Good job bh im about to learn how to chant we can we will in my best im better than you voice. Keep it rolling against lc or galveston ball. If yall meet montgomery down the line that should be a good series but after the way yall handled brenham I dobt see any reason the region isnt barbers hills to lose. Good luck. There that didnt hurt so bad.

Possibly in reference to Coach Long's retirement announcement after the game last night.  What a storied program Brenham Baseball has been during his tenure.  Hope this forum doesn't lose BrenhamFan.

I'm not going any where!  ;) Looks like Magnolia West gave Montgomery a couple of close games, but in the end it wasn't enough.  We played below average and BH played great.  Even if we played our best, im not sure could have taken the Eagles this year.  They are playing phenomenal baseball right now, and will win the region and maybe state if they play the same way they played us.  Montgomery will present a challenge and if they let up at all, the Bears could take the region.  Montgomery can match one of BH's pitchers, but I'm not sure their bullpen has the depth to take the series.  I saw in the paper that Long's retirement was recommended by his dermatologist, to avoid skin cancer.  He did a lot for our program, and he'll go down as a big part of Brenham's history.  As for us falling off...  I doubt that will happen.  We have talent, and have a good returning core for next year.  Somebody will be given the keys to a Porsche and will be told just not to crash it.

One question for brenham fan. Is montgomery that much better than sf. Also I havent heard much about gb until recently but looked at their record and they had some quality wins and a really good record. I was going to wait until the next round to go check out a bh game but tha ball series might be a better one than I first thought. Hope bh stays focused.

I saw Montgomery both times they played us, (2-1 & 6-3, but both games were close) and I saw Santa Fe play 4 games in our tourney.  We beat Santa Fe 10-0 in 5 innings when we played them, and LCM should have beaten them, but had a late game collapse. Between the 2,  Montgomery was honestly the better team by far.

Barbers Hill is playing great, defense has been awesome, bats need to stay steady.  With 4 teams making the play-offs in each district and having 6 rounds before the State tournament, makes it tough.  As  Brenham passing the torch,  all teams have a long way too go before anyone can touch what Brenham has done over the last 25 years, it is amazing when you look at the number of wins and championships they have, to have a down year and make it 3 deep, most teams don't make it that far with the best teams that have come through their school.  Brenham will be back at the top next year again.  I dont see any team left with the pitching depth of BH or a defense like BH, if they can keep the sticks awake and stay steady at the plate they have a great chance of winning Region III.  BH has been fun to watch, just a lot of good players coming together and doing what it takes to win. Great all around TEAM..

Does anyone know how many other BH team has made it 4 deep and what year.  I thought the 07 team made Regional finals in the 4th or 5th round, but dont know the number of rounds that regional finals were back then. Hard to find any history on BH.

Brenham Coach Jim Long announced last night on our post game show that long time assistant Lanny Williams has been offered and accepted the head coaching position of the Brenham Cubs for 2013 on.  Well deserved and well earned from one class man the baseball is passed to another class act.

That's great news!  Lanny knows his baseball and I can honestly say, our program is in good hands.  Congrats to coach Williams!  Us Cub fans are behind you.

In 2007 Barbers Hill played Montgomery in Regional Semi's 4th Round. Montgomery won the series in three and lost to (Regional Final) Texas City in three on a walk off homerun in extra's to go to state.
[/quote]

Check that.
Montgomery won the 2007 series in two.  2-0 against Ross Hales and 4-2 against Kendall Thamm.

We would have beat them by 10 had the wind not been blowing 30mph in the field.

    • A few Board of Regents agree for sure. Some administrative changes were based in large part on those moves.  Sam Houston is the only one this remotely did any service and of course they moved on as well.
    • The greatest point on all of this, and exactly what makes it a great day in SE Texas is the commercials are over!!!!  Phelan wasn’t all bad, Covey wasn’t all bad, but by the end of it I would have voted for Brewster’s “None of the above!”  Politicians serve their own interests and everyone’s politician is bad (except for theirs of course).  I personally am for: 1) Higher fuel prices, 2) More taxes and restrictions on private property owners, 3) Cancelling student-loan and even credit card debt, 4) Covid restrictions (bring back masks) 5) Giving more tax money away to countries at war (except Israel), 6) Tearing apart the nuclear family 7) Supporting college kids to protest anything and everything they want with no consequences, 😎 Higher and higher food prices 😎  Go Biden/Harris - just MASA (Make America Soft Again), Beto for a high-cabinet spot.
    • Thanks for the info, I didn't check the primary vote count.  I was posing that, based on anecdotal evidence, many who did not vote in the primary showed up for the runoff, and apparently voted for Phelan.  My next door neighbors were two that voted runoff only and voted for Covey, so it went both ways I guess.   The Houston Chronicle posted quotes from Covey accusing many Dems of voting in the runoff.  Obviously if they were able to vote in the runoff then they didn't vote in the primary, unless the voted in the Rep primary to begin with of course. .  "Covey’s campaign released a lengthy statement after the results came in, calling Phelan an “Austin swamp creature and King of the Democrats.” The campaign accused Phelan of courting Democrat voters in Jefferson County to bolster his early vote numbers, but Covey did not say he would seek a recount." Anyway, it looks like it's a done deal, until November.
    • WooHoo, the RANGERS win today 6-1 and win the series with arizona. 1st series win in the last 6. Maybe things are starting to change!!!
    • That is what I thought but I figured you folks would be able to find it for sure. Was a little tougher back then with fewer teams in the playoffs.
