L-Train playoffs???

Recommended Posts

I hate these "will our team make the playoffs?" so early in the season.  There are so many determining factors, other than just the team and the coach that it's a completely ridiculous speculation.

Do I hope Lumberton will make the playoffs?  Of course I do.  Do I think they will?  No idea, too soon to tell.

Its a public forum to discuss football. People can talk and speculate about anything they want. If you were to remove every thread that started with "will our" or had the word "prediction" in it, this would be a VERY boring forum.

and it is too early to predict........but if people want to predict on a public forum and stay within the rules of this forum......then GO FOR IT!

It is a very scrappy, tough, district. I wish I knew more about the other teams. It is early, but if they play all 48 hard every game, they should have a shot. Will know more about Livingston after this week and will gladly pass on any thoughts as I would like for Lumberton to come out on top of Livingston in district. Not that my thoughts will matter much, but it will be interesting to see what Livingston has.

Best of luck on Lumberton making the playoffs!

One good thing, like it or not, Livingston is one team that Lumberton has few problems with. They are the only team we have a higher than .500 record against even including our losing seasons.

Amazing...4 weeks ago we were destined to be the "cellar dwellers" of the district and now there's talk of us making the playoffs (which I believe we will) I love it!!! 8)

Actually, Vidor and Ozen were picked as cellar dwellers.

Last year turn over's killed Lumberton ..... they just didn't have it together.  Once they started loosing confidence in themselves; just couldn't get on track.  An injury could make a team not what it was; if it's to a key player.(#45).  I do like the HEART the young men played with being down 14-0; that you can't teach it just has to be there.  Will be interesting this year ...... GO L-TRAIN!!!

You gave up 365 yards on the ground at an 8/ypc clip. Not the stuff dreams (playoff dreams that is) are made of.

You will also find it much tougher sledding trying to run the ball in 20-4A. While I don't predict LTrain as Cellar Dwellers, I am not sold as top 4 yet either.

PNG gave up 280 through the air which is a potential problem, but I don't think we will see a QB like GP had in our district. The kid was a three year starter and very savy. Vidor & Livingston wont throw much and neither will Central. We stuffed the GP running game to a 2.4 ypc mark which is stout considering that's been their MO.

This coming from a man whose team had an explosive 68 yards rushing.

Our two RBs averaged 4.2 ypc. While not great it aint bad either against Smallwood and co. Didn't run a lot because we were moving the ball well through the air. Ran the ball once on the opeing drive for 8 yards.

The PNG offense will not be an issue this year either by land or air. Stopping the passing game on defense on the other hand could be our boys undoing in weeks 11 and beyond against the likes of Freindswood, Brenham, Dayton and co.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
