They can't shoot, especially 3 pointers.

I think Roc does get it. And I think this team will be better by conference. Did we really think we could go on the road against 4 D1 teams with a starting line-up of two sophs, a new JC transfer, and a forward and center that didn't play at all last year and win? Guys, its still November. The shooting is disappointing, but we know we have great athletes in Miles and Harper...if they could shoot from behind the arc, they wouldn't be here (they were a combined 8 for 25 last night)...I guess Roc thinks you can teach shooting but athleticism is what it is. Maybe Minor and Mathis will be the answer as shooters...and IF we get Hall back that will only help. I'm still onboard and believe in what Roc is doing...many have posted here over recent years that we needed to recruit out of high school and take our lumps and be patient...well?????
As I said before the season started, it would have been better to try and play with the big boys early and lose than play with the small schools and win. Now, you have no excuse. And as far as Miles, he's an average player but he hasn't shown the skills to take a team anywhere. He's not quick enough for the point and too small on the wing with lack of athleticism. All I gotta say is I hope he has some kids graduating this season..... ;)

Miles is only about 6 foot tall but he's already had a couple of double-doubles, not bad at all.  The SLC has a lot of undersized guards so LU should be fine come conference play.  It's too early to give up on this team, but if they start losing a lot of home games in December then it probably will be a long season.

Miles is about as quick as it gets... He is not the best ball handler but his speed is ridiculous.
If he can't use his speed with the ball, then he isn't as effective with the ball in his hands. Thanks for making my point. Now, on defense I can see his where his  quickness is beneficial to the team.

So for all you naysayers out there...Who is the Senior leader on this team? Who is the one guy that returned from last year on this young team and played well down the stretch last year? Who was the one guy that was consistent during conference play and could be the go to guy when the team is in a rutt?

ASHTON HALL

You guys forget he was not even on the road trip. The team was going to struggle with him, but without him if any of you thought they would be able to go on the road and win you are insane and looking through rose colored glasses. This team was built to grow. Ton's of youth with athleticism, but no real experience and or leadership. Ashton will make a difference, but I don't expect this team to win the SLC. Realistic goals pre-season were to make the SLC tournament and I still see that happenening. This team can go .500 in the SLC and gain valuable experience for next year and the next three years.

Hmm? I thought coaches usually start building their teams the first 3 years and by year four and five,  those same  youth begin to show their experience on the court? Again, maybe it's the conditioning of players that could be a problem. I personally know that Oklahoma has a good conditioning program. Their players were up about 5:00 runiing and in the weight room prior to the start of Fall classes.

Roc was bringing in almost all JUCOs his first couple of years as the head coach.  I think Roc recruited Nwevo when Tubbs was the coach, and Custer is another freshmen and he redshirted as a freshman.  I think McThay played as a freshmen, left and played a year in JUCO, then came back.  I can't think of any other freshmen he signed until Miles and Harper last year.  This year there are 5 freshmen and 4 freshmen will be on the team next year.  He's finally bringing in mostly freshmen so we'll see how that pans out.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
