1. Congrats to Coach Barbay and the Trojans!! Good luck in the rest of playoffs!
 2. Wish we would play on Friday night!!! Seems weird playing Saturday, I can handle thursdays if its not so far away, but we've been dealing with getting home late all season. Son plays 8th grade ball and anytime we played off we didnt get home til 11:45-12. Whats sad, is most teachers in HS dont give homework  knowing kids arent going to get home til late, but not jr high teachers. I know on more than one occasion we had tests the next day after getting home at midnight.

I have been to just about every game Kville has played and I can say Coach Alvarez always conducts himself in a respectful way. He is teaching our kids to have respect and that is so important. I went to WOS and Kville game Sat night and I can say that Coach A made us proud to be from kville. I cant say that for WOS. I would have been so humiliated if I was a WOS fan! Those coaches were terrible. I cant believe all the ranting and raving and flared tempers...over EVERY play..not just one or two. Thanks coach for setting good examples! We are proud you are a Wildcat!
Kvillefan If youv'e been around football you know that's just Hooks..He will argue with a billboard on the freeway..lol...It didn't change the outcome... ;)
Ive been around football for a very long time..and Ive actually grown up watching WOS..I went to school most of my days in Bridge City, His daughter Shae and I are the same age so I know all to well how he is. But it still doesnt give him the right to act like that, nor be allowed to. Someone should put him in his place which is on the sideline and not on the field! JMO!!!!

 5.
The Buc players, coaches and fans had a tough time traveling to Newton for this game.  We realize and recognize that the Newton community is suffering.  Of course we wanted the win, but many of us would have been just fine with a loss to Newton right now.  Our coaches and players did what they felt Coach Barbay would have expected and that was to show up to play his team, just like had he been there.  It would have been disrespectful to him and to his team to show up with any less than our best.  No one at EC is rubbing in the win as someone suggested earlier.  In fact, it is rather bitter sweet.  No matter what, we will never get the credit for the win as many of you have already made clear.  We can't help the circumstances.  I am proud to be from East Chambers and am proud of the way our players, cheerleaders, drill team and our band represented our community at this game.  The band playing Amazing Grace to honor Coach Barbay was heartfelt. Our sincerest condolances to the Newton players, coaches, fans and to Coach Barbay's family.
Very well said. I think EC showed class, congrats on the win. I hate that Newton didnt pull it off, but thats football. Good luck with the rest of your season..and Newton hold your head high. It will get better. RIP Barbay!
 6. Kirbyville wins huge this week!! No way will Huntington come close..sorry guys. So proud of our boys! They are doing so good! Great Job Wildcats!!! LETS GO WILDCATS!!!!
 7. wow...I cant believe someone would do that..I agree..I hope they can find the person or persons who did this. Love the Barbays, my thoughts and prayers are with them.
 8. I have to say that I was very proud of our fans for the support they have shown for our football team. When I walked down and looked up into the visitor side of Mustang Stadium/Hooks Stadium..lol..it was like a sea of RED!!! Our stands were pretty much full. I will also say thanks to all who showed their support by purchasing a Reggie Garret Kirbyville Tshirt. What started out as 4 shirts, ended with 710. Very proud!!! Kirbyvillle did a good thing for Reggies Family! Thanks again! Will Remember Reggie Forever!
 9.
I had the opportunity to meet Coach Barbay once.  My parents are good friends with his son, Darrell, and his wife, and I played for Darrell at Hull Daisetta.  My parents and I went to the Anahuac vs. Hardin game last season and before the game, we went by the Barbay's house in Anahuac to visit with Melissa, and Coach Barbay and his wife were there.  I suppose Newton was off that week.  They had come down to visit and see Anahuac play.  We sat for about two hours in that living room and listened to Coach talk about football, and I bet he mentioned 15-20 of his former players as he told story after story about his seasons in Newton.  I was awestruck and told my dad when we left that we had just had a two hour conversation with a legend.  It was like talking to Bill Gates about Microsoft, you just knew that everything he said was right and there was no bigger expert on the sport.  He sat one row behind us at the game, and as Anahuac beat Hardin soundly, he critiqued every play, and every call.  He couldn't turn the coach off, even when he was a spectator.  It was wonderful.  Some guys I work with know that I knew him and his son, and they often asked me if I thought that Coach C. Barbay would take it easy on Coach D. Barbay this season as they met up for the first head to head matchup.  My answer was easy, HECK NO!  I said, "He will try to beat the tar out of his son and tell him afterwards, "that's how you do it!!", then go kiss his granddaughters.".  That's just the kind of man he was, and I don't think Darrell would tell you the same thing.  I am saddened that we will never get to see that matchup, but in a way, it is fitting.  Instead of playing Barbay vs. Barbay, you will now get to see two communities (Anahuac and Newton) come together and play FOR Barbay, and I think, no matter the score, everyone will win that night! Prayers from the Elder familiy go out to all of the Barbay families.
great post!! Reminds me of when Coach Barbay would come over and watch his grandsons play little league baseball. He would get so upset because the coach that was coaching the youngest of Bryans boys didnt really know what she was doing..LOL He cracked us up in the stands. I had the privelege of knowing Coach Barbay, his wife and Bryans family. This is such a great family. I am so thankful that I got to know them all. Coach you will be missed...my thoughts and prayers are with this family. May God give you alll the strength to overcome your sorrow! Love you guys!
 10. Great game Kville...Breed was awesome...as was the rest of the team. Congrats on another win!!! woohoooo Prayers go out to Coach Barbay, last update was they were keeping him for the night.

