At this point, I don’t know a lot about this district, but I’ll take a stab on how I think the top 4 will look.

1. La Porte

2. Beaumont United

3. Lufkin

4. Port Arthur

I think BU finally beats PA this year.

Wanna revisit this or no?? ☕

OlDawg's Final District Standings & PO Projections:

(These are based on my personal game outcomes, and there are a couple key games that could shake things up quite a bit.)

  1. LP 8-0
  2. PAM 7-1
  3. BWB 5-3
  4. BU 4-4
  5. Lufkin 4-4
  6. RSS 3-5
  7. GCM 3-5
  8. NC 2-6
  9. GB 0-8

Key Games from my perspective: Lufkin @ GCM, BWB @ Lufkin, RSS @ BU. Since Lufkin is the exact middle, their next 2 games are key to two PO spots.

As guesses right now to base the standings on, I have:

  • LP, PAM & BWB winning out.
  • BU win vs RSS. Losses vs LP & PAM.
  • Lufkin win vs GCM. Losses vs BWB & LP.
  • RSS losses vs PAM & BU
  • GCM win vs GB. Losses vs Lufkin.
  • NC loses out.
  • GB loses out.

***The BIG one!

It would be hilarious if BU misses the playoffs but Lufkin makes it. 😁 I wouldn't mind that happening now that I think about it, long as it doesn't involve Port Arthur Memorial losing again.

Lufkin's big loss to BU really left them in a bad position. They can make up for it--without having to worry about their final game against LP--if they can find a way to beat BWB by 18 or more. They also have to hope BU loses to LP & PAM.

Obviously, no wins are guaranteed for anyone.

Getting a first round game at home isn't going to make much of a difference. 11-5A & 12-5A are still too much in the air to really project Area matchups/easier paths. But, no path in Region 3 is going to be 'easy'. Then, SV is just steamrolling folks.

I have SV 3-peating. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I think their D can shut Randle down. They would have a tougher time with a team like LP that has multiple D1's to defend, and can run or pass effectively with either. LP's D is getting back into shape now that most of the young men are returning to their positions, and other tweaks have been made.

Long way to go though.

Start at the 34 minute mark. 😂🤣

I mean. Everybody not named PAM or LaPorte have kinda beat each other lol…

We was up 35-7 against Sterling in the 4th and called the dogs off. Goose creek lost to Sterling lol.. We had PAM in a 13-7 game in the 4th before they pulled away late because of our offense. I agree lufkin offense has issues, trust me I’ve been very critical of it all season. I’m not denying that. That United game was really a reputation killer for us huh? Because the other teams losing to teams we’ve beaten don’t seem to matter in the eyes of some folks. I’m telling you right now that United game was a fluke. Not gonna get into detail, but that week of preparation from Lufkin… Yeah.. anyways. We haven’t given up a single point defensively since that night. Now, I’m sure that will end Friday, but not by much. Writing us off as if we don’t have a chance against GCM or Westbrook is wild to me. Laporte I can understand. But not those other two. They are as inconsistent or have as many issues as we do. Their schedule and results prove it.

Hmmmm.....

If Lufkin can beat GCM then I'm pretty sure they could handle WB and it's likely United would become Un-United by the RSS game........interesting.....

As you know, Lufkin changed their O a little during their bye week to take better advantage of some of their skill players. I feel relatively confident they can beat GCM. BWB is a little different animal, even though both focus their O on their QB’s. BWB has a better D than GCM IMHO. Plus, they’re on somewhat of an upswing.

Still, Lufkin doesn’t have to beat GCM. They only have to beat BWB.

It’s all moot if BU doesn’t lose out. Lufkin won’t win in a tie scenario. They need it to be heads up with them & RSS getting the spots.

Matt is simply going with the odds based on play to this point. It’s all he can—or any of us—go by.

Preseason, I picked Lufkin to get the 4 seed. I haven’t heard the fat lady sing yet. But, she is warming up.

(This is just to address your BISD question about neither getting in.)
