I know this is not the place for this but I take offence to the Volunteer fireman comment.  If you don't want the backhoe operator fighting the fire the why not you Volunteer since you can do a better Job.  Just blowing steam sorry.

The other thing about volunteer firemen is they get their feelings hurt more easily than educators when they think somebody is making fun of them. We all know that deep down, they all want to be paramedics, or better yet, a "real" fireman.

In fact, I'm thinking about signing up for the VFD myself, so that I can be a hero by association. No "offence" intended.
