  1. Sometimes a little change is good. Keep it for a couple of years and see if it fits. You can always go back.
  2. I totally agree with you.
  3. The problem with kids winning because of athletes that are bigger and faster at a young age is that the other kids eventually catch up to them physically and often surpass them. That's why success in the jr leagues is no guarantee for success at the highschool level. It will still be a factor in middle school, but not in the upper levels of high school.
  4. I disagree. Exactly what do you disagree with? I disagree that performance enhancing drugs are a problem in every school. I think it's a problem in schools where the kids can afford them, as I said before. Again, there is really no sense in debating it, though. This will all come out in the wash in a few years. From what I've been told, a certain percentage of play off teams will be tested. You will find out who is using and who isn't by those who are busted and those who disappear.
  5. Their have been several teams start out the season 0-2, 0-3 and go on to win state titles. Paris went 0-3 to start the 88 season and went on to beat WOS in the 88 title game.
  6. I agree with you, but I think you are going to see a drop even the way it is. No coach is going to want the blackeye of one of his players getting caught unless they are truly desperate. I think you will see more done by coaching staffs to insure they aren't being used. At least I hope. A coach should know better than anyone if a kid could potentially be taking. They test strength in the offseason. Like someone said earlier, if a kid gains 30 lbs in 3 months and does not gain body fat, something is going on. A coach will see this and should intervene or at least alert the parents of a potential problem. At a minimum, speak to the kid about it. For most, that's all it would take.
  7. It depends on the school. It has much to do with money and the kids being able to afford it. More affluent schools it will be worse than at the less affluent schools. I disagree. If the kids at the less affluent schools can find a way to buy their alcohol, marijuana, crack, etc., surely they can find a way to buy roids. I guess we'll see won't we? We'll see who's kids get busted for it and who's don't. OR who's program goes down the pooper because they aren't doing them anymore out of fear of getting caught. In about 3 years the smoke will begin to clear. When you see some of these perenial playoff teams start to disappear from the radar, you'll know why. Then there will be some who are still right where they always were.

  9. I agree, it's got to be Michaels.
  10. Couple that with the coaches who turn a blind eye to it and you have all authority figures for that kid giving the impression that it's OK. What do you expect to happen? I've said for a long time, that I work out with many young guys who've graduated over the last few years who tell me that they used to take steroids. Once they are out, they like to bump those gums. They tell everything. I've heard of MANY local football players by name that were doing them in highschool and this came straight from the guys they were doing them with. I would never repeat any of these kids names, of course, but they are out there, they are bad and they are very close to home.
  11. You would probably know better than we would. I'll be there @ 4:00, though, just to be safe.
  12. Awesome! That's my favorite part of the start of the season.
  13. Hey 1, I saw the guy I told you about yesterday and spoke with him about the copy of the game. He said he may have recorded it, but he isn't sure. He is going to check and let me know the next time I see him. I'll let you know as soon as I see him again (it will be soon).
  14. Is it back on for 4:00pm tomorrow or will it be saturday?
  15. Green, we don't mean anything by it. We probably do take a few to many cheap shots.
  16. I did, four of them.
  17. Well... WOS has returning QB- Hypolite, RB- Garrett, WR/RB- Haynes, WR- Gloston, WR- Franks, OL- Arnold, OL- Provost, OL- Roberts.
  18. Mizzou gets chase and we pass on him for Colt... Nice!
  19. It will be either Silsbee or WOS.
  20. If WOS's JV is anything like last year's, they won't be able to scrimmage. They only had about 8 players on the JV, pulled most of the freshman up to play the JV game after the freshman game was played. Who won? And the point of your question? I was just pointing out that last year the Stangs did not field 2 complete teams for freshman and jv and IF that is the case this year, they would not be able to scrimmage the freshman and jv at the same time like it was posted earlier. That was all that I was pointing out. It had nothing to do with how successful they were. BTW, I know who won the one game I witnessed them play. Some of you Stang fans always get on the defensive. Geez. : Hmmm... From your reaction, I'm going to guess that WOS won. I didn't know. Since you couldn't just answer the question, I'm going to go ahead and add that I think it's pretty impressive that the WOS Freshman team beat the silsbee JV. And the point of my question was... Who won? Silsbee OK... so Silsbee won? Then why would you react the way you did? Do you remember the score?

  22. Amen bro! I don't even let my wife go there anymore. If we need something from there, I go. The female factor equates to a 15-25% cost increase... :'(
  23. I think it was like 7-6 or 13-6, it was a good one. That was the game between this years seniors. My son made a long run 30 or 40 yds) for the only TD we scored and I would love to have that footage. I was talking to one of the coaches who had the freshman team that year. He's knows of one parent who usually records those games. When I see that parent I'll ask him about it and let you know.
