2 teams make the playoffs instead of 4
i like this one, make it more competable for the district.shoot, don't even have to try the way it is now and make the play-offs. sad when you might be 10-0 or 9-1 and face a team that's 3-7 in bi-district  ???
Thats what i'm saying...  Two years ago Brenham faced a 2-8 Manor team.  The result was a 42-0 halftime score before we pulled the starters. I think the final score was 49-14.  I say 2 teams should make the playoffs from each district.

If that was the case La Marque would not have made the playoffs this year. ;)
Rarely does that happen though.  It might motivate them like it did last year.  Last year they barely missed the playoffs, so they were hungry this year when they made it.  I just think something should be done, cuz there's no way a 2-8 or 3-7 team should make the playoffs.  It would make a playoff appearance a lot more rewarding.  We all know the district LaMarque comes from, so in their case it's understandable, but in most cases it waters the playoffs down.

True but if thats the case give the top seeds a bye and that would filter some out. Im just sayin there is no way I would want less HS football in a season. ;D

I agree with a lot of the posters. I would change 2. No automatic touchbacks, ball is live until someone gets on it. And a muffed punt would be treated like a fumble.
Isn't a "muffed punt" treated like a fumble anyway?  The ball is being turned over to you, in the form of a punt, so it's your ball.  But if you muff the punt,  and the other team recovers,!

Did I misunderstand?

Yeah, but look at this year.  Kingwood Park, I believe, was the fourth place team out of their district and they upset Brenham.  I know Brenham had a bad night and maybe they underestimated a team with a 4 & 3 record but in any event it happened.
yes if recover the other team muffing the punt yes its your ball but like in college ball( which at both levels i hate the current rule) a player recovering  the ball cant advance the ball yes it good to take over possesion but not being to run with the ball if able to me doesnt/hasnt ever/ never will make any sense!  to me "muff" =fumble  and fumbles can be advanced.  secondly pass interference should be a spot foul!!  imo.

Your right, but more than often it goes the other way.  The next game when they played Dayton, they got a beating.  If only 2 teams made the playoffs, it would make it a lot more competitive, IMO.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
