I know that I went to three or four school sites and most of them all had either called off all games or were waiting until after 9:00 Thursday morning to make final decisions.

Personally I want to see the kids play but safety and sanity needs to be considered. I would hate to see something bad happen like some team playing Thursday and getting stuck on a bus for hours in traffic. This weeks games are mostly all non-district with the exception of a few of the larger districts in the state so most schools teams can afford to get the extra week off.

Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

I agree this is getting to scary. They need to cancel all the games and hope for the best next week.  It dont look like we are going to competely dodge this one.  We might not get direct hit but weather is fixing to get terrible and no family should have to worry about football right now..unless it disappears then Im all for game on

I heard that Vidor vs HJ got moved to Thursday... And that came from the GF of one of the players...

I heard Vidor was also playing St. Annes???  Any truth to that??  St. Annes is supposed to be pretty strong this year for a 6th grade team.  And the way Vidor handled Kelly and St. Thomas, they should not have a problem with St. Annes.  The only problem they might have is if they keep shootin' the finger at the opposing team's fans, but it's never stopped them before.

Wow a Vidor hater something new! The good thing is now Nederland has to face Kelly. Now we will see how strong they are. I predict Kelly takes this by 3.

If this game is played, Ned by 14. I am not saying Vidor has not improved but to predict Kelly to beat us just cause they played y'all tight is a little ridiculous in my opinion. And before you say how y'all tied WO-S in a scrimmage, bear in mind that Kelly had about 20 yards of offense in the Nederland/Kelly scrimmage.

From the Beaumont Enterprise Website (Wednesday 9-10-08 at 12:30pm)

Hurricane Ike concerns have forced several high school football coaches to reschedule games from Friday to Thursday, but the status of games for Beaumont ISD’s three teams remains unclear.

West Brook, Central and Ozen all play Houston area schools, which makes rescheduling more difficult, West Brook coach Craig Stump said.

Stump said West Brook will either play or cancel its 7 p.m. Friday home game against Spring Westfield. The game cannot be moved to Thursday because of travel concerns, he said.Central is scheduled to play Friday at home against Galveston Ball and Ozen is scheduled for Saturday at Houston Worthing.

Schools close together can more easily reschedule games because there is less travel, Stump said.

Port Neches-Groves coach Matt Burnett said his team’s game at Texas City is pushed back a week to Sept. 19. Memorial’s home game against Houston Nimitz is still set for Friday.

As for games moved to Thursday, here’s an updated schedule:

Nederland at Waller, 6 p.m.

Houston Furr at Kelly, 6 p.m.

Vidor at Hardin-Jefferson, 6 p.m.

West Orange-Stark at Kirbyville, 6 p.m.

Orangefield at Liberty, 6:30 p.m.

Tarkington at Buna, 6:30 p.m.

Cypress Christian at Legacy, 7 p.m.

Hamshire-Fannett at East Chambers, 7 p.m.

Shepherd at Hardin, 7 p.m.

Coldspring at Corrigan-Camden, 7:30 p.m.

Hemphill at Deweyville, 7:30 p.m.

Kipp Academy at High Island, 7:30 p.m.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville at Bridge City, 7:30 p.m.

Lumberton at Silsbee, 7:30 p.m.

Newton at Diboll, 7:30 p.m.

Woodville at Warren, 7:30 p.m.

Still set for Friday:

Shelbyville at Mount Enterprise, 7:30 p.m.

Scared I think but trying to be smart about it.  ;)

Maybe we could convince Coach Stump to send our freshman team to whip your varsity team's a$$.  I'm sure their little a$$ team wouldn't put up much fight against the Bruin freshman team.  :P

    • FBC transfer most likely will. He’s already been on several recruiting visits and has been looking decent on the camp circuit for only being a freshman. I don’t think his family will let him sit past this year though.   JV kid is decent but he’s not really anybody I think you want to rely on competing against good teams with. He has some moxie but he’s smallish and doesn’t have a lot of arm talent. I think he would stay and be a backup no matter what or switch positions if the FBC kid stays.
    • Oh an institution can move away from God, and the USA is running away from God.  I am not trying to chase you off - this is a free site.  I just wish people would be more open to alternative view points.  The devil wants to sow division.  Nice to hear you admit that God is love.  I generally try to stay off this side of the site - would much rather talk baseball and small town sports.
    • I guess you heard wrong? All of the sophomore studs he grew up with are on varsity and several played great in the Spring game, 4/5 will start and the others are in the two deep. Only kid I heard about going to Dayton is the receiver that left to go to North Shore and he hasn’t even been playing football. Leaving was what he felt was best for his kid, sometimes you have to make those choices. My son would’ve left last year too if he could’ve gotten eligible, doesn’t mean I would’ve liked Crosby less.
    • It’s always funny to me when present day republicans start talking about what 19th century republicans did, because you’re absolutely right.  Point it out and they get mad, though.  And I vote Republican 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
    • Talk about condescension. It’s not chasing me off this time. I have never been talked more rudely at than on here. Oh, and no one can move away from God. He dwells in all things. The problem is we have politicized Him to further divide ourselves and make money or build power for ourselves. He loves us all anyway. Peace.
