*Cleveland at Coldspring Updates*/Cleveland wins 72-61

Recommended Posts

Cleveland defeats Coldspring tonight 72-61. The game was called with 12 seconds remaining because the two towns have proved once again that they can't be in the same gym thru an entire game. It's so sad. Tonight's altercation was started by some Cleveland fans and some Coldspring's players. I feel bad for our Indian team because they played so hard and were disrespected by their own fans. It's real simple Cleveland fans, support your own team and let the rest go. You don't have to cheer for your opponent but you always have to respect them. Great win Indians! Roll Tribe Roll!

This has been an ongoing issue for Cleveland for years...I know many schools have some bad apples.  Its a shame that some have to ruin things for all.  Hopefully one day soon this will end.

[/quote]I will continue to hope for that but I won't hold my breath. I wish the student body could just embrace the fact that their team has the potential to be one of the better ones in the state. Lets just focus on that for a change.

Exactly...and in some cases it isn't even the students...its their parents.  That is just a shame.

Its a shame, the game ended early bcuz of the fans,  but I wouldnt go as far to say, it the parents of the student athletes.  The rowdy fans  would be people that have been out of  HS for 5 to 7 years & some were recent grads. Im not exclude all fans, but to cast shame on the parents, that not respecting the student athletes.

I wasn't at this game so my reference to parents wasn't directed at this particular case and not even to Cleveland it is just something I have observed through the years.

The majority was the students that graduated 5-7 years ago but with 5 mins still let in the game two 40-50 year old women sitting three rows up from the Coldspring's bench taunted two players continuosly. They was standing screaming and waving there arms specificlly at two coldspring players demanding them to say they suck and sit on the bench. It only escalated the other fans and those two players to make comments back. The Coldspring Coach should of had them removed from behind them or had a meeting with the refs and/or security. Just my opinion.

My statement was to point out, the majority of the rowdy fans, the recents grads (5-7yrs). Also, if you re-read, I said, " Im not excluding all fans." You may have seen two adults. Im pointing that the rowdy fans consisted of a large portion recents grads and not parents. Two adults dont represent all the parents in attendance. JMO.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
