Dup or not

DOGS in Two ;D ;D

I know Dogs can hit but havent you put doubt in BH pitching. Esp. number one. He has held good hitting teams to 2 to 3 runs. such as Bridge City, GCM, Lee, Clear Springs(5a), Vidor, Crosby and G Ball. all playoff teams this year with averaging more than 5 runs a game.

Who is Barbers Hill's No.1 & 2. ?
#1- Long
#2- I would guess Leggett (35.2 IP) or Wood (23.1 IP) would start Game 2. Next guy with more than 10 IP is Knotts (12.1 IP)

IMO Long is number one with him pitching most big games of the district
i think #2 goes to Wood with him closing most games. hasnt gotten a start for whatever reason but when he is on he is throwing good 90-91. Or atleast he did against crosby.

your wrong Thames has started several games and done well, he has 24 innings under his belt and starts most games in center.  BH #2 is a toss up between leggett and thames,  wood is only a closer or middle relief. its been that way all year.

Personally, Rounder appears to know nothing about the rest of the Dogs.  There are a few pitchers that either due to an early injury or showing up late because of basketball success that very well may have been starters and definitely would be starters for most other teams.   Brown(RHP) and Pitts(LHP) have an ERA of 0 and both bring it in the high eighties.  Smith has been lights out and Fontenot is the best 3rd baseman I have seen in Nederland over the last 2 years but due to offensive needs has had to split time at 3rd and play outfield.  What Nederland will miss is Dup's bat.  His pitching would be nice because you never can have enough pitching in the playoffs but I believe Pitts, Brown, and Fontenot can step up to the rubber.  This is, however, an example of why the other pitchers should get more innings during district.  Nederland was the best returning team before Dup transferred but he has been a very welcomed addition.  Nederland will take this in 2.

What is most important now is that Dup take care of his health and is in our prayers.

Yes they have pitched very well this season but their ERA's wouldnt be 0 if it wasnt for the other 8 players on the field doing their jobs and making the plays behind them. This whole team is solid it's not just 1 or 2 players carrying this team.
I am sorry if basketball success has cost your son a starting pitching position. You should just be thankful he starts somewhere in every game. I am sure Nederland has some very good talent riding the bench.

Thames is a very good pitcher. locates all of his pitches well. Just after the first rotation of hitters they catch on and start getting base hits. BH coach has relied on thames all year and has been successful just hasnt given Wood the chance.

Thought Thames was injured?
Sprained rotate cup two weeks ago. he is released and ready to play.
That was the only reason he was not included on my list. I knew he had been DH'ing.

That is a plus for BH. They will need all the arms they can get against a solid Nederland line-up.

Let's just get back on topic please
I agree Big Dog.  I wasn't trying to push any buttons.  If kept in context I was simply addressing 1 person's comments regarding Nederland's prospects if they lose 1 player.  I addressed the positions that would be vacated and stated an opinion and tried to back it up with some info.  I will delete my post because these players do not need nor deserve distractions from any of us.  They have all worked hard to be where they are.  Nederland will win in 2 because of their depth at all positions.

IMO
1. Thames P
2. Newcomb SS
3. King DH(Pearson CF)
4. Bonnin 1B
5. Thompson RF
6. Beasley C
7. Stover LF
8. Leggett 3B
9. Santana 2B

You never know with the line ups thrown out by BH coach. hasnt been still yet this year. Players make the line ups which is good

How does he get any consistency if constantly changing things?

This series will probably go 3, if Smith isn't able to pitch.
I still think it goes 2.....Fontenot, Lasell, Brown, Pitts, Quinn, Richard, Raines, Broussard, etc.....They have to step up!

Now Smith is out? Which poster on here mentioned something about all the starters getting the flu? What a jinx that was! I am thinking Barbers Hill had something to do with this...hmmmmm?

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
