  1. LOL...Patton is no where close to being the best rb to ever come through Jasper..probably not even in the top 20...
  2. A few things here: 1. Ozen and Central are not weak 4a teams, by what standards do you make that assumption. 2. Newton IS ahead of Ozen in the polls, so why even keep bringing that up? 3. WOS had the same amount of first place votes as WB, they just didnt have the same amount of points. This is something that could change very quickly. 4. We did have a Lumberton voter participate, and he himself placed Ozen ahead of Lumberton.
  3. through 2 weeks of the new poll... we have had 12 games that consisted of two teams in the poll... only twice out of the 12 games has a team won that was ranked below the team they were playing..That means our poll has been over 83% right thus far. The two times the poll predicted the wrong outcome of the game was when then: #19 East Chambers defeated #17 Orangefield and last week when then #13 Lumberton defeated #12 Bridge City so basically, if you want to win the pick'em contests, look at the rankings and you'll have an advantage over everyone else
  4. It wasnt a rumor..I confirmed that the words did come out of his mouth. Thats why its still up here. Rumors have no basis, and this story does.
  5. I have said it before and will say it again...you can put as much stock as you want into the top 25. Look at the classification rankings. Thats is why we do this, so we can gauge how strong all the teams are in classifications. There is no way to have a legitimate regional poll, just based off of win loss records. Sure we could put all the teams who are undefeated ahead of the ones who have lost, but what is the point in that. Do you really think a 2a school can beat West Brook? I hope not. The voters are instructed to vote based off of who they think could beat who. This isnt like the AP poll where all the teams being voted on are in one classification. These teams range from 1a-5a.
  6. email I received form Shawn Clynch of KTRE Lufkin Ironically, we interviewed Gilbert Moye today and he gave us NO indication that he will be transferring from Diboll to Jasper. In fact, Moye said he just got his grandmother moved back to Jasper in her new house. Also, Moye will eligible to play for Diboll one week from this Friday or the following. Currently, the Diboll coaching staff is trying to work things out with the U.I.L. Gary Martel, the Diboll head coach, said they will be playing Gilbert in Diboll’s jv games until he is cleared to play by the U.I.L. Gilbert did say he will be on the field when Diboll plays Liberty.
  7. I have several sources checking into it...apparently Gilbert was in Jasper this weekend and told several people that he was moving back to Jasper and would be able to play in two weeks. I have this from some solid sources. Now, I believe 100% that he said it, but cannot confirm that it will or is going to happen.
  8. I voted Lumberton ahead of Ozen...So I cant explain, that one...maybe some of the other voters can come on and explain it...I assume it has something to do with the schedule Ozen plays vs the one Lumberton plays
  9. the rankings by classification...thats why we do them...you can put as much stock into the top 25 as you want
  10. [Hidden Content] Let the talk begin!!
  11. Folks, laugh all you want, but Jasper will make the playoffs..I saw something tonite, even in a loss, that gives me tons of hope. Those boys showed heart. Anytime you hold Newton to one offensive TD, thats something to be proud of.

  13. dont know any specifics but I do know Newton's JV beat Jasper's freshman team. Jasper JV team will suit up with varsity tommorow night
  14. This is the first time to my knowledge that there has ever beeen a funeral at Jasper High School..RIP Coach Spoon
  15. Services for Coach Weatherspoon will be held at the Jasper High School gymnasium on Saturday, September 16, 2006. A viewing will be from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Lloyd Weatherspoon Track Club at First Bank & Trust East Texas. If you need additional information, you may contact Coleman’s Mortuary at 384-3711.
  16. based off of traffic, outside of the Rivals and Scout Networks. This according to Alexa.com Also, SETXsports comes in at #5 in Southeast Texas currently, only behind the major media publications. What great success this site has had since its opening in January. I would like to publicly thank the staff for all the hardwork they have put in and every single member who has contributed to this site..Please continue to spread the word
  17. He's kin to shawn, but not an immediate family member
  18. Bay City looks like they are down this year...With that said..They always play WO-S tough..We dont see any reason why it would be any different this year. We just believe Nederland is simply better than Waller. We'll all see here in a few days.
