Catman--Courtside had a dear friend in a car wreck. Think he has been at the hosp with him.

I know that was their JH teams at LD and does not determine the outcome at Regionals. Just responding to someone's comment that they had beat us at nationals last year. Was just commenting on what I had seen of their basketball program compared to ours, because I have not seen them this year. Also, quite a few players that were on those LD teams are playing in this playoff game. Sorry if you didn't think it was interesting-Glad you are pulling for us though.

From what I have heard about Cayuga, this will be a closer game than the past few. However, I do not think it is over for the Pirates. They are a great team, and I believe are ready to fight with all they've got.This may be a tougher fight, but that's what play-offs are about! I believe Spurger has great all-around game and a lot of heart. ;D ;D Go Pirates!!! As for Nationals in LD, I was there. Cayuga was a very good team. I can honestly say though, without being partial to my team that Sp looked as if they played tight as if they were afraid they were going to mess up instead of playing their kind of ball. It was such an important game, I think nerves got them. They gave it their all don't get me wrong. But truly believe if they had played like they did in any of earlier games in the tourny would have won. It was still a close game and looked as if we met them 10 times, 5 would go Spurger and 5 would go Cayuga. Of course these are not all of the same players, I'm just saying I don't think the 2 ball clubs are that far off. Will be a good game no doubt! I still believe we will go on----Let's see who wants it the most! Pirates by------6

I do not know this man or his family, but serve a God who does. My family will pray for their peace and comfort through this trying time. I have a mother-in-law that has been battling cancer for 3 yrs. Know what kind of emotional strain it can be. May God bless!

Congrats Spurger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And way to go Spurger Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so proud to be from a community that came out and supported our boys like that! Was excited about the way the game played out. Was a little worried at first, but thought Spurger showed a lot of mental strength and maturity through the game. They were able to stay cool and not get down by starting out behind in such a major game. That will serve them well,along with their talent in the playoffs. Some teams lack the mental toughness to hang in big pressure games. We came back and dominated Spurger Pirate Style!!!!!!!!!!!!Go PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I went on their site after I saw what you posted. I'm sure they are good since they won district, but I agree they don't appear from their slides to have anyone that could dominate in the paint. They probobly are quick though. I say we win by 15+ also because we can dominate in the paint and we have speed. If our boys play the all around solid team game that they played against Broadus, I believe it will be another great victory on the road to state. Keep it up boys--you looked like a well oiled machine last night! Go Spurger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Spurger should have this one by 8. I saw the last game, it was a very close one with Spurger in the lead most of the game. With BS having 2 key players out we should have the upper hand. I know it's at their home place and they haven't lost one in 7, but we almost did it last time with their full crew. BS is a very good team though, Spurger will have to play good ball--but still think we would win this one even if all BS players were well. Good luck boys!!!!!! ;D ;D

Spurger has had a few off games on shooting. All players have off days. These are good solid, fundamental players. Their shooting will be back because of that. Just have to know they have put in the work, and good shooters shots are not off for long. Also are good defensive team. Have some great defensive guards that make it tough to penetrate, then if ball does get inside-other team is up against Phillip W. and Big George. Defense gets teams through shooting slumps. I predict they will be back on fire !!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Spurger by 10

I agree with WHSALUM. Spurger is looking good! Phillip and Pate are the cornerstones of the team. THey will lead them, and I beleive will do a great job this season. I also agree that people should not expect miracles from the freshman, but also want to say that they contribute a lot to the team. It is not unusual for younger classmen to be the week links on a team. However, in this group I think they are strong all the way from seniors down to fish. The level of play stays strong at all times. It takes a whole team to win. Think the program is doing great and am very excited about it! Don't know why people are being so negative. I say just enjoy the ride! It's looking great so far. Keep it up boys!

As for the teams and atmosphere----you are right! Both clubs were great and the atmosphere was awesome! Enjoyed the game immensely. Hope they continue.

In response to the fouls, Spurger point guard had the first 2 fouls on first Warren posession. At the end of the game, our boys were hammered with no calls unless they were brought to the floor with bloody noses! That's what I was talking about. Not Numbers on the books! Warren played a good game, I'm not taking away from that. Just saying the officials didn't call, and then things get out of hand.

Great Game Spurger Boys! I couldn't even go to sleep that night for hours. You played an awesome game, despite the officials. Keep up the good work, we're looking forward to following you into a long and successful season!
