  1. Ken Stanley Liberty OC Former Hemphill AD/HC Probably best known as the OC for Livingston back during the Randy Rowe run around 2005-2008. If he could get some of those coaches to go with him to Coldspring, he may be able to get things turned around there if they'll give him time. A few of those coaches who were younger at the time have some pretty good gigs now though so i don't know how many he could get to follow him.
  2. Yep, and this is another situation where mommy and daddy will do everything to keep the kid out of trouble. School shouldn't have any responsibility, this one should fall on the kid and the parents, and unfortunately this is a situation where the parents won't accept any responsibility and think their kid did no wrong. Just look to Nacogdoches ISD as to what happens when you let kids get away with things like this. There are two D-1 baseball commits that wont be playing and will be doing jail time thanks to mommy and daddy.
  3. I wouldnt use that Westfield game as a benchmark to judge Longview by. I'll admit I know nothing about WB, however I have been watching Longview for the last 25 years, and in my opinion this team isn't just better, they are significantly better than any team i have seen come thru. That includes a team that had Trent Williams, Chris Ivory, Malcom Kelly, and Vondrell Mcgee all on the same team. I believe you that WB is fast, but wait until you see #23, #2, and #10 from Longview, The biggest problem this Longview team has had this year is when they get up on somebody, they tend to take their foot off the gas a little soon. I'm sure WB is a great team. They wouldn't be here if they were not, however, this Longview team has felt like it has been on another level of their opponents all year. Longview- 42 West Brook- 30
  4. I see this game as that inspirational movie where the terrible team finally gets them a win and everybody goes nuts like they won state. Usually the score is something like 6-2. I'm predicting BC leads the whole game 2-0, then que the inspirational music, and Livingston makes a superhero effort and slow-mo's over the goal line as the the clock hits 0.00. Of course nobody will know right away, and eventually the official gives the TD signal and the fans storm the field and everybody hugs and kisses as Livingston gets the 6-2 win!!! Just kidding, BC wins by 3 TD's, poor Livingston.
  5. I hate to say it, but Livingston could be a 4a Div 1 non football school, and I really dont think anybody would care. Just from my past experiences there, I can almost guarantee there were more quitters than failing grades. There is no sense of pride in the school. They get beat and just don't care. It is a culture unlike anything i have ever seen. The thing is, usually if a school is bad in football, they are good in something else, but Livingston isn't good in anything sports wise. There is just no pride or desire by the kids or community to get better at anything. It is really very sad. Livingston would not win a game if they were in 3a. I don't know any of the coaches that are there now, but there's no way they are that inept. There are 2a schools that field more that 25 players, that is just pathetic. Until a mindset changes within the community and the school, Livingston will continue to get beat by 50 every game.
  6. 10-4a is pretty down by their standards this year. Of course you have Carthage, but outside of them, Henderson and Kilgore are not nearly what they usually are. I've heard Kilgore has a monster group of young kids coming up, and Henderson always seems to reload, so they'll all be back. But this may be the year that somebody from down here could possible advance a little bit. We know nobody is beating Carthage, but the rest of that field is probably Henderson, Kilgore, and Van. Not too familiar with them, but I guess anything can happen in the playoffs. Maybe wishful thinking though. Hahaha
  7. I actually talked to one of the coaches i mentioned above last night. He said when he was there, the biggest problem in Livingston was the parents thinking their 15-18 year young MEN were still their little babies. He told me a particular story about a mom who came up to the school livid that they had to run 10 40's after practice. He said her exact words were, "This ain't the NFL, you coaches should know better." Obviously it was dismissed pretty quickly by the school, but that was one of several incidents he said happened while he was there. Another one in particular he mentioned was another coach was called in because there were two parents in the front office complaining about the language a coach was using towards their kids. Thinking the coach must have cussed the kids out or something, they set up a meeting. The parents were upset because the coach used this exact wording. "You guys are varsity defensive linemen. You need to suck it up and man up, otherwise, you're going to get embarrassed Friday night." I honestly thought he was making those two stories up just to mess with me, but there were several more that were just mind-boggling. The school obviously backed the coaches in these incidents, but just having to put up with that crap it's obvious why they would all leave. With that kind of community support, I see now why Livingston will never be good at anything. I feel bad for the few that do want to compete, and being in Livingston, it's not like there are a whole lot of options close by as far as schools go that they could go to.
  8. I remember that, and If I'm not mistaken, the Dayton QB threw a dime right thru a Livingston defender's hands. I was sad to see the Lions take the loss, but that was one heck of a high school football game.
  9. I always remember Dayton being a team you never wanted to see in the playoffs. I've been gone for a while and didnt realize Dayton had fallen on such hard times. Hate to see it.
  10. Livingston vs Huntington..........Could there possibly be a more exciting game in the state this week?? J/K, I'm wondering if Livingston avoids the 0'er this season and picks up a win here. I don't think I've ever seen a school the size of Livingston lose as much or as badly as they seem to do week in and week out. I was down that way back when Rowe and his staff had them pretty competitive, and to see a team that has fallen off so far and fast is very sad. I didn't know Rowe, but I know several of his assistants and I know many of them have moved on to very good programs across the state (Nacogdoches, Liberty, Kilgore, Carthage, Woodville, and College Station) just to name a few that i still keep in touch with. Rowe had a heck of a coaching tree, and to see where some of those guys are now, and compare that to where Livingston is now is just mind blowing. I truly wish the Lions the best, and hope they can find some success. i lived there for 5 years so I'll always have a soft spot for them. Are there even any Livingston fans on here to offer their perspective?
  11. I don't know much about Silsbee other than looking at past scores, but I can tell you that this Carthage team is the most complete high school football team i have ever seen. I get that Silsbee has speed, but I think any Carthage or LCM fan for that matter will tell you that Kilgore is one of the fastest teams in 4a this year, and Carthage took them to the woodshed. Kilgore won state this past year in the 4x100 and two of those guys were the Oklahoma St. Commit receiver, and the triple option wizard Qb. Kilgore came out of the gates on fire and actually led most of the first half. Carthage just did their thing and went in at the half up 22-20 i believe was the score. They came out it the second half and pulled the gloves off and the final of that game was 50-20. Granted Kilgore shot theirselves in the foot on more than one occasion so I believe it got a little more out of hand than it should have, however Carthage was still going to win that game big regardless. Playing a team with speed is nothing new to this Carthage team. They have won 5 state championships in 9 years, and I believe this is their best team yet. Good Luck Silsbee.
  12. Not trying to take anything away from Center, but Kilgore completely imploded that game. The worst I’ve seen them play in 10 years. Center will give Silsbee a good game though.
