  1. The LU women should be pretty darn good this year. Tidwell has done a good job of putting a deep team together, and if they stay healthy, they will do a lot of damage in SLC play.
  2. Third appearance at a National Championship meet this season. Two All American honors with cross country and indoor track. Great season for a great guy. I think this season was just the tip of the iceburg for Sammy. And the cross country team is going to blow the socks off of people next year.
  3. Time for a coaching change? That is just ignorant babble. The team has finished in the top four of the conference in each of the last five years, while averaging more than 36 per season. 2005 - 2nd Place in SLC, 16-11 in SLC, 41-20 overall 2006 - 4th Place in SLC, 19-11 in SLC, 35-23 overall 2007 - 2nd Place in SLC East, 20-10 in SLC, 34-25 overall 2008 - 2ndPlace in SLC East, 20-10 in SLC, 35-23 overall 2009 - 4th Place in SLC, 20-13 in SLC, 38-22 overall Tournament baseball is tough and the landscape of college baseball is making it tougher for schools form non "power" conferences to get at large bids. It can be done, but scheduling is key. You have to schedule very tough and win darn near every game you play mid week against the "big schools" while those schools have to have a high RPI, as well as win 80-85% pf your conference games. If this program was finishing in the bottom four of the SLC and not making the tournament I could see where some of these questions could arise from. But to think that getting rid of one of the top baseball coaches in the conference, state of Texas, and the nation, is ludacris. Schedule better, yes. Get rid of the coaching staff, no.
  4. Anthony Moore hit his second double of the game in teh bottom of the fifth, but Cards couldn't push him across.
  5. Harrington struggled against UTA again. Pulled after four innings and the Mavericks starting pitcher is baffling the Cards hitters. It's early though, top of the fifth, 2-0 Arlington leads.
  6. You did not hear what the Chancellor told me...the old one, that is. You say that LU was never in danger, but the BoR was putting things in people's ear in 2003 and the Chancellor was too. Apparently, the LU alums were out of the loop because the chatter was relatively loud... LU alum was daring them to act, but they punked out. I talked to one of the state reps from the area back in the fall and he mentioned that LU officials have been very quiet for years now. I guess it doesn't matter much now though.
  7. In high schol he was able to do pretty much whatever he wanted. He played a majority of the time in a typical back to basket post up game, but would go outside and shoot the three quite often as well as scoring a lot of points intransition.
  8. In the words of Lee Corso... "Not so fast my friend!" SFA has NOT won the title outright YET. They have to win on Saturday to clinch it outright. If they lose to UTSA on Saturday, there is a chance that Sam Houston and Nicholls could tie them if they were to win their respective games. If SFA loses and Nicholls wins, the Colonels will have the No. 1 seed by virtue of East division wins which is the first tie breaker for the SLC. Just thought you should be informed of you premature excitement.
  9. I couldn't make it to the game on Wednesday, so I only know about the technical fouls from this thread, but you never know what might have been said after the bumping incident that led to the T. Maybe it was a case of an over zealous ref calling the tech, but if the bump was a mutual confrontation by the two players, and the refs were letting that go, it is possible that there might have been a choice word or two after the physical exchange that drew the tech. The second tech, from what I've read, was a no brainer for what was yelled.
  10. Lamar 68, TAMUCC 44. Spickler was 7-7 from behind the three point line.
  11. Perfect, you can make it to the women's game that tips off at 2 p.m. midway through the first half then! ;D
  12. Emily is shooting lights out this season, around 54 percent. She only had 5 threes against Paul Quinn though. Was 5-7 from behind the arc.
  13. Congrats on predicting that a top 10 team would give an SLC team a beat down. You are a genious. I don't hink anybody else saw it coming. If you hadn't posted the warning I would have been super surprised to see the final score... :
  14. Hall might never be an offensive standout for the Cards. With the scoring threats that are out there, his role might be to play his butt off on defense and provide a lot of energy for the team with his defensive play. Right now with our record, I have no reason to believe he is going to be a big time scorer, but he doesn't have to be which is great.
  15. Actually Ang Green scored 2 points so five players scored. I noticed the attendance was over 8300 for the game. I think that's more than what the TT men are averaging! After watching them play Grambling, I am pleasenty surprised the game was so close. 8300+ for the game WOW!! Let's hope we have that big a crowd when TT men come to town. They may have listed 8,300 at the game, but about 6,500 of those were disguised as empty seats.
  16. Did you follow gametracker or listen to the audio of the game? I wasn't able to tune in or follow the stats.
  17. Not good on the road is a little tough to say. We were 5-3 on the road and we beat SFA on the road did we not? I agree that we would have a lot better chance if we were playing at home, but if this team decides to show up for the SLC tournament, we have a good chance to win it. If the team that showed up in Huntsville or the team that showed up for games 3, 4 and 5 against UTA is the one that goes to the tourney, it could be a short trip to Nac.
  18. Very good points. But to have a legit track complex, or soccer complex, you MUST keep the public off of your facilities. Just imagine how run down the Montagne would be in John and Jane Q. Public used it the way the public currently uses the track and the field over at Ty Terrell. The Montagne would be a dump beyond imagination. A commitment has to be made from the TOP, that Lamar's athletic facilities will be used by Lamar University ONLY. These are college facilities, not public parks.
  19. Now if TXST could actually win in that stadium...
