West Orange-Stark vs. Bridge City Game Thread/WO-S wins/Comments

Recommended Posts

1st off, Bridge City has had a huge run the past 3 seasons and Chad Landry was the right person hired and the right person for the BC Job, so to go after the coach is unjust.... His program is being humbled some, but to blame him? Im just not seeing it...
His positive impact way outweighs the disappointments of "one week" of baseball.
Secondly, The Hicks, Robertson factor is in effect right now, in years past Matty and Joseph refused to have bad performances in back to back games, they always responded, and right now in the "2nd season", being district, Bridge City has to have some game to game consistency from impact type players... giving up only 4 runs in a high school game should spell "Wins", but BCity is searching for clutch hitters, something those who have evaluated Bridge City this season, knew would be a concern for them.
After the Silsbee loss, it somewhat challenged the "Bridge City Tradition of Winning", shook some confidence, and Zane Anderson, who is a pitcher who thrives on hitters aggressiveness and creates frustration was the wrong pitcher at the right time to get after Cardinal-Nation and their somewhat shaky confidence level.
Didnt we see PNG just go through the same thing? Havent they responded quiet well? Every season has peaks and valleys and you hope your just good enough when you arent playing your A-Game...
This was West Orange Starks "playoff-type" game after such a challenging season up to this point, and now they are right back in the hunt if they can remain humble....they were much more motivated to find that "feel good" game and Anderson and company responded... If you have yet to see this young man Anderson, after 3 seasons now of over 80% wins as a starting pitcher, not many should be suprised, he said "give me the ball" Im going out and getting us this one...
If you have yet to figure it out, Baseball IS Mental period and high school kids at times dont know how to recognize how to fix some failures mentally, but Landry is a smart guy, he will figure it out for those kids, real quick.
The Cards and Landry will right the wrongs and all will be fine in Cardinal country, its just a lil piece of humble pie to a community who has worked hard and been blessed with winning for so so many years and its like an eclipse, it just inevitable that its going to happen every once in a while...its high school sports, wins and losses just tend to balance out over the long haul.

I think something that Chris touched on, but which may be kind of hidden is how you can't underestimate the role of momentum, either positive or negative, in high school sports.  I think the results in 21-3A on both the baseball and softball show that this extends not only within the game but from game to game as well.

This past Tuesday, both in softball and baseball, we saw teams previously undefeated in 21-3A play.  The teams that won those Tuesday contests (Silsbee baseball, Bridge City softball) went to capture their next game.  However, the losing teams (Bridge City baseball, Silsbee softball) went on to drop game to teams that were struggling (4-12 WO-S in baseball and a H-J softball team that was winless in district).  You can probably add PN-G's early district troubles to show the same thing.

I am glad my job performance isn't judged on the achievement of 15-18 year olds!

I think it was Jacob Finney with the big clutch 2 out 2 rbi hit to win it for the Stangs. Anderson threw a great game for the Stangs.

Lemoine and Guidry aslo threw well, just a clutch hit by Finney.

    • I agree with both of you. However I think they are focusing on the gun trial to keep our focus off the laptop and international dealings.
    • You've made sense at least twice in one day. Perhaps you should lie down... 😇
    • While we don't always agree on political issues, I couldn't agree more. Both trials were just a circus to keep the division alive and the circus in business. Nothing of any substance got resolved today. Media & Politics. The longer they divide us, the more they benefit.
    • Meh..... this is a mess.  As I've often pointed out, I felt that the prosecutions of Trump in NYC (hush money and business valuation fraud) were a big stretch, unwarranted, and likely an abuse of power.   And I kinda feel like Hunter Biden got screwed here, too.   He's basically in trouble for lying on an application to buy a firearm... he denied that he was actively using drugs when he made the purchase.  He owned the firearm for 11 days, committed no crimes with it, then it was disposed of by a third party.  The only reason he was investigated and prosecuted is because he's Biden's son.    Anybody gloating today is no different than the people who were gloating over Trump's 34 convictions a couple of weeks ago.  We ARE a banana republic at this point.  This division won't stand for long.  We can't keep going down this road of "well, they did that to my guy, so we're going to do this to their guy" way of thinking.  God bless the America... she needs it.
    • They are getting this trial over with and any other trials that face him in the future so Joe can pardon him before he leaves.
