  1. OF has represented the 23A district very well!  DON'T STOP NOW!!!!  Keep your engines roaring and make this whole area even more proud!!  Good luck ladies.  ;)
  2. I'm gonna go with HF.  They have a good pressure team and great senior leaders on the court.
  3. I thought HF played very tough, despite injuries and minimal bench compared to OF's plentiful bench.  To lead the game under these circumstances and foul troubles beginning in the second quarter, HF's efforts are very respectible.  HF's #41 playing in the game would have made a difference!  She is a huge asset to their team. As for OF, they have a good team and program.  Seems they are either starting to slip...little over confident??..  ::)
  4. Ciara G. is by far a great asset to the HF team.  She handles the ball well and is a consistent shooter.  I'm not sure if the new young talent is ready for this level of play.  She will certainly be an asset in the years to come.  Don't forget about others on this HF team that can handle the ball and are consistent shooters as well.  We shall see as their season progresses.
  5. I agree with you Bleed! Good luck Lady Horns! Play your hearts out!
  6. HF has quality athletes and in my opinion there is no reason why they should not be in the playoff picture every year. When my daughter was in little dribblers and Jr. High, HF was tough. We could never beat you guys. Matter of fact (my daughters age group) we only won one time and that was 11 & 12 allstars. Mike Johnson remembers. Sorry, Mike. ;D But in high school where it counts ( basketball) we have had the upper hand. I just think it is hard to concentrate on one when playing two. I do understand about a kid who has a chance to go to the next level at one particular sports. It is hard for a player to go to next level at a 3A school unless you are exceptional athlete. Those don't come around very often. I would say that softball leads in this area as for as girls getting scholarships at a 3A school. Have not heard anything on Miss Craigen. Is she still going to college and playing volleyball? Last I heard Miss Craigen was still in College and breaking some records!!
  7. I agree with Rizon. I think it will be a fun game to watch and should pose to be exciting. Sorry Tigersvoice, I disagree with you on 18 plus points for OF. I think it will be a close game and a good match. Just because HF did not perform as well in one game, does not mean they will not be ready to step on the court to play a strong rival tonight.. If both teams play well and the refs are good, then the best team tonight will win tonight and move to 3-0. I am going to be the underdog and say HF by 4. Good luck girls.
  8. HF JV starts at 5:00..Well I hope you can find someone to stop the Wagner sisters ;D I thought there were 3 games tonight. Freshman 4:30, JV 6:00, and Varsity 7:30....
  9. Why worry about a point spread in a HS basketball game? Just play the game. I think anglefire was being sarcastic. I am all about "just" playing the game. I never like to judge any team or bet on points. It is all good in the neighborhood.
  10. Orange County teams are lucky to have the coverage and support from the Orange Leader, etc. Some teams are rarely covered by the media regardless of a successful season. I think the Orange County support system is pretty awesome.
  11. 21-3A Standings HJ 2-0 OF 2-0 HF 2-0 Silsbee 0-2 WOS 0-2 BC 0-2
  12. Maybe a little sarcastic.... All in fun..
  13. What type of point spread was expected?
  14. I'll admit my defeat my Lady Tigers. They did have the first two games but I guess HF find out what they were doing wrong and took advantage of that. Congrat to HF on the win but if both team win out the rest of the district and play a playoff game to determine who's goes for 1st and 2nd. I will be going for them tigers and they'll win this time. But good job HF though. As I previously stated... any team can be beat on any give night. Silsbee is a great team with a lot of talent... so are the lady horns. Congrats to the Lady Longhorns for taking the District Championship. Good luck to Silsbee and OF in play off rounds! That's incorrect; it's a Co-Championship between Hamshire-Fannett and Silsbee. The playoff was ONLY for seeding purposes. Easy Tiger. Small error! Agreed "Co-Champs" is the correct term.
  15. Anyone know when HF plays? Good luck to the Silsbee and OF girls tomorrow!

  17. You also need to remember that the current sophomore class was undefeated and dominant as an eighth grade class. This freshman class didn't get to experience the frustration of their predecessors. Let's hope that the new coach has a different attitude toward the sub-varsity level. If so, HF will be extremely competitive for the next few years. HF has always had talent but until they put basketball first instead of "volleyball" during basketball season, they will be average at best. I can promise you that kids are playing volleyball during basketball season. Until that stops nothing will change. I am not saying do not play volleyball just not during basketball. When my daughter was in Junior High HF beat us every time. Not on the varsity level. (Basketball) Different story. I agree with you regarding focusing on one sport at a time per season. HF is big in volleyball, but they are big in basketball too. I have seen some conflicts regarding school ball and select leagues and I do not personally like it. I am sure HF is not the only school experiencing that. In my opinion, young adults should focus on one sport at a time, so they can excel to the best of their ability. If you are going to play more than one sport during a season, make sure 100% is given to both. I agree with what you said angelfire. The only reason I said what I did was because last year when HF played Orangefield at home, right after the game a bunch of the girls and parents frome HF loaded up and drove to Dallas for a volleyball tournament. That is good for volleyball and that is why you guy's go to the play-offs every year. Not so good for basketball. I want our kids to be good at everything. We are taking steps in volleyball and softball. It will take time but we are getting there. But if one takes away from another I am against it 100% I am with you. I want our kids to be good at everything too. Can't only blame the kids with pushing too hard, parents play a role as well. Some parents do not know when to quit. I wouldn't drive to Dallas after a b-ball game! Crazy!

  19. Tonight shall be a challenging night in girls vball. HF vs. Silsbee at HF, OF vs. BC at BC. HF will be hard to beat at home. Next couple of weeks will be interesting.

Hopefully, the girls will overcome the past coaching complications through the sub-levels.
  22. I think HF has a shot at district with Silsbee taking second and Bridge City third. Although, no team should get over confident as the cards could change at any time on any night.
