Poor decision in Peewee game today.

I  saw this happen today in a game at Vidor. The score was 12 to 0 with under a minute to play. The losing team was not using timeouts to try and get the ball back but the winning team used all 3 of theirs to try and score again.Since the tie breaker for the playoffs is points allowed I saw no need for this with 8 year olds.JMO

I can understand your comment, but possibly the coach of the winning team was not aware of the tie-breaker system; however, the losing team's coach SHOULD have been calling time-outs to allow his team a chance to better the score on his kid's behalf.  Hopefully all of the kids had fun.  That is more important than anything.

So thats why two of the Vidor Coaches didn't shake hands with us. The timeouts were not to try and score again. We lost our QB a week ago and had to completely restructure. Up until this game we had not had one fumble. We lost 4 fumbles with 2 due to bad handoffs. The second half of the game we played a different QB ever other snap. We were just trying to get the 4 different boys that were playing QB as many snaps as possible so we could decide who we wanted to go with from here on out! If it would have been a blow out the timeouts would not have been called, 12-0 is not a blow out. Sorry if you got your feelings hurt, we were just trying to get ready for next week. Either way you have a good team and it was a very good game. And number 11 is a very special player for you. Good luck with the rest of your season.

I can understand if the score was 30-0 but 12-0 is a close game a fumble,  interception in the last seconds can change a game. I saw two games last year won in the last 30 seconds. I dont think the other team was being mean or unsportmanlike. This is football anything can change at the last seconds.

[/quote]I did not get my feelings hurt....I am not associated with either team. IMO..When the losing team does not wish to stop thw clock with under a minute to play the winning team should not try to tack on another score unless it is the tiebreaker to get his team in the playoffs or for playoff seeding. This is JMO and these things use to be done under the guidelines of sportsmanship.I guess times have changed.

Look P'68.  I think the coach of the other team explained himself.  No harm, no foul, no unsportsmanlike behavior.  Someone should tell the other team they should use timeouts to try and score at least once.  Learning to struggle and score is good for the kids to learn...don't ever just lay down!

    • To clarify, Dems love wars. They rage daily in the bluest of blue inner citicis. Chicago had 39 shootings over the weekend, 9 dead. Warzone. Baltimore, Memphis, Detroit, etc. I am sure was just as bloody. The blue body count rises daily. I am sure the blue defunding of police and releasing murders without any bail have nothing to do with it. Right?
    • Will probably be released by the Democrats come September.  Sound familiar?
    • Sure.  You reassign an employee and they leave voluntarily instead of being fired and being open to litigation.  The outcome is the same, but you are making my point.  The superintendent and AD and principal are all empowered to make personnel decisions.  Instead of accepting the decision made, you talk about lawyering up, no one else was reprimanded, railroad job.  I am old enough to remember when high school sports taught life lessons...accountability being chief among them.
    • I know absolutely nothing about the situation, but I do know head coaches of sports other than the AD have actual teaching assignments, and I know from my wife having worked in the sped department of multiple schools that it’s not uncommon at all for coaches to shirk those duties.  It could very well be that this was the case at BC.  Or not, I don’t know.  Just bringing this up to point out the fact that, although many coaches only want to worry about coaching, they generally have several other responsibilities at the school.  some of them neglect or ignore these duties entirely.  If he’s been written up for other issues before, it’s a dumb argument to say “he was punished for this and others were not”.  If he had a pile of write ups in his file and they did not then it makes sense that the punishments were different.
