1. Many FBS programs would take them too. I don't understand the hate towards Lamar from fellow Southeast Texans.
 2. Lamar probably offered him a full scholarship. Generally, the bigger schools want kickers and punters to walk-on.
 3. The Cards cut down on the turnovers (14) in this game. Still too many, but better. Osas could have made a difference in the game if he could have played. If they quit turning the ball over so much they can be a decent team. Maybe play .500 or better in the SLC.
 4. Georgia Tech acting AD denies Big Ten rumors. [Hidden Content]
 5. They lost 1 game by 40 points. This team is young and the schedule they have played has been very tough. Every game has been on the road. Very tough for a young team to handle but they will be a better team for it when conference rolls around.
 6.
To get invited to the WAC, 4 out of the 5 remaining schools have to vote yes.  San Jose State and Utah State are the ones holding out.  Next year Texas State, UTSA and Denver get to vote and they want Lamar in the conference.  Lamar will probably get invited next year because the WAC does need 8 football schools by 2014. SJSU and USU want in the MWC badly but can't get in.  They want more western schools in the WAC but that's not happening either, so they are stalling.  The NCAA basically said with their recent ruling that the WAC will be around for a while and that's the path to take from FCS to FBS football.  The WAC will probably expand to a 12 or 14 team conference (with east/west divisions) over the next few years and Lamar will more than likely be a part of that.
+1 That's exactly what's going on, Coach.
 7.
Once, the year Lamar beat Rice twice when they were ranked #1 in the nation. Lamar lost in the SLC tournament which Northwestern State won and got the automatic bid. Lamar got an at large bid. The only time in the history of the SLC two teams made it to a regional.
So why are some people worried about the Southland Conference rpi ratings? What are the chances the conference gets two bids? Why not just go to games, support Lamar baseball, enjoy the weather, quit worrying about rpi? Chances are, the conference is only going to get one bid, anyway.
 8. How many times has the rpi rating come into play for the Southland Conference? or how many times has the conference got two bids because of a rpi rating? I don't know the answer,  just asking. My guess is maybe once or twice.
 9.
What basketball means is Southeastern LA played a series against Tulane at home.. and a full series on the road at Florida International. Sam Houston played a series at Tulane.. Also play Nebraska twice and Michigan. A&M Corpus played at UT. And so on.. Big difference.
I believe Lamar played at Miss. State the weekend before for a couple of games. They have N. Mex.State, Cal-State Northridge and the U of San Francisco coming in for a tournament this weekend. I think it will be some interesting baseball. Ya'll just stay at home and look at your rpi's, b#tch, and moan about LAMAR's schedule.
 10. I'm telling you that they were a decent team. Fundamentally sound. No, they are not a great team, but they competed. I really didn't see much difference from them and other SLC teams. I think last year's schedule prepared us well enough to win the conference tournament. I would love to see us playing and beating the top teams we used to play and beat. I think we can get back to those days. I think a renovation of Vincent-Beck would do wonders for LAMAR baseball. Let's hope it happens soon.
 11. My eyes don't lie either. Sit on your butt. I'll go to the games. It's easy to look at a bunch of numbers and make up your mind about a team. It's too much effort to drive to the ballpark and watch a few games for some people. Going to the games is called support. Why do you care what LAMAR does? Are you a fan? Or do you just like to b#tch?
 12.
RS- go look at the past 4 yrs at NDSU record and program and etc, its top 10 worse baseball programs in the nation!!!! Its worse than pview, texas southern, houston baptist......Lamar shouldn't be playing these teams, its not making them any better playing teams like this so use your head a little bit.
The thing is, I went to the a couple of games and watched NDSU play on the field. They are not a bad team. They played fundamentally sound.  They committed 2 errors to Lamar's 7.  They were close in the number of hits. Lost three one run games. They bunted well. They didn't pitch badly after the first game.  All I know is what I saw. Looking at numbers on the internet just doesn't do it for me. I think if someone wants to say how horrible another team is, they at least should go watch a game.
 13.
Ndsu is horrible, one of these worse programs in nation!!!! Well that means Lamar needs to do some traveling then!!!! Texas st, se la, Sam, uta, utsa, always play tough teams so why can't Lamar!!!! The facility thing is a excuse and a cop out!!'nm
You don't know what you are talking about.  No way they are one of the worse teams in the nation. Try going to a game and then reporting back. Watch a game in person. The internet is great and all the rpi statistics are interesting but go to the ballpark and watch the players play. That is the way to determine the other team's skill level.
 14.
Why is Lamar playing a horrible team like this?  It's good to get wins but not over a team that had a rpi o 275 out 301 teams!!! If you win ur beating pview and grambling type team if you lose it's a killer to rpi, confidence, and etc just don't understand. I just hope they win all of thesE games.
NDSU is not a horrible team. I went to the Friday game. They are not a great team by any stretch of the imagination.  They have some players. Pitching killed them. If you watch them on the field they are not horrible. They're a lot better than PVU or Grambling in my opinion.
 15. There may a couple more, but I don't think there were ten. It happened more last year than most years, though. I just thought of another one, Cal-Davis over San Jose State.
 16. I can think of three. South Dakota over Minnesota, James Madison over Virginia Tech and North Dakota State over Kansas.
 17. Pat Foster was hired from University of Arkansas. He and Gene Keady(Purdue) were assistants of Eddie Sutton. He was never a Billy Tubbs assistant.
 18.

