[size=12pt]The end of the 2011 season left the Central Jaquars in a very unsual position, on the outside looking in of the 4A playoffs as the Jaguars failed to qualify for the first time since 2007.  Coach Andrew Washington returns a young squad in 2012 as only eight starters return.  But with a number of playmakers on the roster, the return to the playoffs is an expectation, not merely a hope.

Returning starters: 3[/b]

Central returns three starters on the offensive side of the ball.  This year, though, the Jaguar fans will be hoping that senior quarterback Robert Mitchell (35-75, 348 yards, 2 TD passing; 74 carries, 435 yard, 5 TD rushing) will have recovered from injuries that kept him down for a good part of the season.  Toting the ball for Central will be running backs Xavier Jones and Damon Thomas.

Returning starters: 5[/b]

The Jaguars will be young on the defensive side of the ball as well, returning only five starters from the 2011 Central defense.  The Jags will be strongest right up front on the defensive line where defensive linemen Cameron Bean, Isaiah Petry and DeAnthony Sam.

The Jaguars will begin the season in Port Arthur against Memorial on August 31st.  The following week, Central will begin the Beaumont Bowl series with a tilt against West Brook on September 7th.  They conclude that series with their 20-4A district opener against Ozen on September 28th.  The Jaguars travel to Nederland for their regular season finale on November 9th.