  19. Jasper Track and Football Coach Lloyd Weatherspoon passed away earlier this morning. Please be in prayer for the family. I am good friends with his son and I know this is going to be tough on him. Coach Spoon has coached in Jasper for decades and led the Bulldogs to a handful of state championships in track. He was also a part of the coaching staff for several good football teams and was a student and fan favorite. I personally believe that he was the best ever coach to come through Jasper High School. Coach Weatherspoon will be missed greatly. Once again please remember his family in your prayers
  20. Good to see Newton moving on up..I still feel like the AP voters are idiots for not having Tatum on Top
  21. This poll is done by a combination of about 10 different voters...if the voters dont vote for the 1a teams, then they dont show up on the rankings. If another team impresses the voters, there's always a chance that they will jump ahead of other teams, even if they havent lost. There will however be some sort of rankings put it in place for the 1a's and the remaining 2a's who were not included, before the start of district..stay tuned on that. If you disagree with the poll, that is fine. It is just a poll. There is nothing wrong with coming on here and letting us know why you think your team should or should not for that matter be on the poll. In fact it is encouraged. ..Thanks guys
  22. The Top 10 1. West Brook-250 The Bruins survived a close one in the second half of the Beaumont Bowl Friday. Nevertheless, they played a tough Central team, and showed a lot team character coming back to win, after falling behind 14-0. We will all find out what West Brook is made out of when they face the always tough and talented Spring Westfield. 2. WO-S- 237 The Mustangs come in once again at #2 this week after defeating their cross town rivals LCM Friday Night. WO-S may have been taken by surprise a little, when LCM came out and played them close in the first half, but the Stangs had no problem with the Bears in the second half coming away with a 35-14 victory. Look for Bay City to give WO-S a fight this week. 3. (Tied) Central- 227 Even after losing a tough one Friday to West Brook, The Jags still come in at #3 this week. If there was every any doubt that Central is the real deal, we can all throw that out the window. The Jaguars gave their cross town rivals all they wanted and more. Central should get back into the win column this week after playing a not so good Houston Sterling team. 3. (Tied) Memorial- 227 What a huge win it was Friday for Ronnie Thompson and his Memorial Titans. PAM held off the surging Ozen Panthers and secured the first ever win in the Thompson Era. Memorial jumps up into a tie with Central for the 3rd place spot in our poll. 5. Nederland- 203 Remaining at #5 this week, Nederland handled a Forest Brook easily and got into the win column for the first time in 2006. The Bulldogs shouldn’t have a problem this week when they face Waller. Look for Big Ned to cruise into district play riding a two game winning streak. 6. (Tied) Ozen- 189 Ozen loses no ground in the rankings this week after a heart breaking loss to Memorial. The Panthers showed Southeast Texans something by coming back in that game after falling behind big. Athleticism makes Ozen a legitimate playoff contender. Seguin up next for the Panthers. 6. (Tied) Dayton – 189 The Broncos rebounded nicely after losing to WO-S in Week Zero. Dayton put together a solid game against a Nacogdoches team that many believe have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs in a tough 12-4a district. Friendswood should be another good test for Dayton this week. 8. Newton- 182 The Eagles apparently haven’t lost a step from last year. This is truly a program that never rebuilds, just reloads. An impressive victory over 3a Crockett, and solid play from the Newton Offense leads us to believe Newton will be there in the end this year as they always are. Big game for the Eagles this week as they take on their arch rivals, Jasper at The Boneyard. 9. PNG- 175 PNG bounced back nicely after losing to a great Brenham team on Friday. The Indians jump up one spot this week after a good win against Crosby. PNG has a huge game this week against Silsbee. We should know a lot more about the Indians after this one. 10. Silsbee- 167 Dropping down one spot this week is Silsbee, even after a win against Houston Sterling. The Tigers put up a great offensive showing, but an average at best defensive showing. Silsbee will have their chance this week to get their spot back as they come into the Reservation to take on #9 PNG. 11-25 11. Barbers Hill- 152 12. Bridge City- 135 13. Lumberton- 128 14. East Chambers- 108 15. Kirbyville- 101 16. Jasper- 74 16. Hamshire-Fannett- 74 18. Vidor- 72 18. LCM- 72 20. Kelly- 69 20. Hardin Jefferson- 69 22. Orangefield- 49 23. Huffman- 46 24. Deweyville- 33 25. Anahuac- 12 The Rest Liberty - 9, Woodville- 1 Rankings by Classification 5a 1. West Brook 2. Memorial 4a 1. Central 2. Nederland 3. Ozen 4. Dayton 5. PNG 6. Barbers Hill 7. Lumberton 8. Vidor, LCM 10. Huffman 3a 1. WO-S 2. Silsbee 3. Bridge City 4. Kirbyville 5. Jasper, Hamshire-Fannett 7. Hardin Jefferson 8. Orangefield 9. Liberty 2a 1. Newton 2. East Chambers 3. Deweyville 4. Anahuac 5. Woodville
  23. If you want the Beaumont Enterprise to have Silsbee Stats, then you can call them in after the game is over. If you know someone who can or wants to do that, pm me and I'll get you in contact with the proper people. I even want to say that there is a little pay involved, but dont quote me on that
