1. They just can't get it together. We have several young players but mostly there are poor fundamentals, can't shoot consistently, lack of intensity until they are down, poor plays and/or line-up by coach, no one crashing for the rebound, and basicly not everyone on the same page. They press and some times it works and sometimes it doesn't but the coach should make a on the spot changes to different press before they give up 10-12 points. Shepherd almost came back with 10 straight points from under the basket with their press break. The coach is making changes and that is all you can ask for from him but sometimes it is 50/50 if the players show up to play or lay down. Simple pick-and-rolls will stop the poor passing they are doing which is our biggest problem and will open up the three in the corner. This team is not geared for high level plays. Just my thoughts as a fan. I hope they get it together.
2. The majority was the students that graduated 5-7 years ago but with 5 mins still let in the game two 40-50 year old women sitting three rows up from the Coldspring's bench taunted two players continuosly. They was standing screaming and waving there arms specificlly at two coldspring players demanding them to say they suck and sit on the bench. It only escalated the other fans and those two players to make comments back. The Coldspring Coach should of had them removed from behind them or had a meeting with the refs and/or security. Just my opinion.
3. They have two kids Dumas and Gray that can shoot. They also have a strong rebounder Harrell that will foul out. Run Dumas until he cant shoot, pass over Gray's press, and box out Harrell. That should do it.
4.
Shepherd and Coldspring both have pretty good tight ends. the kid from Coldspring is tall and long and gets alot of jump balls. the kid from Shepherd is a real big kid at 6-5/6-6 245lbs with good athleticism. Got Shepherd out of alot of jams and is a load to bring down.
Kid from Coldspring got 1st team TE and was hard for Safeties to hold down the middle. 6'5" 195 looks pretty fast after the catch. He was one of Coldspring's main receivers when Coldspring threw their three passes per game. LaMarque had 3-4 defensive players guarding him down the middle everytime he went out. Didn't see Shepherds TE, I think he was hurt when Coldspring played them.
5. No one said anything about deep runs, just making the play-offs before with that previous team maybe proof enough. But I think it was taught at a young age by there dad for them to hide certain plays until play-off time. Very sneaky coaches. They thrive on being the underdogs.
6.
I wonder when Coldspring is gonna get the respect that others in the area get.  I mean we do have some history of winning.  The last two years we have to the finals and semi-finals.  Seems like everyone is always against us.  Not sure what the deal is.  We are one of the smallest 3a schools in the state and we play like one of the biggest.  The whole wiping the floor with us and all is just disrespectful to me.  We may not have a Sherman Gilbert this year, but I still think we got enough to get it done.  I guess we will see come Friday.  I think LaMarque is very dangerous and very good.  I remember watching them on film before the first matchup and I thought oh my goodness I don't know if we can beat them.  Now seeing what this has done this year I think they can compete with anyone.
There is only one team hated worse than us (Coldspring), that is Cleveland. Always been like that from the 1980's- present, even with the little league teams. Just ask Cleveland. I wouldn't want it any other way. I like to see everyones best when we play them. Makes the win even sweeter, just like against WOS last year. All I heard was crickets from the third quarter of that game on, last year.
7. The last few years I noticed that the Barbay's hold their best coaching until Playoffs. All Jasper has to do is not fumble and maintain ball control eating up the clock. If this happens 34-28 Jasper.
8.
Which Cleveland football player was on the news for a scandal or crime? Don't base your opinion of Cleveland kids on something that someone in the past did. I am sure there was a murder of some sort in Houston tonight ... Are all Houston residents murderers? Get over yourself. As for the injury . . . It most likely occurred during play. It's football, it happens. I hope the young man heals and is able to return.  if he gets the chance to at college ball, I pray he is able.
Are you from Cleveland? Thats why they have metal detectors. (Everyone from the district should have metal detectors when Cleveland comes to their campus.) Lets see a quote from the news on just one incident,"Those charged included two top athletes at the local high school and adults with criminal records.". Wasn't the last AD fired or resigned after a fight was caught on video just before the 2010 play-offs and there was a scandel to cover it up? This type of stuff has been happening since I was in school in the '80's. My statement was "usually the kids are a bi-product of the adults" which means just keep watching the news. Hence the recent Wal-mart incident was probally a kid from the Cleveland School or a kid that grew up to be an adult that went to the Cleveland School.
9. If you look at the play calling second half, Barbay ran the clock out like he does quite often. He had two injuries and chose to play it safe. 95% of plays was in the middle. He knew he had the win. Our chop blocking calls are never intentional, most of the time they are reach blocks that get pushed over another blocker that is cutting or over a blocker knocked to the ground. They are taught to stay with their block until the whistle. Cleveland is different than 30 years ago, usually the kids are a biproduct of the adults. Just look at how many times Cleveland is on the news for scandels or crimes.
10. A few boys kept bumping Barbay to get him to break the all time record (73) on Tarkington and Splendora. They said the only team he would consider breaking the record on would be Cleveland. Must not respect them too much. He played some JV players on Liberty preparing for next year, thats bad enough, since talking smack at the track meet. And if it was a track meet they would win again, but it isn't.
11. The only thing holding score back will be Barbay, by playing safe with ball control and running every play that will eat up the clock. 48-14. But if he allows the players specifically the seniors to run and pass, then all time scoring record (73) on the line. 75-21 Coldspring.
12. I started calling Shepherd to upset some people early, after Coldspring played them. And just what I said, everyone under estimates QB Everitt in the open field. I must be a genius or maybe I know something about football. The only game I didn't call on the site was this one, but I did under my breath. Congrates Shepherd!!!!! Instead of worrying about Coldspring, Cleveland better worry about Shepherd. Boy does it matter when kids believe in a coach.
13. Thats why you get beat, the cleveland fans aren't working hard, and usually leave in 3rd quarter when the times get tough. We run sprints with the kids in Coldspring.......LOL
