Barbers Hill Wins over Nederland 57-39 Barbers Hill won their second game of the opening week by downing host Nederland, 57-39. The Eagles took control early when BH did not allow Nederland to knock down a single field goal. All of Nederland's seven points were scored from the charity stripe. Both teams had their best scoring quarters in the second period. The Eagles tallied 24 points using a balanced scoring attack. Five different players scored in the quarter with freshman Kendall Shaw leading the way with nine. After a miserable 1st quarter shooting, Nederland caught fire from the arc and hit five 3 point shots for 15 of their 19 second quarter points. The final 2 quarters was more like the first with Barbers Hill holding down Nederland to only 13 second half points. Scoring for Barbers Hill: Jasmine Carter 15, Kendall Shaw 12, Shannon Evans 7, Carli Manchaca 7, Jordan Cobb 5, Britney Gibbs 4, Chelsea Eppler 4 and Shelby Bedinger 2. Leading scorers for Nederland were Shaquirra Malveaux 11 and Savannah Demarais 11. BH returns to action on Tuesday when they host Cleveland.

Congrats Ned! CE King coach has some guts going for it at the end!!

SE Texas loves stats ;D ;D ;D and twisting them for the good of the team ;D ;D Should be a good game but since Nederland won the last game and King the game before that then statistically it is CE Kings turn ;D ;D ;D Edge goes to King ,but I will not be shocked iof Nederland wins!

All that I can add is , If you have decided to become a Coach (as your profession) and think that you should not be judged on Wins/Loses but how nice you are to little jimmy then a councilor has miss led you terribly as you searched for a carear path! I do not send my kid into a football program looking for the coach to make him a better person that is my job! and if I ain't doing it then that is not the coaches problem. The coach is responsible for making him a better football player and those that surround him. Some of these kids have dedicated their selfs to athletics from 3 years old to only be herded into a program that is sub par and supported by politics. In my job I have cetain duties to perform and if they are not performed then i will be released no one is going to say " Well in know he doesn't do his job, but he makes all of the people around him happy and better people" ;D Some folks think for some strange reason that coaches do what the do for fun, nope they get paid just like the rest of us and thier job is winning nothing more nothing less.

Still wouldn't be a gimmie game. You just aint right ;D Ok and LCM's starting QB and RB go down with the stomach flue 8)

For us it would first take a time machine to go back and not blow the game against Crosby ;D Then we would need to face LCM in the first round ;D ;D ;D

Dont even get me started ;D ;D ;D I'll try to spare you with most of my opinions ,but bottom line is 3A coaching at a 4A level and a dip in talent. Both have to improve dramitically if BH is to become successful! The other programs are having success, so I can't beleive it is all talent.

Well at least u dont have the pressure of anyone predicting you to do anything other than get in the playoffs. Ive NEVER read or heard of you all being mistaken fo a championship caliber team. Well obviously you were not reading the message boards in 1972!!!! ahhh wait there were none :'( Not compairing BH, the topic is about WOS going to STATE ??? which happens to be the same topic every year at this time ;D ;D I know what the topic will be in 3 weeks ;D ;D Just jerking some chains ! It's going to be nice just to see a split this year as 20-4A has been putting a whoopin on us the last 2 that i know of ;D ,but we could see more!! 1.) Dayton should win ,both these teams meet last year with much of the same squad and Dayton won big. 2.) Lumberton should win, Crosby has some speed ,but didn't impress me almost losing to BH which did not do well this year. 3.) C.E King should Win, King really has something going this year and should win if they limit turnovers. Disclaimer: I thought that GP would take out a weaker Nederland team a couple of years ago and watched Ned tear GP a new one!!! 4.) North Forest should win, There will be a lot of talent on the field during this game and both teams seam pretty even, but I like what the coach has done a North Forest and I think he has the kids going in the right direction. this one should be close!!

Off to a good start! Eagles win season-opener The Barbers Hill Eagles girls’ basketball team won their first game of the year Tuesday beating Santa Fe 59-36. Carli Manchaca led the Eagles on the night with 25 points. Britney Gibs, Jordan Cobb and Chelsea Eppler each chipped in six points. Jullian Coon led the Eagles in assists picking up seven.

Alot of folks have predicted WOS in a State Championship since the drop to 3A and we know how those predictions ended! : Get out of the region before you tout a state championship ;D ;D ;D Last time WOS made it out of the region in 3A a beatdown occured :'(

I think it will be King in this one! Although the SETX district has some sort of Mojo over our district, so I think it will be a close game.

Dayton big in this one! Should see a repeat of last years meeting in the playoffs

I agree that Coach Price has brought this program out of the gutter, but I'm not as impressed with the district record and undefeated seasons as some of you seem to be. Through all of those seasons we have not beaten a team worth a flip! 95% of the teams BH has played (If not more) have been very weak! I can not think of one team BH has beaten in the last 9 years that has done something in the playoffs. YES PLAYOFFS we can beat weak teams all day long ,but untill BH football can get to a level to beat teams in the playoffs then I cant be satisfied. these last two years have nothing to do with Prices coaching ability as the talent has been low, but there have been some very good players come through Prices program since 99' and most of them were lead undefeated into the playoffs to get pounded by the first team that had a winning record. Now these teams after beating BH didn't go win a state championship as all of them fell the next round by usually a hugh margin! Looking at other teams around the state like Liberty Hill, Celina, Wimberly, Cuero Ect. they do not seem to stock the heard of DIV 1 tallent that Price seems to need to be successfull to win, so why do they win? (Must be luck). My opinion is tha BH needs a coach from a 5 or 4 A program that knows how to win at these levels and BHISD needs to quite being the nice guy and send folks packing that are not performing. BH has a lot of talent coming up from the 9th grade down and I don't want to see it blow through and hear more excusses for why we can't win!

Well this game should decide if BH stays home for the second year in a row (4 th place ???) or if they get a berth into the playoffs!! Last year the Smiley now North Forest coach out foxed the BH staff with a last second hook and ladder to knock BH out of the playoffs! If BH wants in the playoffs the coaching has to be more aggressive (Tear Punt out of the play book) when ya cross the 50 you are in 4 down territory!!! The kids need to execute (Alot of dropped balls against Crosby). In other words pull the stops out and have fun, I know these kids can do it and the whole community is there to back you!! This should be another tight game luckily it is at home unluckily its Halloween and most with little ones will be out, but there still should be a good crowd to back the Eagles. BH 35 NF 28

Ohh Man what a game!! Just got back and Crosby made some very good catches in tight coverage to pull this game out. I have to tip my hat to the Crosby Coach, it brought a tear to my eye to see coaches coach :'( ;D Anywho there was a couple of bad and no calls ,but that is not what lost the game for the Eagles! BH gave it all they had and left it on the field!!!! Congrats to Crosby and I think BH still has a slim chance to make the playoffs if they beat North Forest next friday.
