Voted yes. Very disappointed this failed. But also not surprised…

A quality school district contributes to the attractiveness of a community for families. Schools employ hundreds of local residents. Education is an investment that affects more than just the children currently enrolled. Funding would help support school resource officers and campus security. Additional funding could help maintain classroom resources and instructional programs. The district identified student programs as a funding priority. Students shouldn't lose educational opportunities because of funding pressures

I agree as well and our student and teachers shouldn't have been pushed aside. I will admit there are so many that do not trust our current administration when it comes to managing money decisions. We currently have teachers with payroll issues, rescent retirees that can not get paid their retirement payments, previous admin that recently retired from high level positions( Superintendent) that were rehired to "Manage" projects, coaches that have retired a couple times and our District is paying healthy paychecks too for sports like baseball. If our district is struggling this bad financially then make the necessary cuts and hire for the current positions with the appropriate pay. If our admin learns to manage the money we currently have it will definitely help but I agree we still need funds to help in the proetction of our children with resource officers, our special ed programs and much more. Until our current admin proves they can properly manage the money and business decsions we will never gain the support of our community. Last question so many have asked is, why do we have so many Principles for all the different school locations? Do we truly need a Principle and three assistants to manage each elementary school?

I wanna say in the 90s the elementary schools had a principal and the assistant principal was a teacher that taught and stepped up when Principal was out… could be mistaken.
Nederland student numbers are dropping especially in athletics.I tend to wonder should Nederland go to 1 MS? CO be 5th and 6th.. central be 7th and 8th.. I know they just spent all that money on the bonds to add 5th grade wings at the elementary school but I personally don’t feel they did the correct things. It was hurry and rushed and not listen to the community needs. Just IMO

Didnt know about any of the issues you said above… I’m slowly been drifting away from NISD and there shannigans. But this time the citizens let them down by not passing the bond. I also don’t think they presented this bond very well… I believe for NISD to get a bond to passed they need to do a better job presenting it and getting it out really far in advance…  None of the neighbors really knew about it until they went and voted. If they want an Athletic Bond to pass for turf baseball/softball field indoor practice facility and etc… they need to get it out now and have it on the ticket for next November. Imo.
