  1. Kelly Nederland Central Vidor PNG Lumberton HF Livingston Liberty Silsbee Jasper BC Ozen
  2. Vidor was horribly tonight. Our point guard thought he was the only one on the court, our big man tried to take on five players in the paint all night long and fail, Williamson looked like he forgot where the basket is, and the Head Coach is clueless. The team lacks confidence, they lack an identity and they lack the basic basketball knowledge needed to win games against good teams.
  3. Vidor 0 brenham 5. Vidor was slow and unfocus, brenham brought their A game.
  4. Can’t get any bigger than this. Vidor vs. Brenham today 3pm at png stadium. Vidor is the underdog and Brenham the overwhelming favorite but look for the pirates to come out focus and ready to give Brenham a run for their money. This Vidor squad is young, they don’t have any senior leadership or experience but they are loaded with very talented juniors with lots of varsity playing experience. Brenham better bring there A game because if they take the pirates lightly it could be a long 80 minutes for them. Key players to watch for the pirates, Brandon Clayton, Taylor and Tyler Reynolds and Zack Barton, all four were starters on a great pirates squad that reach the second round of the playoffs three seasons ago. Sophomore Jacob Cameron will be a force in the middle and hard to stop one on one. Pirates are led by Coach Matt Wedel who is one of the best soccer coach in south east Texas. Should be a great game today
  5. Williamson needs to have a 20 + points tonight for Vidor to win. The last three district game he has struggled mightily scoring the ball.  He needs to stop being so passive offensively and shoot, especially when he is open behind the 3 point line. Vidor’s point guard Elan is a very good player, he is fast and can handle the ball but he needs to understand that his number one job is to find open players and get them the ball. If he finds himself open by all means he needs to shoot the ball but driving in the paint and jacking up shots will not get it done tonight. Collectively Vidor needs to play great defense, the point guard needs to pass more and shoot less and Williamson needs to shoot more and pass less.
  6. Nederland # 9 in the region and PNG out of top 10. If I remember right PNG had a better season last year and made a deeper playoff run. PNG has lots of players back and they should be in the top 10 not nederland. So whoever put this list together needs to get out and watch some games for change for a change.
  7. District 38-4A/3A Vidor central png Nederland HF lcm Ozen BC
  8. Vidor vs LCM playoff game will be held thursday at 7:00 at the Pirate Stadium at Vidor High School. Come support your Vidor Pirates!
  9. Another great answer Penny. I believe everyone here will agree Coach English is a "good coach". Is this how Nederland plan their games? English watches the team get off the bus, sizes up all their studs and then before tipoff draws up a game plan? Could explain a lot. I guess that's why we lose a lot of road games, coaches can't watch the other team get off the bus because they are already in the gym. Or maybe the other coaches are watching us get off the bus. I will be more than happy to answer your question about where I am going with this if you will explain to me why you said the team had problems with 1.Not playing team ball. 2.Not playing defense for each other. 3. Not hustleing after loose balls. 4.Not playing unselfishly. To the point it hurts the team. 5.You accused this group of not having the capasity to play for anyone else if they could not win here. 6. You were uncertain if they would improve. You must have had a very good reason for writing this, I am not buying your first answer. We all want the team to continue to improve and am a bit disappointed in our end of district record this past season. But I have never been as hard on this group of players as you have. And I will disagree with you on your idea that a couple of players that started when they were sophmores were suppose to be the "turn around" for the Nederland basketball program. What did we hire a new coach for if the kids were the ones in charge anyway? You are putting way to much pressure of the players and very little on the coaches. Please tell me you are not Coach English's mom.
  10. Do you really want honest Bluedove? Okay try this for honest. Seeing one game does not make you an authority on Nederland basketball. And Penny, like it or not, Hammond is the best player on this team period. If Nederland get to the playoffs this next season it will be in large part because of Chris Hammond. I am not saying that Francis or Jordan or anyone else is any less important to this team. It will take a total team effort to make any playoff spot in this district. Chris is the only player from Nederland to get an invitation to play in the Gamble Classic. That alone speaks volumes. And Bluedove I do not have a relative on this team, most people think I am from Vidor. I know the Williamson's.
  11. Bluedove- Did I suggest you mentioned a name? No. The truth of the matter is we do have players on this team that should shoot more than others; they are the team leaders. Hammond is that person now. After this next season I do agree with Razor that it will be Forney leading this team. He will be the go to guy team leader. The problem we have had with Chris is that his name has been spread all over this board, so by the time district arrived every team in this district knew that to disrupt the Nederland offense they had to stop Chris as much as possible. All of them tried and some were more successful than others. This only means that for this next season Chris is going to have to work harder because he knows going in he is going to get more of the same. Having a 25 point average going into district put an x on his back every game. The rest on the team is going to have to step up and take some of the pressure off by becoming more of an offensive threat. The other teams are spending way to much time and energy on one person. Coach English believes in this group, which has not made some of the parents of the upperclassmen very happy. They have watched their kids sit the bench in favor of this group. For what, a 7th and 6th place finish in the district race. This is why Topdog is upset and expects to see some results from this group. They have had chance after chance while their kids have sat. We want to see some results. And like many of you I think this will be the year Nederland makes their 1st playoff appearance in school history. Just like Coach English did for the Vidor group. Yes Razor Nederland was close to making the playoffs last year but so was everyone else. And with half the district going this next season we will all be close to going again. There will only be one or two games that will separate those that go and those that stay home. Every game will be important.
  12. Good answer Penny. Bluedove, Nederland does not need a scapegoat or a whipping boy. We are not looking for excuses.
