I think titles help build the tradition of the school, So what are you basing Permians tradition on ? Almost every school has some sort of tradition.

When you see these pre-season polls they almost never end up anywhere like pre-season, last years class 4A winner from San Antonio I don't believe was even top 20 pre-season, of course some of these teams listed will indeed be there, but what the heck polls are what make it fun for fans.

I will go a little farther back to the mid to late 70s and say Hebert had some of the of the best fans that old gym was a sweatbox the fans were right on top of you. They sure had some battles with Silsbee back in the day.