Which programs in the state of Texas have ever had 50,000+ fans in the stands for a football game?  Texas, Texas A & M, and Texas Tech.  The big dogs of the Old SWC and now the B12-10.  Sure, if you have a stadium that can hold 50K and you can get one of those programs to grace your campus, you'll fill the stadium up-  with aggie$, whorns, or raider fans. As fine a program as TCU has developed over the past 10-12 years, the average about 32-35K fans per home game, depending on their opponent.  That may change for TCU now that they will move to the big East.  But I doubt it.  Rice only gets large crowds when Texas or the Aggie$ come to town, and 90% of the fans are horns or aggies which makes it a home game for them.  Same for Houston. On top of that, enlarging Cardinal Stadium to 50K will cost mucho money, so you better have a Daddy Warbucks or two to cover the cost. Not trying to keep you guys down, but ya'll need to be reasonable.
use reason, you get called an idiot
Puddin, it wasn't me that called you a idiot. I'm sure your a fine person(you're a Cardinal fan, you can't be all bad :D). All I'm trying to say is, if we win, people will come to the games. I don't know how many people will come to the games, I don't have a crystal ball. I do know everyone loves a winner. If 15,000 people come or 50,000, I'll be one of them. I hope you will be one, too. Go Big Red!

Even this year Texas had a lot of empty seats in their last few games, so even one of premiere teams in the country has to win or fans will stop showing up.  It's been repeated many times, but not matter if Lamar stays in the SLC or goes to the WAC, they have to win or it won't matter much.
+1 If we win, we won't have to worry about attendance. There are enough people in this area that loves football to pack a 40,000 to 50,000 seat stadium. Just win, baby!
yeah, sure...if it isnt cold, aTm and texas and lsu are off, PNG isnt playing, the cable goes out and the coach taters cant watch the big ten and the fighting Irish are coming to town
Puddin tane your a idiot he said if the support was there and we win we could fill a 40-50k seat stadium, you should make sure you understand the post before you comment on it.
I'm an idiot?  you silly twit .....there is no way in H--- 50,000 "people in this area" are gonna go to a Lamar game...dreaming is one thing, drinking too much mushroom tea is another...Try a dose of reality now..when we play at kyle field and there are 80,000 ppl, 79,000 of em aggies..does that count in your delusional lil mind?
Billy Tubbs once said "Your only limitation in life is your imagination". Maybe I'm dreamer, but I believe there enough people in the Golden Triangle, after a lot of years of winning football to fill a 40,000 to 50,000 Provost Umphrey Stadium.

 21. While standing in line to get season tickets last February, Dr. Simmons was walking around making small talk with a lot of the fans in line. A buddy of mine I was standing in line with, stopped and talk to Dr.Simmons. They got on the subject of expanding the football stadium. I heard Dr. Simmons say that if they expanded the stadium, they would enclose the north ends around to the Montagne Center and put a upper deck on the east side to bring the capacity to 30,000 to 35,000. I hope we would be able to fill it up!
 22. [Hidden Content] This says $4.25 million on Vincent-Beck. Also, $7.5 for the Montagne Center.
 23. [Hidden Content] I found this on the Lamar website.
 24. Oklahoma State also played at UL-Lafayette this year. Rutgers at FIU, Minnesota at MTSU this year. I think Texas A&M played at ULL in 2009. Texas State has Wyoming(2013) and Navy(2015) coming to San Marcos in future seasons. If Lamar goes FBS, with an enlarged Provost-Umphrey to 30,000, we will see some bigger names than the Sunbelt schools.
