I hesitated to bring this subject up for a long time, but when I read about the coach who is on trial for the terrible death of one of his young players, who died from a lack of water no a hot day.(as i read) I decided not to hold back any longer. My grandfather also told me that "not letting players have water during practice and games" was a common practice. It is amazing to me what some of these kids will go through to get to play football on friday night.

My grandfather, god rest his soul, told me that when he played football the coach would bring a board to practice an beat the players with it when they made a mistake. He said that when they were in the shower after practice, everyones rear end would be bleeding. I was wondering if this tactic is still used.

I agree: lcm, with new coach, beats wos every year. wos players walk home every night. they get tired of walking and start running home. they quit football and join the cross country team and become STATE CHAMPIONS. whats next THE BOSTON MARATHON. IT CAN BE DONE.

stangchain: i agree with you. coach smith`s players all lived within one mile of the saturday night game at tiger stadium and just a few blocks from the practice field. now these kids are bussed across the county, to west orange, and told "you kids get home the best way you can.

I will volunteer to take 4 football players home after every practice and every game next football season.

"the best running QB mr skipper"??? are you including beasley and hypolite? i know he can throw the ball. as a freshman, he hooked up with mark roberts so many times, there was no reason for him to run. i cant wait to see what those two do the next "TWO" years. oh i forgot about franks and haynes!!!!!

tigersvoice:this is the way i remember it. the first time i went to lumberton was about 1995. the stadium looked like it was 100 years old. the last time i went to lumberton was about 2001. they had a all new beautiful facility. it reminded me of silsbee, who has a grate stadium. i`ve been delusional before, but this is how i remember it.

my alzheimer`s might be kicking in, but the last time i went to lumberton, i think they had a really nice new stadium. i could be nuts but that`s the way i rememder it.

i just found out that quinney garrett is a senior this year, so my dark horse is WOS.
