. Take away the three field goals that no other high school kicker in the state could have made and you have a PN-G win by four points. Don't get me wrong; I'm not making excuses, but let's understand some things before we go making fun of somebody else's playoff run. Vidor would have been every bit as defenseless against a kicker like that as PN-G was.

 20. For steak, Saltgrass on IH-10 in Beaumont is a personal favorite. Larry's French Market on 366 in Groves is good for cajun food and The Schooner on HWY 69 in Nederland has really good seafood. Also, if you like Mexican food, I recommend the Tequila's on Gulfway in Port Arthur.

People picking on Vidor for racism is punishing current Vidor residents and, most importantly, Vidor kids for crap that happened 40+ years ago. It's akin to demanding reparations from families that owned slaves 150 years ago; the Vidorians of today have no control over what happened four decades ago. I was in and out of Vidor almost once a week in high school. I know plenty of people from Vidor and I would probably have more funny Vidorian stories than anybody at that radio station. That said, this country isn't going to get past racism until people learn to forgive and forget things that people who are now dead did before most of us were born (and that goes for people of any race). It's one thing to pick on a community, but it's something entirely different to drag out a dark and buried past. There's probably no real legal recourse, but I bet those announcers would shut up pretty quickly if half the town of Vidor called in during the radio show for a few days in a row.
