our pass defense needs work. bc got behind us a few, just couldn't catch the ball.

And how would u fix it? They're kids guy! They made 2 mistakes

I think it's robandana, he claims there not reading the correct way. Oh well u can't please em all

On BC's TD, they weren't reading the right way. We had three defenders in the vicinity of the receiver but not one actually picked him up. Napping. And yes I'm picky, and I hope they are too!! I'm one who believes we can go 10-0 and win this district if we play hard every play, 16 year olds or not. That's all I'm saying.

You wonder why people make fun of vidor fans? All of the above explains why. 45-7 win and yall still complain. What is so hard to understand that no team filled with 16 year old kids will be "perfect"!
BTW, I could care less what other people think about Vidor fans. In my 54 years I've found it really doesn't matter what you do because Vidor hating is pretty well a sport among some. Throw in the fact we have a good football team and it really fries their brains...ain't it COOL!!!

don't know why you percieve this as complaing. just simply stating an area that needs improved. in case you haven't noticed, alot of our district foes like to air it out. yes we had another dominating performance but their is always room to improve. and our defense is compiled of mostly 18 or fixing to be 18 year olds and i assure you that they want to be perfect. sometimes it takes perfection and that is where you should always set your goal.

btw. we could not say anything and people will still make fun of us.

that's one of the areas we need to work on.  saying we need to improve in an area is not being negative.

what do you think the coaches are gonna say come practice monday? or tomorrow during film?

Thanks dustoff. I'm not making an indictment of the defensive secondary by no means however my expectations are high given they are a veteran bunch and based on last year's performance. I believe they got lulled into thinking BC would be an easy victory with little firepower. They caught us napping a few times and we are gonna need to really up our intensity level in preparation for the puppies. Clear Brook is gonna be a good test this week. I'm sure Jeff and his coaches will be on top of it. BTW dustoff, great job tonight!!!

You boys are gonna make me so sad that I can't make my 800+ mile trek this year for a little Pirate Football.  I had accepted the fact until my parents decided at the last minute to go to the game and called me!  Yall did a great job last night.  Wish I could listen on the computer this year.  Love my PIRATES!!!

almost forgot, Quirante had a punt that went for 62 yards. thought it worth mentioning. i know we haven't punted much,(and we don't want to have to) but it was a dandy.

I don't remember it going for 62 yards, but it did check up and stop on BC 2 yard line.  It was a thing of beauty.

BC not having anyone back to receive the punt didn't hurt either.

    • But it's not a stretch... we have 7 that could go 7 innings. Not saying that it will happen but no reason to lie about it either. We have some great pitching on this team and have had 7 or more go 7 innings this season.
    • From the article:   "In a rare move, all three liberal Supreme Court justices recused themselves on May 28 from a case involving a lawsuit filed against them for rejecting a previous lawsuit that sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. In the case, the Supreme Court turned away a longshot bid by Raland J. Brunson of Ogden, Utah, who has gained notoriety among Trump supporters for his legal activism. The case at hand is known as Brunson v. Sotomayor. The petitioner sued Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson in their official capacities for voting on Feb. 21, 2023, to deny the petition for certiorari, or review, in his previous lawsuit, Brunson v. Adams." This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up
    • Funny how “MAGA” is considered a bad thing…. The MAGA crowd….etc…. Whoever doesn’t want to make America Great should leave.
    • That's an interesting take, but considering that an incumbent enjoys a HUGE advantage historically, I think Covey came pretty close to an upset. I don't care one way or the other - the biggest reason being that I live in Hardin County. But I have to think the Trump endorsement got Covey that close in the first place. His only recognition was on a very local level, virtually unheard of before the Trump endorsement. Otherwise, he probably would've lost by thousands of votes instead of a few hundred. Just my observation.
    • I think the interesting point is this… Trump backed candidates do better when Trump is on the ballot. Back in March Covey was up by 3%, and that skirt from Jasper pulled about 10%… and most people believed that her voters would go directly to Covey. Conventional wisdom was that Covey would be up by 10-12 points if all things went according to the pattern from March. That just didn’t happen. Typically turnout is lower in runoffs than in the primaries, and my guess is that Phelan had fewer votes this time around than last, but covey had WAY fewer votes. A friend of mine has been watching a similar runoff in central texas, and the results were similar. The MAGA guy just didn’t turn out the votes this May.    My opinion is that a large portion of the support these Trump guys are just that…. Trump supporters. They’ll vote down ticket according to MAGA directives when Trump is on the ballot, but when they can’t vote Trump, they just don’t show up at all.
