  1. The biggest problem is that these are very talented players and that their travel coaches had no warning of them leaving. This left a team scrambling to replace several good players. The timing is bad because most teams are formed in the fall but it is what it is. The fact that the kids did this themselves is hard to deal with because they lack the life experience to always make the best decisions for their future, but it is what it is. I know HS Seniors feel like they know everything, I deal with them all the time. I hope that OCG is able to give some other players an opportunity to step up and keep their program going. Everything happens for a reason and only time will tell if this a good thing or bad.
  2. A combination of both ;D I don't even know what we teach anymore at GTS Gold we just call it hitting and leave it at that.
  3. 2 Crush teams are Gold and 1 GT Shockers
  4. 4-1 us then 4-1 them. The beginning of the year is always tough but I like to know where we are so we know where we need to go.
  5. When the G.T. Shockers Gold team was formed we posted our tryout dates, I did not make phone calls asking players to join the team everyone had the same chance to make the team at tryouts. I had an OCG player ask me about playing for my GTS Gold team a year a go and told that player that I would love to have her but she or her parents needed to call her current coach to get everything straight. What would you do if you have player asking to come your team at this time and is it recruiting if the player contacts you because they are unhappy with there current team? I even had a couple players quit my team last summer and they were allowed to move to another team with a full release but remember once you sign an ASA roster no moves are allowed in ASA until after Gold Nationals. IFA and NFA are more lenient on roster moves. I even have had a couple of players move on this summer and I wish them well on there new teams. Players move on for different reasons no hard feelins just hope everything works out for best. As a coach I know it is hard to lose players and even harder to replace them.
  6. Give the kid a break, she is to young to be pushing her yet. She will have a ton of time for all that coaching latter. Make sure at that age that she has fun being a kid. This will be important to her future in playing softball, they must have fun when they are young.
  7. Kelly Burns will be attending the University of Texas at Tyler and playing softball there. I and her G.T. Shocker family want to congratulate her on this achievement. Kelly has been very dedicated to our team and made the necessary sacrifices to be able to live her dream of playing college softball at a great school. A great kid who deserves to be successfull. GREAT JOB
  8. Don't forget Megan has 2 brothers and 2 sisters also. They are a very nice family and very supportive her.
  9. Megan Waterman played for Kelly HS and G.T. Shockers Gold teams signed her official letter of intent to play for University of Louisanna at Lafayette or ULL. Here is a link to their website [Hidden Content]. We at Kelly HS and her G.T. Shockers Gold family want to congratulate Megan on a great accomplishment. She is a great kid who worked hard and went to their camps to accomplish her goal of playing for the Ragin Cajuns. She helped her team at Kelly HS win a State Championship and her summer team the G.T. Schockers Gold qualify for ASA Gold Nationals. She has fullfilled several of her dreams and I am very proud her. GOOD JOB KID
  10. Congratulations, remember the journey is just beginning make sure that you have fun somewhere along the way.
  11. Congratulations and keep it going.
  12. Brittany Godina, Katherine Grable, Emalee Kennon and Debra Hamor are returning players. The new players are Kelly Burns,Kennedy Mullins,Andie McCain,Katy Williams, Delana Hamor, Katie Hines,Shelby Potts and Shannon Sain. We are starting at 12 players and will be a younger team but with the right work ethic and attitude the expectations will the same. We already have 2 players comminted to Colleges from the summer and will have 5 Seniors to go. We helped everyone get signed last year and expect to do the same this year. Hope everyone else was able to get 12 hours of practice in this weekend and good luck everyone on their new teams.
  13. The Kelly HS field is in great shape the tryouts will go on as scheduled, from 3:00 to 6:00.
  14. Debra Hamor has officially committed to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, MS. Debra has only been with our program for a short time but has done a good job at doing what has been asked of her. Congratulations from Coach Trout and the entire GT Shockers Gold family. We look forward to having Debra continuing to play with our program GTS Gold this fall.
  15. Megan Waterman has officially comminted to the University Of Louisanna at Lafayette. ULL was in the CWS this past year and finished the year ranked in the top ten in the nation for 2008. Congratulations form Coach Trout and the entire GT Shockers Gold family. It is a great accomplishment for Megan, she has been to many of camps at ULL and worked very hard to achieve this goal. I am glad that she gave us an opportunity to help her live her dream. Megan and her family are currenting moving so she will be missed in HS this year but will be back in the summer to help GT Shockers Gold qualify for ASA Gold Nationals again.
  16. We are adding August 24 at Kelly HS at 3:00 to 6:00 for our last tryout. I hope this gives everyone an opportunity that wants to,to make at least 1 of the tryout dates.
  17. The Gold team will be trying out from 3:00 to 6:00 at Kelly HS 8-10-08 and 8-17-08.
  18. I want to thank all who gave our girls support and positive comments on this web site. The kids do read this web site and know who showed them support here on this web site and who did not. Our team accomplish a great feat in qualifying for ASA Gold Nationals. We won 1 pool game and 1 bracket game, but more importantly we were competitive in every game we played and the kids really showed that they belonged here at this event. This experience has showed our kids that they can competitive against some of the best teams in the USA. It also shows just how competitive softball is in our State of Texas. I know our kids have grown and matured from being here even if it was just for 4 days. It is an experience that you have to be here to understand. We got to play on the Stadium field and Easton field, Combat field and Wilson field which are the 3 fields that surround the Stadium field. So I believe we got to have the entire experience while we were there. Thanks again to all who showed and gave our kids the support that they both earned and deserved.
