  1. I had heard there will Be a good turnout for the board meeting tonight. But that was before this cold, damp weather was here so I don’t know if that will affect the turnout.
  2. Well said. I do not have anything against Coach Hickman, heck I do not even know the man. I can truthfully say the comments I’ve heard from people and the ones I’ve read have all been positive about him so there’s that, also I worked with a guy that lives in Silsbee and had kids involved in HS athletics there back when he Hickman was there and I remember back when WOS hired him he said we were getting a good guy so there’s that also. It’s just the way this superintendent went about this whole process. He had the guy he wanted come h*ll or high water. No matter who applied.
  3. We get it smash mouth your a died in the wool, 100% Hickman supporter. Nuff said.
  4. It’s not that we’re not backing Hickman , it’s the way the superintendent went about hiring him. His mind was made up from the start. Like I said in an earlier post, someone much more qualified could have applie
  5. I think what bothers me the most and many others, is from the very day CT announced his retirement, many were saying the new coach was already on staff that the superintendent already had his candidate. The posting of the job, accepting applications, conducting interviews was all just a formality. Just going through the motions. That makes it seem as though he’s trying to put his personal spin or agenda on the program. Makes it seems sinister. Makes you believe if Todd Dodge applied or Surratt from Carthage they would have been turned down too.
  6. Wouldn’t surprise me any of Toby never applies again. The first time he didn’t get picked was understandable, but this one is different.
  7. Will be interesting to see if the tradition continues. I don’t feel like it will.
  8. That is very interesting. So Silsbee didn’t hire him as HC even though he was already there as an assistant and they knew what they’d be getting. Makes one think. Or it should.
  9. I don’t know where but somewhere I read or heard Coach T in an interview say Feb 7 would be his last day on campus.
  10. Not sure I’m understanding all the talk about Tobys overall HC record. Let’s not forget he took over a horrible 0-10 Shoemaker team, so a good number of those losses was getting that program going in a different direction. I don’t think anywhere he’s been has the same consistent talent that comes through WOS. Also Some coaches just fit in better in some areas than others. Happens at all levels
  11. Ok thanks. I didn’t know he was also an assistant principle.
  12. What’s with all the talk about the assistant principal?
  13. I know your post is meant to be sarcastic, but the sad fact of the matter is there is some truth to what you stated.
  14. It’s been a great great run at WO-S dating back to 1985. Actually earlier as we had some really good teams before then but only the district champ advanced to playoffs then. The 9-1 1980 team really stands out to me as one that could have made a very deep run but finished 2nd in district to #1 ranked TJ. Guess everything has a time and place and Everything eventually comes to an end. As the old song says, “everything turns, turns, turns”.
  15. My grandparents and parents all listened to Kogt. Growing up it was always on in the kitchen when I ate breakfast before school. One of those things we always took for granted that it would always be there. first Coach T and now Gary and the station. Man I can’t take anymore changes!
  16. Doesn’t the job posting end on the 31st? And if so how soon after that can they publish the list of names of those that applied?
  17. Well if it is Desoto they are a 6A school in a tough district. Went 11-3 this season.
  18. I keep hearing rumor around town that a coach from the DFW area has applied? Anyone know about this? Who or from where?
  19. I’ve no dog in this fight either, but do have a close friend and graduate of PNG along with all of his kids and was told by this friend that PNG always likes to do things and sweep them under the rug. In other words, on the surface to everyone else they want it to seem everything is squeaky clean but in reality theirs a lot of back stabbing and politics going on. Said it’s been that way forever. Again just what I’ve been told and could Possibly be that way in many districts across the state.
