  1. Well you clearly don't know me. Just because I don't agree with you, don't think I'm in anyone's group. I'm not drinking anyone's kool-aid unlike some I see on here especially the ones you mention. Not one single time did I mention anything about Mitchell being elite. Not one time did I mention those others were either too. What I said was that it takes talent to win and those programs have talent and have recruited talent and Mitchell has done well with the talent he has at Lumberton. You don't get to stay at a program for 10 years in a healthy closed school district without being relevant. I'm still unsure what team you are affiliated but It's irrelevant. Im just curious if you could stand behind your home team/program for the past 10 years and see how it matches up to his record. I'm not going to say anything because our program could not. BC has only beaten 1 program in playoffs in 60 years and it was one of these "elite" coaches. BC has nothing to talk about being relevant but we certainly don't disgrace others that are doing better than we have the last decade.
  2. Mitchell's career stats I just asked him to provide me some real numbers to be fair because I'm not sure where everyone getting their information. 189- 192 career (spurger deweyville Lumberton) 159-166 Lumberton. 4 of these years Lumberton played in 5A against Ozen, Nederland, Memorial, etc. Tough to win against them.
  3. If you feel that EC program should play there then so be it. I guess the district will determine that. I agree with you though, BC should not be at that tourney either.
  4. I think it's really important to point out, if you say that about him, we have to point out others. I'm not sure what school affliation you are with but I know he is passionate about opening the gym for kids and trying to help build a program wherever he goes. His w/l record is about .500 for his career from Spurger, Deweyville and Lumberton I believe. And those are by no means basketball first programs so I'm not sure how you argue with the stats. HS basketball is tough in SETX I'm just saying only a handful of coaches that have better than .500 record for over a decade. I remember when schools like HF, Nederland, OF, and others couldn't get quality pre season games before their current program coaches. It's not easy to load a schedule like Silsbee or BU. Barbers Hill came and played at LCM tourney and had no business there. #14 5A team playing tarkington, BC, Anuhac, LCM, etc. All lower class schools. East Chambers goes to tournaments they shouldn't play at either. Evadale isn't a special tourney for EC to win. Same time as Nederland so why don't they do that tourney? Those are padded wins too. So I think it's really hard to judge any program how they get to their own records the only one that matters is the end of season record.
  5. Britten was the leading scorer for both teams but it wasn't because of his shooting the threes. LCM did well protecting the perimeter against him. The inside drive and BC made free throws were a dagger. Britten went 10 of 10 of his 19 pts. LCM had opportunities but didn't take advantage.
  6. It takes time to develop programs too. Not sure the dates when he went to Lumberton but culture is a tough thing to change. Lumberton been a baseball and FB school for a while. We experience similar things at BC. As far as reporting wins amd losses, I've seen that from several programs. If Maxpreps is the source you rely on, may want to try and figure out a better way. I have been disappointed in Maxpreps for years. WOS girls are the worse I've seen at reporting on maxpreps. Try to get a correct roster from half the teams out there. Every program I know of except for Evadale boys and girls doesn't properly use maxpreps. These two squads do excellent.
  7. all teams need great players. If you think BU and silsbee doing all this without players it doesn't happened. So arguing he did it with Brock is just poor. He did it without Brock too. The difference with programs like Lumberton and what Mitchell has done there is he takes average talent and devlopes it to the best potential. Everyone always down on the guy, we play against him every year. He not a bad dude he just not your style of coach is all. I also know he is extremely competitive and does what he can to help his kids outside of HS get college scholarships. There are 4 kids right now that I know playing basketball in college becuse he helped them. Sure there are other programs in our district with better talent than at Lumberton. The fact that Mitchell frustrates teams year over year is because of his ability to adapt his coaching style towards players strengths. Don't ever look past Lumberton on a down year. He has kids like Jackson Spears chucking up 35 pts and that new PG from San Antonio gonna be special. He got his team late this year due to half his team coming from football. If we are judging on mere wins, Silsbee would have to be in that conversation. But we know the talent is there and the Ws are coming. I'm not sure who will be in the running for playoffs but I honestly hope Lumberton is out since I am a BC dad. Just not sure that's the case.

  9. Walker Britten led the way for BC with 19 points including 10-10 from the free throw line. Rodriguez added 17 including 13 in the second quarter. For LCM, Ben Elliott had 18, Alantheon Winn fouled out with 14, and Noah Fuller 13.
  10. Scoring leaders were Walker Britten with 19 pts 4 Asst 2 steals and Fernando Rodriquez with 17 pts 2 reb and a steal. Rebound leader was Jerris Brown who secured 6 boards and added 8 pts and 2 assist. Cards are 1-1 in district play and will have a bye this Friday.
  11. The only freshman playing with the squad is Bush for now. He is still working into varsity ball. It's a different world from 8th grade ball. Only graduated 1 player from last year (Ocegara). Britten, Gutierrez, Breaux and Linder will be solid 4 with a lot of good quality and experince from.last years squad filling in. Carlin, Hebert, Torres, Rodriquez, Stone, and a few other pieces. I suspect BC will be in the playoff hunt this year.
  12. Fall basketball schedule in for Bridge City
  13. we have 2 freshman 2 juniors 1 sr and 5 sophmores. 2 returns from last year playoff.
  14. My son is on the BC team and that was indeed a great game. The Vidor kids had better size, better skilled players at some positions and also the referee calls seemed to go their way a lot.. Very surprised they didn't pull it out. I think BC had more heart that game honestly and some clutch plays. That may be our only win for district but it was a good game. My son ended up with 20 pts for BC and most of that came in 2nd half. Some big 3 pointers and press steals/layups. Great team effort by a lot of thos kids both ways. The one big from Vidor (Long hair) didnt miss except the last shot. it was fun to watch.
  15. BC really young/small. They can be scrappy but its in Silsbee where the whistle will be fairly quiet. May be pretty close prediction though.
  16. Student section was a game changer unlike any I've seen. they owned every kid at the free-throw line it seemed. a bit of distasteful behavior at the end by a student that grabbed a microphone but the students were on point. It had a college student body feel to it. being a fan on the other end wasn't fun for sure.
  17. All I know is this may be Coach E best squad. 12 seniors that have been together in summer AAU ball too. Hope they make a good run. Toughest 5A district i bet in the state or near the toughest.
  18. Rayburn Hebert and point guard Walker Britten led the Cardinals with 9 points a piece. Lincoln Breaux had 8 points and 6 rebounds for Bridge City while Ethan Oceguera chimed in with 7 points and 11 boards. Britten added 4 rebounds for the Cardinals. Cardinal guard Aiden Gutierrez helped seal the game with a pair of free-throws with 0:07 remaining
  19. Ethan Oceguera led the Cardinals (2-3) with 21 points while Walker Britten had 15. Rayburn Hebert chimed in with nine points and Lincoln Breaux contributed eight. The Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they play host to Buna.
  20. Nederland is real. 12 seniors on that squad. Coach E got that going early.
  21. BC scoring leaders Walker Britten 19 pts Aiden Gutierrez 17 points Fernando Rodriguez 13 pts
  22. Happy that a BMT guy gets to play close to home and represent his family and the 409. Much success TA and congrats to his parents, family as well. You raised a good kid!
