jasper, wo-s, and kville

Recommended Posts

if jasper wins against wo-s and they all win out the rest of the other two games.....

what would happen ?!

jasper would of lost to kville head to head,

wo-s would of lost to jasper head to head,

kville would of lost to wo-s head to head,

and they would all have identical district records.

two of which would have identical season records.

would it then go to point differences in games ?!

if so.... is that even right ? different teams match up

ALOT differently in certan games

You would have tri district champs. Jasper would go Div. I as the big school, WOS would go as the #1 seed in Div. II by way of beating Kirbyville, Kirbyville would be the #2 seed Div. II.

It will be tough for the Dogs to beat the Stangs but the question is WHAT IF?.

1) season records do not matter for tie breakers just district records

2) the points only count between the teams in the tie

3) if it worked out the way you said all three teams would be in the play offs with Jasper going big school and WO-S going as the winner and Kirbyville as the runner up because WO-S beat Kirbyville head to head.

So the points tie breaker would only be used to determine the district Champ.

And Jasper is -15 to Kirbyville and could only be a + 17 to WO-S for a possible total of +2

Kirbyville is +15 to Jasper and -17 to WO-S for a total of -2

WO-S is +17 to Kirbyville and depending on the out come of the Jasper game could be -17 for a total of 0

it would all depend on the out come of the Jasper game and how many points Jasper won by.

Hope that cleared things up.

That has always been the case for district titles. Points only determine the playoff seeding. I have seen trophys in Silsbee's and other schools trophy cases that say co-champs or tri champs for all sports.

District committee rules only speak about tie breakers involving playoff seeding or qualifying. It does not speak of district championships. Yes, I have read them.

Well if you have read the by-laws for this districts rules for this re-alighment period then you must be right but I know that each time there is a re-alignment rules can be changed they are not always the same and tie breakers can be used for determining more than just who goes to the play-offs. just like the committee can use different numbers for the maximum number of points possible.

I'll use this as an example:

Silsbee and Bridge City tied for first in district vollyball with identical 13-1 records. Both teams beat each other in the head to head. Now, there is no big school, small school in vollyball, so they will playoff for the #1 seed only. According to district rules, both teams will be considered co-champs and the winner will get the #1 seeding and a bye in the first round.

Guest Silsbee88

You know the funny thing about this whole thread is that people are arguing about tie-breakers, and there is no current tie.  Just my two cents!!!

Even funnier is the fact that Jasper and Kirbyville will both have to go through Silsbee to win out, NOW THATS FUNNY.  IMO Jasper cannot beat WOS this season.... ;D

AggiesAreWe is exactly right in what he is saying: No district championships have ever been decided by tie-breaker systems. It would go down as a tri-championship. Points will determine playoff seeding only!!! But that scenario is a pipe dream anyway. One of those teams will have a second loss, mainly Kirbyville to HF, and probably Jasper to WOS although Jasper is capable of beating WOS.

The executive committee of a district can if they so choose can vote it into thier bylaws that a tie breaker can be used to determine a district champion.

And as far as this being a pipe dream that is the point of this thread it is a What If scenario.

hey, you may be right.  you probably are right.  but not many posters gave Jasper the slightest chance against HF either.  the person who started this thread only said IF.
