Well Bmtfan this is the last time I will acknowledge that you have and opinion but I felt there was one more thing that needed to be said. In my life I have ran into people like you alot. I am grouping you in with the people that when someone is on the road to greatness there is always someone like you that is jealous and wants to knock you down. We do acknowlege that Cayuga had a very good team, we take nothing from them and we know that we were beaten by the State Championship team. But in saying that we also have achieved alot this year!!! We will not allow a person like you to take ANYTHING from that. So thanks again for again bringing us closer as a team and a town by trying to knock us down.
Very well said 6th man :)
2. Congrats Silsbee on a great season!  Way to fight to the end....Thanks for the support for Spurger and we're sure you'll be back here in Austin again next year!

8.
Win or lose our pirates have already won!!!! With the leadership of their coach held up the regional trophy ceremony to pray and thank God!!!!! I am picking Our PIRATE team to win state. Cayuga is just a team that on any given day can and will be beat. Spurger by 4. It will be up to McGallion to keep this team pumped on the court. GO PIRATES get that trophy!!!!!
That's right 6th man.  It gave me chills to see that!  So proud of our boys and their terrific leader Coach Isaacs!  Go Pirates!!!!!!!!!!!
9. I haven't seen Bremond since we played them last year but gotta go with my boys!!!!They keep proving that they can beat all kinds of teams. Smart coach....smart players. Spurger by 8 Let's take it to state boys!!!!!!!!!!We're behind you all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. Can't wait to see this game!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spurger has been playing great ball and I think they will even pick it up more when facing tougher team. Will be great to get them ready for playoff. This is a fabulous group of hard working, heart playing, classy kids who admire and work hard for their coach. Can't wait boys....I'll be there screming my head off!! Spurger by 3
11. This district is weak this year the TALENT level has droped off from past years!!! Personally i dont understand why everyone is mad about some soph player.... Alright this kid is good for THIS DISTRICT!!! plan and simple he can play with these players and teams so i AGREE he is good but for this district he still has alot to learn! The only player in this district right now who can play on almost any level is Copeland and that is the truth!!! But like you said this District is up for grabs and it will be exciting to see who comes out on top this season!! Copeland, Copeland, Copeland, MVP Copeland only had 17 pts. against Spurger, remember this name Soph. Shain Rawls, because he was the one in Copeland face all night. Yes, Copeland is a great player, but he also has things to learn & he's a Senior. And what about Jr. Daniel Blankenship from Spurger who had 33points against WH. Copeland is overrated, he has turned into a big whin bag, don't remember him whinning as much last year as I have seen him do this year & still needs to learn how to play DEFENSE also. Copeland is the best player in this district by far sorry if that makes you mad but its TRUE! So if you were the coach of Spurger or any other team and you are going to play WH what would you do to stop them lets think......... o maby lets throw everything we got at Copeland and double team him all night... You need to understand that Basketball is a 5 man game not 1 man you can expect 1 player to drop 30 pts 10 ast 10 rb when he is getting double and triple teamed all night..... and nobody talked about how overrated and terrible defence Tyler played last yr or the yr he was a soph... (WHEN THIS DISTRICT WAS ACTUALLY FULL OF TALENT) but like i said WH just does not have the Talent or experience like previous years and Copeland has to do everything to keep his team in it and that is the TRUTH When a player gets double teamed he should trust his team and make them better. When I get double teamed my eyes light up and I look for the open man, because that is the best thing for my team. Copeland just puts his head down and goes to work. I would love to see some stats on his assist/game. good point bigtimeplayer. I agree, he is a very good player..but reading a defense and being able to adjust is a must. The best players in the game know how to make assists and are better teams because of it.
12. whsalum and The_Gladiator just wished ur town/team had a point guard like McGallion!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't lump me in with The Gladiator.I just made a simple observation.I pick up the paper every week now and look for the best game and that's where I go.I don't have a team,I am a BASKETFALL fan.I have seen just about every team in SeTx this year and comment as to what I see.If you'll look at my post I put Chase in the top 5 players in the district.Which in my opinion he is one of the top 5 but the district overall is weak.My quote above was concerning the "I have watched him for years" statement which I stand by.If he didn't start last year and your midway through the season you had to be watching either Jr.High or Little Dribblers, that's not a put down it's a fact.Sports Talk you are right,if I was starting a team and looking for a good young point guard I would certainly take Chase on my team,I just wouldn't say I had watched him for years.I gotta disagree with Gladiator about Spurgers club, they are headed in the right direction. Whsalum, I realize you are saying that younger experience doesn't count as far as hs ball and I don't disagree with you. I was just trying to respond to the fellow who said he was a joke. Obviously he has not seen Chase play much or he wouldd not say he cannot handle man pressure. When I said I have watched him for years I wasn't trying to lump his jh or little dribblers play with hs...know it's a different league...simply meant that I know the player and what he can do. I know that he has not had much hs experience. He did play quite a bit last year and ended up being a starter towards end of season, I just mean he has always handled well under pressure and is continuing the pattern in his varsity experience. Wasn't trying to start a debate, just choice of words because I have known him for so long. I agree with you, think Spurger is headed in a good direction. Glad you come and watch us!
13. Have to disagree with you about McGallion being a joke. Watched him play for years, and he may get frustrated sometimes....but I have seen that kid see the floor and work the ball wherever he wants with 2 guys all over him. One man on him doesn't even phase him a bit. Don't know who you've been watching, but I haven't seen anyone in our area in a long time see the floor as well as he does. He understands the game and works it beautifully.
14. Yes, that is what I meant. People were asking if they have had 2 yrs of experience then why aren't they Jr's. That's because they have only had 1 year (last year) of varsity experience and are now sophmore's playing in their second season of varsity.
15. I am from Spurger and have known these kids most of their lives. I think the confusion over their ages are because when people are saying they have 2 yrs of experience they are counting this year. Here are the starter yrs exp. and grade. Casey Collier- Sr this is his 1st year varsity (doing a great job) John Gossit- Sr not sure on yrs 2 or 3 Daniel Blankenship - Jr 2yrs Chase McGallion-Soph 1 yr George Whittaker -Soph 1yr
16. Sounds like you guys made a great showing for our area. Way to go!!!!!!!Congrats on a great season!
17. Congrats BS! Good luck Sat., bring that title home. We'll be pulling for you guys, and don't let the hype about the other team get ya. We weren't supposed to have beaten Cayuga but we did. So go get 'em!
18. Spurger boys--I am so proud of you--you guys never gave up and played hard. You had a great season and we are very proud of what you accomplished!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I thought both teams played tremendously. They also showed a lot of class. It was great to see the boys helping one another off the floor and just plain good sportmanship. I think both teams respect one another. They all fought a tough battle, and both teams deserve a pat on the back for their hard work. BS----I wish it could have been us, but if not I am glad that you guys are going. Best of luck in state. Show 'em what we're made of in 24A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Glad to hear the young man that was hurt is OK)
19. I agree. Both teams are great, it will be a close one. Have to go with my Spurger boys though. They've shown me a lot in these playoffs!
20. Way to go boys!!!!!!!!!!I am so proud of you guys. It was a tough one but you guys stepped up to the challenge. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
