Rockin A
What was the WOS kicker's name for the 1987 State Championship team? If it's who I'm thinking, I believe he beat Jasper in the closing seconds that year.

txprepfan
Russell Turkel kicked a 27 yard field goal with 51 seconds remaining to win at Jasper 3-0. An unbelievable game one of the best I have ever seen. Not absolutely certain but I think Bob Byerly was OC that year. After reading this thread I had to break out the tape and watch it again!! That game has been mentioned on this board quite a bit over the past few years. I was in 8th grade and on the Jasper sideline that night and I've never seen anything like that since. They were the top 2 teams in 4A going into the game and both defenses were absolutely dominant. I'm pretty sure that total combined offense was less than 100 yards. It was a painful loss for us, but I'm glad I was there to see it.
Green and Bold
There was a good young assistant coach roaming the sidelines for Rockwall that year who later became a decent head coach at another school. Any guesses?
