Thomas Massie introduced articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth mainly over the U.S. military actions in Iran, accusing him of violating the War Powers Resolution of 1973. Massie filed eight articles, with the first three focused on the Iran conflict: starting hostilities without a congressional declaration of war, statutory authorization, or imminent threat to the U.S.; ignoring a bipartisan congressional resolution directing the removal of troops; and continuing the war past the 60- to 90-day limit in the War Powers Act. However, even though he entered congress after the attacks on Libya and the subsequent fubar in Benghazi, he could have brought articles of impeachment against Gates. Since he had Tea Party backing for his election, it stifle me as to why he did not. Quote
