[Hidden Content] Longview will has played 4 state ranked teams so far and will play their 5th this week against #10 ranked Sulphur Springs. From what I have seen and heard, SS is all offense and no defense as they let lowly ole Pine Tree almost score 30 on them last week. Looks like it might be a track meet. What teams in SETX are looking to be the big 4A playoff brackets?

Not only how they ran the ball, but there are on a totally different level of athleticism as well as being able to guard against the pass. This QB from LT is a haas. I have watched him play a few times. As big and fast as Longview's defensive line is, they could not give him so much time to throw the ball. Gilbert has all the time he needs to throw the ball usually. If you take that kids ability to throw the ball out of the occasion, then LT turns into a mediocre team. I sure hope to see this matchup in December. Fingers are crossed

Well your husband just saw this!! I am so glad you were wrong!! The Lobos played 3 - 5A teams (2 of which were state ranked) and the #2 team in Louisana. Now we get to start playing 4A in district!!! Go Lobos. And have some faith DHS Grad 95.

So sorry to disappoint. Yeah I hear ya about sorry to disappoint. I was talking to my dad who was at the game throughout the last overtime. I bet the stands went crazy. I have missed the last 2 meetings between Longview and Lufkin. And Longview has won both, so I guess from now on I have to stay away from that game so they keep the streak alive. Oh and Lake Travis beat Evangel 46-31. Longview beat evangel what should have been 52-0 but Evangel scored 21 on our 2nd and 3rd strings. Evangel and Lake Travis run similar offenses so I would be curious to see how the Lobos fared late in the playoffs against Lake Travis.

I had a feeling this would happen. But instead Longview is playing the #2 ranked team in Louisana. Evangel Christian in Longview!!!

:o How much were they up by? I am the husband mentioned above! I believe the score was 63-0 at halftime. It was a first round playoff game versus 5A Dallas Bryan Adams. After halftime, Coach King pulled the starters and had them in sweats on the sidelines.

I am a dayton fan and attended the game. I sat on the PNG side and wow, kudos to the fans from PNG. They filled up the stands and cheered like nobody's business. Great fans. Great people. I still couldnt get used to listening to Cherokee but I enjoyed the game. Very exciting! I sure love to see that fan support. I hope you guys do well this season and maybe we might see eachother in the playoffs!

What was the results of their JV and 9th grade games?

What are the stats on GCM? What kind of offense do they run? Speed? Heck what is their mascot or school colors even?

Dont forget about Longview at #8. They shut down former 5A state champ Robert E. Lee in their first scrimmage. They play #8 in 5A Allen, and #11 in 5A Lufkin in pre district play. Oh and in the middle of that, they play Barbers Hill??? If Longview can take down 2 teams in the top 15 in the state in 5A, I would look for them to be in the top spot.

Now that was FUNNY! Well when I was in the military I used to capitalize words on some of my reports to emphasize stress. Then I had an officer that scolded me for doing so. He told me," Have you ever watched George Carlin's standup?" I said well of course and then he asked if I had ever heard him scream. I again said yes. He said the next time you write a report to me I want you to read the report to yourself quietly first and when you get to a word that is all CAPS you have to envision George Carlin screaming that word like only he can do. Its quite comedical. So I was getting a kick out of your posts. Just imagine the late George Carlin yelling SCRIMMAGE at the top of his lungs in mid sentence. Just makes me chuckle!

I thought that WOS didn't look all that bad. Have to keep in mind that they were playing a 4A team. I am sure they will do just fine in 3A. Who is WOS's 2nd string QB. We were watching him in the entire second half, I think his humber is 13, and he was holding his own pretty much with Dayton's defense. I think it was a great practice for both teams Can't wait for the season to start. 2 more weeks!

Was it Dayton saying no or Longview saying no. I think that Dayton vs Longview might have been a lil more entertaining to watch than Longview vs Barbers Hill.

Who is SFA playing on Saturday? If its a good one, me and my wife might stay in NAC to visit some of our old stomping grounds while we were in college and get a hotel room. Then hit the SFA game and head back south.

Hahaha I agree, the team that played Lumberton was a totally different team. It would have been a slaughter in the playoffs. Probably not as bad as we killed Livingston, but it definately would have been a lopsided game. But I am glad that Dayton lost that game to tell you the truth. I dont think we would have gotten as good as we did without losing a game like that. So we owe some of our playoff run to Lumberton. Thanks L-Train!!

Here is my prediction. Keep in mind that Livingston was an outstanding team that made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs. I sure hope to see a rematch between Lumberton and Dayton in the playoffs. I think the 3rd spot is going to be a close race between PNG, Central and Nederland. Only time will tell. Thats why they play the games! 1. Livingston 2. Lumberton 3. PNG 4. Central 5. Nederland 6. It's Happening!! Man Lonview is loaded and just dropped from 5A. Holy moly, Barbers Hill is in for a rude awakening. Longview was "THE" powerhouse of east Texas in 5A last year. Their enrollment just barely put them in 4A. They have one of the biggest, fastest and strongest rushing offenses in Texas. They beat 2 nationally ranked teams last year in #9 Lufkin and #2 John Curtis from New Orleans. After their first 2 drives I knew we were in trouble. That QB of theirs has so much accuracy and so many weapons at his disposal it was just a little too much for our Defense to handle. I would love to play Lake Travis again in pre district next year. Well now I am pulling for Lake Travis to beat Highland Park but time will tell.
