Not having Beard caught up with us quicker than people thought. It was 21-21 midway through the 4th and Crosby had a huge 3rd and 12 that went for 60 yards right up the middle. Had Beard been on the field, let's just say that play would of ended somewhat differently. Congrats to Crosby for finding the holes in our D, though. Great season, Raiders.

I'll agree the East seems stronger, but let's hold off on judgment of the West; who has a ton of injuries with top teams or teams that should be showing a lot of promise. (Utah, Houston, San Antonio, Portland, Golden State).

LOL, you have to be just trying to tick me off now. That skirmish was all on Barnes last night. Also, whoever mentioned the 5-3 - I'll take that, especially if we get the one tomorrow in SA to go 6-3, with the schedule we've had so far. I was expecting .500 at best after New Orleans this weekend.

They were minus Beard for much of the PNG game, too. You can't make a prediction just because one score (PNG v. Lumberton) is in favor of Crosby. You get into this type of logic: Nederland handled PNG, and Lumberton beat Nederland by 14. Livingston beat PNG, and Lumberton beat Livingston by 21, etc., etc.

Probably wouldn't of. I could say they looked like a championship team last night in their rout of Phoenix, but again, when was the last time the first month mattered? The Rockets can certainly atest the answer of: "not very often".

Winning tonight did nothing for Lumberton winning the district title. If they lose to Nederland next week and Livingston wins, Livingston is the outright district champion as they will have 1 loss and Lumberton will have 2. ..unless I missed something, KFDM has it wrong.

Did you see both the PNG v. Ned and PNG v. Lumberton game? If so, what are your opinions on Nederland v. Lumberton, past that you think Lumberton will win? Is Nederland's passing game trouble for Lumberton? I'm interested in what you think.

Good thing for Lumberton that this year isn't "not too long ago" then, huh? I have the upmost respect for Nederland and know it'll be a war, but there's no reason not to be confident. I'm sure the kids feel the same way. Enough about the change of offense at Central, though. If you guys have changed since then, more power to you, and I wish you the best, but you can't take away from Lumberton's effort in that game simply because Central's coach didn't gameplan well enough an offense that would be able to move the ball against the Raider D.

Wrong. If you muff it and the ball continues into the endzone on it's own, you can kneel it.

Good point, Ag. That game is going to be nasty. Livingston has Vidor after Central, so if they beat the Jags (which I think should happen), they still have to put away those Pirates that will still be fighting for a playoff spot. So it could very easily end up (whenever I said Lumberton could win it outright): Lumberton 6-1 Livingston 5-2 Central 5-2 Vidor 5-2

Yes, after not moving the ball the entire game, you could of gone 99 yards and tied it up. Come on, man!

GoDog, are you serious? You're calling someone's post ignorant, then explaining how you haven't seen certain teams play. I've seen Central, Lumberton, Livingston and Nederland. Central's offense won't beat anyone relevant, Livingston doesn't field a defense, and Nederland, well, it's not even sure yet that they'll make it or not. But like you said, their defense is weak as well. Lumberton has the best D, and a consistent offense that puts up 28 or so PPG. Also, whoever that blamed Central's mental mistakes and said that one of Lumberton's scores was a fumble recovery in the endzone. Well, I didn't tell your return man to try to come out of the endzone, after some incidental contact at the 5, when he thought he had to. Good teams know the rules, simple as that.

From what I've read, you certainly haven't. Of course, I haven't seen it all so I apologize if that's the case. Sure, if Lumberton loses to Ned, put my vote down for Livingston as I've heard they've vastly improved since Lumberton. I can't see that Central offense putting up enough points to beat the Lions. Regardless of who ends up on top, Lumberton is the most complete team in the district and has the best chance of doing anything in the playoffs.

Lumberton will handle the game, but it won't be a shellacking. They don't have a "strike early and often" type offense, rather they mount 6-8 minute, punishing drives, put up 28 or so points and put it in the hands of their defense. I'll say, Lumberton 28 - LCM 10.

Give me a break, Lumberton blew out both Livingston and Central (two of Central's scores were a pick-6 and kickoff return, if it wasn't for that, it would of been 34-7). It was downright ugly watching Central's offense trying to move the ball against the Raider D, trust me. Lumberton will take care of Ned and win the district outright. Less the slip up against Vidor, they've hands down been the best team in 20-4A this year. I guess it's going to be the same way as it was last year. Doubt the Train for 10 straight weeks, then jump on the bandwagon. No worries, there will be room for you a month from now.

I'm not much of a trash talker, and I don't really see a reason to be after such a great game by both teams last night, but: vidorpirate, you post that 27-12 score like Lumberton is your Super Bowl.. How about the Pirates just worry about making the playoffs? Also, to anyone that wants to talk down about Lumberton fans.. Outside of PNG, Nederland and maybe a couple others, everyone else around Southeast Texas could only wish they had fans like Lumberton's. No matter where the Raiders play, their side is always completely full.

Definitely. Some of those ball spots were awful. PNG had a ton of late hits that weren't called and I dare you to find me the hold on that statue of liberty. PNG still doesn't know how that ball ended up in the endzone and not one defender was within 20 yards of Beard, so where could the hold possibly be?

Freakin' amazing game. One of the best I've ever seen and was a testament to SE Texas football. Just smash mouth, run it right down your throat and dare you to stop it for 3+ straight hours. Incredible efforts all around. Hat's off to Beard, he was heroic. I just hope he's going to be able to walk around tomorrow. Also, about this "taking a knee" business. Lumberton fans need to stop harrassing other teams to do so. It's not required, nor is it disrespectful if they don't. Granted, it's a classy move if they do, but I'm going to go nuts if I have to hear "TAKE A KNEEEEEEEE!!" ringing in my ear again.

Train looked good tonight - I'll take 34-20, but it realistically could and should of been 34-7 or so, given that Central's scores were on a KR, a pick-6, and a sack where the QB pitched it a millisecond before hitting the turf. Central hardly moved the ball at all other than the one drive they got down to the 15 before stalling out. Lumberton's D stepped up big. Bring on Ozen.

BMT, you know I'll never question your opinion and that you're my boy. I guess this year's team is just going to have to win everyone over again. Remember, this time last year all the "senior stars that graduated" were no namers, just like the current team is.
