BLUEDOVE3
Watching Brewster Academy and Tilton Prep play on ESPN. They play with a shot clock. Personally, I'd give my vote for high schools in Texas to play with a shot clock.

Honest Abe
I would not object to a :35 clock, but would prefer to see a :45 sec shot clock. Not a fan of a team holding the ball at mid court for 5 minutes like what happened in the OT game between Central and Memorial in the Bulldog Classic. AggiesAreWe
No shot clock. Keeps the high school game it's "signature". Like seeing teams having to use some strategy in those situations.

As for intentional fouls being too rough, I would suggest that there are many "intentional" fouls that are too rough that take place in the course of a game, not just when a team is holding the ball. east texas bb
No shot clock. You would be taking some of the strategy and control out of the HS game especially in lower classifications from the coaches who made need to use the clock to create a certain tempo that gives their team the best chance to win. stevenash
Having a shot clock also permits those teams who do not recruit AAU players from all over the country another "legal" and "legitimate" method to deal with those issues. stevenash
One more thing Dove- I am VERY surprised you would advocate a shot clock. Since you are a champion of the "little guy" and the" underprivileged" in general life terms,( as in making things as fair and equitable as possible for everyone) I would have assumed you would be very much in support of anything (no shot clock) that would give the less talented and less fortunate teams a chance to compete. asary
Shot clock would be sweet. High school scores in the 30's are ridiculous. Push the ball, push the tempo. In other words play basketball.

asary
For those that say it would take away from the coaches using strategy, I say it would create much more need for strategy throughout the ENTIRE game.
Jake Sully
High school basketball needs a shot clock. It's another step closer to college basketball, so why not make the kids at the high school level more ready? It would change the game for the better. The three point line is fine. They just need to bring back the mid range jumper...lol
