  1. GO PIRATES GO! πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ
  2. I did the same thing last week, but I was chewing sunflower seeds in the stands so they didn't bother with me. lol
  3. I figured they did, cause the stands were packed Friday and tickets were alot easier to come by unlike any other week.
  4. that's what I'm thinking too. πŸŒΎπŸ‘€πŸŒΎ
  5. Is he similar to the Brazosport QB? I know the Pirates kept LB on him for a QB spy on him to try and contain him and worked somewhat well doing so. I would imagine Livingston's QB has a much better arm considering he's a baseball prospect and I think he'll give us alot more fits than Brazosports QB.
  6. Is the seating capacity still at 50% or did they bump it up to 75%? Cause I know Vidor's had 75% at homecoming last Friday.
  7. Does anyone perhaps have any game/player stats on Livingston this year? I haven't been able to find anything on them. Just curious how they stack up to the Pirates.
  8. I was the ball boy for the 2000 season, the year the Pirates made the playoffs for the first time in like 36 years. I graduated in 2005 myself and my sister graduated in 2001 and was the athletic trainer that same season. That was such a fun year!
  9. I don't like making score predictions for my own teams for some odd reason like it's a bad omen...lol but I feel that if the Pirates can move the ball, limit mistakes and turnovers, this is their game to win. The defense will hold its own barring injuries coming into the game. But I like our chances even though Livingston is gonna come in with a target on our back and they aren't gonna back down.
  10. I like our chances against Livingston... I truly feel the defensive line should dominate the line of scrimmage, as well as our offensive line as long as we can limit penalties with the illegal procedures and fumbles. My main concern is the secondary and how they cover the Lion received especially against the screens, and possibly deep ball. Coach Mathews will have them ready and put these kids in a position to win the ball game and I don't see him being outcoached in this game. But we'll see Friday night.
  11. I don't have a dog in this fight. (no pun intended) But Nederland has looked good to me from what I seen on tape, they're QB Cunningham looks good and has a great arm. Defense is decent but they have some size to them. #8 Fusieler? That dude is just nightmare for opposing secondaries and I think he's gonna exploit PNG's defense alot come Friday night. I don't know much about the Indians besides they struggle every week to getting the offense going til the second half, and they're gonna have to adjust alot quicker when they play Nederland cause I'm pretty sure has been studying their offensive tendencies. I still got the Dogs winning this one... they can score anywhere on that field and put up buku kinds of points up in a hurry. Dogs 🐾 42 Indians🏹 36
  12. When I watched the LCM game last Friday, they seemed like they only dressed 30-35 kids max. Is that all the participation that Crouch gets or is it from not able to dress because of grades? I know last year Vidor dressed out around the same number of kids but it was mainly because Mathews ran "Hell Week" type of program last summer to build mental toughness and 25 or kids so ended up dropping out because of it. Mathews was still able to compete in 5-A each week and barely missed out on the playoffs on the 2nd to last game of the year.
  13. Vidor has always had community support even during the lean years before Mathews became HC. We made the playoffs once in 2000 before he switched to the Slot-T in 2008 (I think) and fit it around the kids that participates and he implemented all the way down to the junior high level to learn the system as well. Since then, the Pirates have made it to the playoffs 5 times since 2009. He also bases playing time on who shows up during summer for workouts. Imo, without him, we wouldn't have the "hot box" indoor facility, the turf field, new restrooms, and video scoreboard. That's all because him getting the school board and boosters standing by and supporting him and all of it came without a bond. Plus, he's a great Christian coach and loves each one of his kids in all athletic sports in Vidor all the way down to the peewee leagues. Just my opinion...
  14. LCM 28 Lumberton 22 This game could go either way I think. Whoever wins the turnover battle gets the W, but I'm going with the Bears since they gave HH a run for their money.
  15. Those were the good ole years when we were all in the same district. I'll never forget when Vidor took a really good Ozen team to triple OT their first year in 19-4A back in 2000, it was their lone loss in district that year after starting 0-5 in non district.
  16. I like our chances if most of our defensive starters come back. #55 wasnt no where near 100% against LCM but he shut down the middle and that helped the LBs and DE make some great plays. I'll expect the same this week hopefully with some more blitzing sprinkled in.
  17. Exactly, we have athletes too and Mathews and the DC will put these kids in position to make the plays necessary to stop the screens cause I doubt they'll be able to run the ball in between the tackles all night.
  18. If the Pirates can play a clean ballgame last week, with minimal penalties, zero turnovers, and go thru the air often and early WITH success. I think Vidor can leave Livingston with the W. Our secondary is what scares me with the screen passes and the athletes that the Lions have... we don't contain and play disciplined assignment football it could be long night. But the same goes with Livingston's defense with the Shot/Slot-T. Anyone has any season stats on Livingston from this season?
  19. I'm curious how they planning on stopping it as well. The Pirates started getting a handle on in the 2nd half and forced them to throw down field. But with Livingston, it's gonna get alot more complicated cause they have the athletes to burn us with them. Like you said, Hag... I'm glad I'm not the DC that has scheme and come up with assignments to stop it.πŸ˜…
  20. I said Livingston was better than advertised but them winning by 2TDs is blasphemy.
  21. Yeah, I wouldn't put money on this game either, better yet I'm not making a prediction on this game, just hope Vidor can keep the momentum going into this game. Livingston has proven themselves overthe past few weeks that they compete and can't be overlooked as an easy win. But Vidor has shown that they're vulnerable but can make necessary adjustments and bounce back with a convincing win after two tough losses with injuries.