Someone in Kville had T shirts made in honor of #12. I tried to post pics of them but I must be  doing it wrong. Great looking shirt! My family will be wearing thiers to the games this year On front KIRBYVILLE WILDCAT FOOTBALL 2010 ONE TEAM ONE HEART ONE VOICE ON BACK GARRETT   #12
Im also in Kirbyville,  Where are these shirts at? I would love to get some for my family as well to wear to the games this season. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am ordering the shirts. You can reach me at 423-5400, ask for Shanna. The shirt is $12 and will need to be paid for when you place your order. I originally was ordering this shirt for my family and it now has become community wide. 3 hours after I posted the picture of the shirt I already had 75 orders and its still growing. The amount of people that have called today was overwhelming, yet brought joy to my heart. Everyone has been touched by Reggie Garrett and its so sad and tragic that this happened to him. I wish we could do more for his family. I cant imagine what they're going through. If anyone else is interested in the shirt, let me know. I will be making the order Thursday morning.
 12. I am going to talk to parents here in Kville about possibly having shirts made for this friday nights football game.If you are interested in 1 please send me a PM. I think this is a great way to honor Reggie. I hope Coach Alvarez does something here. Cant wait to see! I agree with having #12's from both teams being captain and I think everyone should kneel during coin. Great ideas!!!!!
 13. It makes me laugh a little especially after I read the entire thread leading up to this game. Funny how some people underestimated our Wildcats!

So sad
 15. Personally Im glad to see Kville playing teams that play the spread offense. We have lost 2 state games because of it!! I think BC held their own but Kville fixed their issues and came back with a vengeance. I think Kville will win. Defense is doing really good, and our offense is coming together! 16.
I am posting this as many places as I can and I pray the family sees it: True story- Seven years ago my oldest son had a birthday/slumber party with several of his buddies from school. I have to admit that the thought of 10, 10 year old boys the night before my youngest sons first baseball game (a team that I was coaching) was not my idea of a stellar night. The boys came over and, as expected, were a typical wild group of 10 yr olds. However, thru talking with the kids I found myself talking to a kindred spirit. A 10 year old that had the same passion for football that I did. We sat and talked football while all the other boys ran around like their hair was on fire. I finally got all of the boys to settle down and as they all went to sleep and finally shut up, that one kid and I started talking football again in the pitch dark amongst all of the snoring. We talked a bunch about it that night, but in those final hours in the dark he said what has stuck with me for years since. The following is what he told me, "Sometimes I feel like I was put on this earth to play football. When I have a football in my hands, it just feels right. When I am on the field, I feel like it's where I belong". The next year my son moved with his mother to Houston and he and that kid lost touch so I haven't had much contact with him since. But, I never forgot our conversation and how amazed I was at how a 10 year old knew so well what he loved and wanted to do. It was not until tonight that our Lord revealed to me the purpose of that conversation and why it has stuck with me for so long. That boy's name was Reggie Garrett. Great student, great kid, friend, role model and athlete. I cannot understand why the things that happened tonight happened and my heart is broken into a million pieces for his family, friends and this community. I know God has a plan and as hard as it is right now I will keep my faith in that. I also thank God for that night and the pleasure it was to talk with that young man the way we did. He was special and even though our Lord saw fit to call him home early, I have no doubt that he took him doing what he loved most in this world. I write this with a heavy heart and I cannot stop the tears. But, I feel like God is telling me to let the family know of his words and how he felt about what he was doing when he was called home. I know there is nothing that can ease the pain right now, but in time I pray that the words he told me so many years ago will bring some comfort to his mother and father.
What a great story and tribute to Reggie and his family. I didnt know Garrett, but after reading everyones posts I feel like I've known him forever. Thanks so much for posting. Brought tears to my eyes, and makes me think about all of my family that plays on Thurs and Frid nights. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who are hurting. May God heal your pain, and comfort you. God Bless and thanks again for posting!!! PRAYERS FROM KIRBYVILLE. RIP

 19. Gotta go with my Cats on this one! They look really good. I feel like we made several improvements against Newton. Was shocked that we tore Newton up like that! But it was nice and it felt awesome! hahaha..I can say that because Growing up in Kville, Newton always beat us so bad!. Anyways, Good luck to both teams..but my WILDCATS TAKE THIS NO PROBLEM!!!!! 20.
It's to bad that Vidor can't get the amount of tickets they wanted for this game because many will miss out.  They asked for 3,500 but the entire stadium only seat 3,500?  Burns knows better ::)   Word is the band is going to have to bring chairs and sit behind one of the endzones.  Wildcat Stadium is going to be packed like sardines in a can.  I'll have my seat though! ;)
HAHA...too bad for the Pirate Fans...I got my seat too...Hate it for the band though..lol
