8. 1 of the reasons that local players are not going to Lamar softball program is because they are not being recruited by the Lamar coaches.
 9. Just a reminder Saturday from 8 to 12 is when the last day for tryouts is. Have a good day and any questions you can call or text Robert Armentrout (Trout) at 409-658-9056
 10. We will be having tryouts Tuesday 7-22 and Wednesday 7-23 at the West Brook High School field from 6 to 8. Also our main tryouts will be Saturday 7-26 at the college street fields G , H and I from 8 to 12. I know that this is early but we are playing in the Under Armour Softball factory tournament in Dallas on August 15-17 so we really have to act now to have our team together to compete and get our kids seen. We have 8 tournaments scheduled for the Fall and our teams focus is getting your kid seen so that she has a great opportunity to be in front of college coaches and to get her signed to a COLLEGE  SCHOLARSHIP. Our recruiter is Jimmy Weise and he has been doing this for our team and organization for 8 years now. He has always gotten every kid signed. His experience and established college contacts make this process a great one. For more info on the team check out our website gtshockers.com also check out our Alumni page to see where previous kids on our team have signed in the past. Good luck and have a great day.
 11. Whitney Howerton who goes to Vidor HS has committed to play for Angelina JC. Whit play for Impact Gold Trout, a big congrads from coach Trout and our entire softball family, great job.
 12. We will be having our first tryouts August 4 at West Brook HS. Pitchers and catchers 2 to 3 and all positon players start at 3. The coaches will be Robert (Trout) Armentrout Head coach- James Matise Ass. coach - Kevin Smith Ass.coach and Jimmy Weise Recruiter & coach. Since we are starting with a new organization all former players are turning in their equipment and we are starting over new. The only players on the team will be Nicole Matise and Hannah Smith because their Dads are coaches. We plan on carrying 13 to 16 players.  Things to consider when joining a team. How is their recruiting. Jimmy Weise is the most experienced and the best recruiter in the GT Area nobody even comes close. We have had a 100% sign rate for 36 athletes- 9 DI - 6 DII - 2 DIII - 1 NAIA and 18 JUCO.          Everyone talks about mental toughness but does your current actully teach it. We do through books that we read weekly, the routines that we use daily and the breathing techiques we use to help keep everything calm and under control.          We require all of our players to have a fitness plan. This is something that they will be doing in College so we have our kids doing it now. One of the biggest complains that we get from College coaches is that the freshman they get are soft. You will be lifting weights and running in College so get started doing it now.                We are demanding coaches that hold our players accountable to their teammates and themselves. Everything we do is to prepare our players for the College exparience so when they get there they are prepared to handle it.            By joining the Impact Gold organization we are expanding our college contacts and how many recruiters we have working for our kids. We will be able to get into better tournaments and better game times in those tournaments. Being seen is the first part of the equation the secound part is the players performing in front of those coaches.                  We do all we can to get our players ready for college. We also gave our graduting Seniors scholarships for college. Last year we had 3 seniors and gave them $4350 between the 3 of them for playing on our team and this will continue. It is really great to be able to give back to our players and give them a head start for college expenses from our team.                          Hope to see you at tryouts. If you have any questions you can call me at 409-658-9056, PM me here on this website or email me at [email protected].  Thanks for reading and I hope everyone the best on there upcoming season and recruiting efforts. Have a GREAT DAY!!!
Impact Gold does it because of name recognition. Every team is called Impact Gold from 8U to 18 Gold. That is what I was told. It seperates them (us)  from other teams that are called Impact. It sounds a little unusal to me also but it is what it is.  Everyone has reasons for what they do and you don't have to aggree with them just attempt to understand and move on.

I don't understand using the Gold name at younger levels.  Gold 12U, Gold 10U- matter of fact I saw a Gold 8U looking for players.  Did ASA add another level above Class A for those ages?
Very good point MBB2!  And a very poor attempt at an explanation trout.  The truth of the matter is that teams throw the "Gold" designation behind their team name in an attempt to attract players to a team that is no more gold than the fillings in my teeth.  You should have to be certified by ASA to signify your team as gold and only for the roster that qualified as gold.  The designation "Gold" now means nothing in the fast pitch softball world.
I really just love these small, weak people who make up a name to give a reply to cut others down. You mean nothing Toe Jam because you don't have the guts to stand up for who you are. If you were a quality person stand up for yourself, only cowards hide behind fake names with only 1 post.

 16. This is Trout the GT Shocker Gold coach. We have gotten more kids recruited than any organization in this area. There is no team in this area that has the contacts that we do and nobody that recruits as well as we do.  I understand that others do this also just not as well as we do. Check the facts they speak for themselves just check our website. I also resent the implication that we use kids as a expendable commodity. Those that play for me work their butts off and earn the respect that they deserve because of their actions. If you have any questions you can PM me or call me at 409-658-9056, if not go back into hiding.
 17. Congrads, a great accomplishment. Good luck at Gold Nationals.
 18. Nicole Matise has committed to play her College Softball at Navarro JC. Nicole will be a Senior at Nederland HS when school starts back. Nicole is the 3rd catcher that we have sent to Navarro. This is getting to be a great tradition. Navarro is always a very competive JC with high standards and I am very proud to be sending them another 1 of our players. I want to personally say GREAT JOB to Nicole from Coach Trout and our entire GT Shocker family. SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
 19.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the Head coach of the Orange Crush team did stop by our practice today.  He brought the actual homerun ball and presented it to Cassidy.  All of the coaches, parents, and players clapped after the presentation.  It really took a lot of courage and integrity to do that and I appreciate him and the Orange Crush organization for presenting the ball to Cassidy today.  Thanks again to the Orange Crush organization.
Thanks, doing that means a lot to the kids and anyone involved.  This will now always be remembered as a postive experience. You have made difference in the right way. THANKS AGAIN
 20.
First off, Congrats on the Home run ! Hopefully there will be many more to come. Second, I appologize for the ball not being given to her after the home run. I wasn't there so I don't know what all happened or why it happened, but she will be getting the ball very shortly. I understand there is a very high competiveness between the Shockers and Crush but it shouldn't come at the expense of any of the kids involved regardless of who they are playing for. It took me several years to figure this out myself and hopefully others will as well. We should be in this to teach the game that we love and to get kids the exposure for college scholarships. Hopefully this won't happen again.   Once again congrats for the homerun and the ball will be arriving soon as I can get it.
Thanks John for doing the right thing. I knew that you would.  You and I have been doing this for a long time and I truly believe that you doing this for the kids. In the end it is all for the kids. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO FOR OUR SOFTBALL COMMUNITY.
 21. A kid only gets to have 1 first Homerun and for a coach to not give that kid the ball is a shame. That coach should be embarrassed of himself. To deny that kid the ball was wrong.  I know that coaches have different coaching styles and emotions can run high at times but you always give the kids the credit they deserve.      Congratulations to Cassidy on her Homerun and her team on doing so good in the tournament.
