I think, you do not know what you are talking about. ;)

I see Newton having a real decent chance of wining district...but they will have some competition, that's about as far as I will go out on that limb.  ;)

Back2Swag, I'm hoping the kids at Newton don't have the same thoughts as YOU! Newton doing well and beating the teams they SUPPOSE to beat! Have they played tough competition....ummm no! In my opinion Kirbyville will be more "BATTLE TESTED" considering we fixing to face a tough and physical Jasper team and I'm glad. The moral to my story is don't count the chickens before they hatch... 8)

I hate this kind of idiotic crap. A "cakewalk" implies a major degree of ease with which Newton will progress. EC has won the last two district championships and are poised to claim a third with a really good coach and team. Kirbyville is trying. Enough said there. Woodville always plays the Eagles tough. How does some idiot get "cakewalk" from this. And this is in district play, not counting the playoffs. I think Newton can win out with a couple of big "ifs". If we can stay healthy. And if this load of sophomores continue to improve. And there is always the luck factor. Get real. "Cakewalk", I don't quite see that. 8)

There reason that games are played because on any given night ANY team can be beat!!!  So to say cakewalk, in this district especially, is a little uninformed.  JMO

I agree, two big wins for Newton doesn't spell cakewalk. No reason to look ahead. One game at a time. Go Eagles!

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
