I don't know.  I'm pretty mad at him for the 15 yd penalty that basically negated the big 3rd down stop for a loss in the 3rd quarter.  It gave them another chance at a TD and it is really what started the downward spiral.  You cannot get mad at the kids for anything when you, as an adult, cannot control your emotions.  It was a big game and whatever he was upset about probably was valid, but you cannot let it cost you in the game.  You just can't do that.

let me go on record to say that since they dont give coach of the year to the coach that wins district in the case of coach washigton last yr. i will say jeff mathews sould win it based solely on the fact that he keep his team together thru some tough times and got thm three rounds deep. first class coach.  i usually got with a bmt team but for ones jeff deserves it

Was on the sideline, Penalty was on our player for pushing one of their players after the whistle.  Coach Mathews was gripeing at the ref because the play before one of the angelton players head butted one of our players right in front of the referee and was not told anything.  Coach told him that it was his job (referee's) to protect his players.  I am glad that he was trying to protect our kids.

All I had to go on was what was being broadcasted and they said it was on the coaches.

The 15yd penalty you are referring to was a personal foul on one of the players NOT on Coach Mathews.  You may want to reconsider your accusation.  He was understandably upset at the players for not controlling their emotions.

Can you not read?  I stated that all I had to go on was what the broadcasters said and they said it was on the coaches.

We lose by 25 pts, and you make that false statement and all you can say is "that's all I had to go on."  If that was all you had to go on, I would probably refrain from making a statement as if it was fact.... Great Job Coach!
You mean you weren't even at the game? Some fan you are! You might want to know what's going on before you open your trap, I mean the best season in 47 years and you want to get mad at coach Mathews! The Pirates will do just fine without fans like you.

Everybody, please calm down. That one play was not what lost us that game. We ran into a better team, period. There were several things that cost us the game, that wasn't it. If you look at the nuances of football you will notice everytime Montana was around the ball, they hit him. By the third quarter, he was hurting and not moving well. They were bigger, faster and better coached than any team we've faced. If you want to pick one play, pick #9 catching the kickoff after we got within five 28 - 23 and running through our team like Forrest Gump. They have five legit D-1 players...#9 is headed to Houston. This thread was started about Jeff and the outstanding job he did with a team predicted to finish 7th in an 8 team district. Quit acting like Vidorians.....

There is something which sticks out about Jeff and it has nothing to do with football. Jeff cares about the kids and his passion is driven by wanting his players to succeed. There is just something different about this guy and it separates him from others. Jeff should have the Vidor job for life if that is what he wants.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
