2. Just got word that due to point spread and the three way tie in district 14, it will be Burkeville in and not HI for the third place spot and Sabine Pass in the second place spot.
3. I really would like to see a game between Evadale and Goodrich. I think that could prove to be an interesting match-up.
4. High Island won 27-20. Low scoring game. The Lady Cards did well considering their starting point guard was home sick and their senior post fouled out in the third quarter. The freshman point guard HI has stepped in and did a great job!
5. score by quarters   High Island  6  2  5  4 Goodrich    16  8  26  14 The difference in the game was the 3rd quarter. Number 3 from Goodrich had 44 of the teams 64 points. This girl is the real deal. She is very composed and I could definitely seeing her playing at the next level. She is probably the best player in 1A that I have seen in SE Texas in a very long time. Goodrich has a solid team and they deserve that honor of being ranked 3rd in the state. They should definitely make it to the state tournament. I will say this about the players, the coaches, and the parents of Goodrich. They are a class act. They do not mouth at the other team. They step on the court and take care of business. Good luck to this team the rest of the season. High Island did a great job of keeping Goodrich at just 64 points. While it might have been a high scoring game by the Hornets, it could have been a lot higher of a score. The High Island girls did a pretty good job of keeping the ball out of Goodrich's hands for a good portion of the game. Best of luck to the Lady Cards the rest of the way.
6.
Whoever plays High Island in the playoffs will have a VERY easy game They are TERRIBLE and i wouldnt even waste the gas to go watch this SOON TO BE BLOW OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Cardinals, But YOU ARE HORRIBLE hang it up.
Thanks for the advice. However, we support our kids no matter what the outcome will be. We are proud of our boys just as any fans would be of their school and the kids playing. I will be there and I will be cheering just as I have all season long. It would be nice to come home with a win. But I will be proud regardless!!!!
7.
Spurger by 30 Message to the HI coaches: Spurger doesn't use a running clock when the game becomes a blow out. I have witnessed this twice in HI, both in Jr. high games w/ Spurger. One last week w/ the Jr. girls & one when this Boys Varsity team was in Jr. high.
That may be, however, the coaches in HI know when to back down. Especially when the other team only has 5 players total and 3 of those 5 are sixth graders. They know when enough is enough and you drop back and if nothing else play half court man. They have more class than to purposely try to humilate a group of kids not even in high school yet. And just to let you know it was at the request of the officials that the clock be run.

9. I'm not sugar coating anything. And I certainly don't want to get into a disagreement about this. You are a loyal Cardinal supporter. But I believe some of the girls were a little offended by the comment that they weren't conditioned considering how hard I am told their practices are. I just want people to realize the talent this team has and what they have the potential to do. People seem to look past that and focus on what they need to work on. I can assure you they will be ready for district.
10. It has taken me a while to figure out the words to say about this Lady Cardinal team. But after Friday night there is no question in my mind. This is perhaps one of the best teams I have seen HI put on the court in a long time. I feel like you are finally putting complete games together. The team seems to have a different attitude and it is nice to see. I don't believe conditioning had anything to do with your loss Friday night. There were some silly mistakes and way too many turnovers. I am sure that will be corrected before the next game. There are people in this community that are very impressed with this team. Keep giving all you have. We are behind you 100%.
11. I am one of your biggest fans Cardinals and I've spent alot of time on these posts defending all of you til the end. I so much want for the Cardinals to have a bit of respect. I think we were almost there and then this post. You know that Evadale has played extremely well this year...undefeated. YOU should hold your head up and be very proud that y'all held them to 15 points throughout the second half of the game. Many people were predicting that the Rebels were going to stomp all over High Island. The Rebel fans have shown the Cardinals some respect and it definitely should be the other way around as well. Evadale won the game. That is done. Next week, we have homecoming and Chester. Let's get ready for that one and not look back and try and place the blame anywhere on the loss. I am proud of what all of you bring to the field. I am, and always will be, a VERY proud Cardinal fan. But, these kind of comments are embarrassing to all of you and all of us fans! Keep on showing the rest of the district that you deserve respect!! GO CARDINALS!!! I couldn't agree with you more, justryansmom. You cannot blame the refs because we lost. Whether they made some bad calls or not, you still have to play the game. How about instead of finding excuses as to why we lost you just focus on this week and figuring out how you can beat Chester. I guarantee this one won't be easy either.
12. I have two things to say. First, I am not going to predict because I am usually wrong with predictions. I am just going to say that I hope the Cardinals pull this one out. Second, I hope the Cardinals learned this last week that wins don't come easy. Don't just assume your opponent will be easy to roll over. (Remember what they say about assuming.) West Hardin is a good team and is going to put up a good fight. You better be ready for it.
13. I have two things to say. First of all, yes the Cards have improved from last year. The score against Legacy may not show it but they have. They deal with Legacy was the Cards thought they had it in the bag before the game even started. They let their egos get in the way of the task at hand. Second of all, I hope the Cards don't let that 3-0 record go to their heads. It is great that you have won 3 straight. We are all proud of that fact. But, non-district is over. Now it is time to get down to business. Remember this quote: "Losers celebrate the victory while champions prepare for the next game."
14. I have been hearing good things about High Island already. I hear they got a couple of move-ins who have some talent to add to the team. From what I understand the girls are ready to hit the hardwood. In case people around have not noticed, these are much improved since Coach Hughes took over. I hope people don't take them for granted. I know they lost a couple of girls last year who were at the heart of the program for a few years. But the young ones are ready to step in a take up where they left off. Don't think that this is the same team people have kicked around for so long!
