  1. The players will be notified this week from the umpires association and they can accept playing in one of the games. All of these players were nominated by their coaching staffs.
  2. There are certain rules UIL for the underclassman game so the umpire chapter is picking the coaches which cannot be current coaches. Current coaches can coach the senior game. I will say again this is not about winning or losing this game , it is about raising money to give back to the same kids for college scholarships
  3. have seen in quite a few responses on many threads where folks think all series should be 3 gamers.. But think about this... When you get to the State Tourny, it is one game semi and 1 game final. Yes you have to play 2 days in a row but still it is the the most important games and they are both 1 gamers. If the coaches don't agree then you flip the coin and play with the hand you are dealt.
  4. I have had the chance to call in a few big games at nederland, and that is the biggest crowd I have ever seen there for a game. Seen them down the lines before but they were 3 and 4 deep along the fence this time. Great fans for both sides was a fun game to be at.
  5. Thats what I heard on the street this afternoon. I was doing some undercover work posing as a bum with a bottle of MD 20/20 and heard 2 drug dealers talking about it.
  6. Everyone seems to think that the winner of this game will play Carthage. I actually think that Hutto will win that series. Carthage is not as dominate as they were last year. Hutto has been winning games and ranked high all year. Gonna be a great next couple of weeks to decide this region. Also the 3A state games will be held at Disch Faulk not Round Rock. Astro Turf at DF can be fun cause teams are not used to it.
  7. I really don't know, but the main thing is have a fun day and raise some money for the schorlarship fund. Everybody wins.
  8. There will be plenty of both. Coaches are nominating their players and we will choose from those.
  9. I believe in July. We have to see how much money we raise to know how many we can award and for how much money.
  10. There will be a game for graduated seniors and one for underclassman. Still looking at a few things but kinda hard to split up small and big schools or you would gave to many games.
  11. Tickets will be sold at the gate but we would like to sell as many as we can presale to get an idea of the crowd. Send me a message and I can meet some people in the Beaumont area to sell tickets.
  12. Yes it is. The local TASO Umpire chapter is going to host an Allstar game at Vincent Beck on Saturday June 14th. There are going to be 2 games at present one for seniors who have graduated and one for underclassman. Tickets will be 5.00 and will go to help fund our Schlorship fund. Last year we presented seven one thousand dollar schlorships to local ball players. The only way we can make this a huge success if you the fan come out to the ball park and support our fund. Tickets are available now. If you contact me through this website I can give you info on buying advanced tickets. MrUmp1
  13. ok just got home from watching Bridge City tonight. No one on pitcher starts to pitch then stops you have nothing. Even if the pitcher drops the ball it must cross the foul line to be a pitch otherwise with no one on you have nothing. As far as the force play. A runner going back to a bag on a fly even though he is out without a tag.. it is not a true force play. A force play is only if a runner is forced to a bag. On a double play, doesn't matter when the runner crosses home, if the double play lets say 6-4-3 is made then run does not count.
  14. Hector.. maybe i'm not getting you here but I don't care where it hits the batter if he is leaning out over the plate and does not make an attempt to move I am not giving him his base.
  15. Quoting Tone Loc.... That Medina is a Monsta !!!!!!Funky Cold Medina
  16. The rules state that a batter must make an attempt to get out of the way of a pitched ball that may hit him. Even if there was an inside batters box line, if a batter gets right up on it he is actually very close to the plate and could be leaning over. A batter may not lean into a pitch to get hit and if that pitch would have been a strike if it had not hit the batter then it is called a strike and the batter is not awarded first base. Now if a batter is in the middle of the box and a ball is thrown and hits him I am awarding him first base. You can tell if a batter is trying to get hit or not. If the pitcher can not get it close to the plate and if the batter wants to "take one for the team", I have no problem awarding first base. The batter may not do anything to intentionally get hit.
  17. ok if the playing days are over then he need to come over to the dark side.... I mean the blue side and put on the mask !!!!!!!
  18. Was this a High School game ???? What kind of "championship" game ????? Here is the deal.... If it wasn't a high school game and just a summer league game, then be glad you had a umpire there to call your game. There are not near enough umps to go around for summer league. Maybe this wasn't the best thing to do, but if it was a summer league game then everybody is just trying to enjoy themselves and enjoy a baseball game. Don't take it so seriously.
  19. Central Heights took game 1 by a score of 12-3. Bucs played a good game. Was 9-3 going to the 7th when CH scored 3 more runs in the top of the 7th. 1 pm 2nd game at Newton Saturday.
  20. I know this is a 3 game series starting Friday Night with possibility of 2 Saturday. I have heard Newton is the location. Will get more info first of the week.
  21. Tell me when.. playing the palms friday morning in a little scramble. As soon as i get the umping out of the way it will be links time.
  22. A runner must run in his normal motion and not do anything out of the ordinary to distract the fielder. What can make this call hard at times is.. did the runner slow up because he was avoiding being hit by a batted ball or was he trying to alter the play? I know if the fielder is in the baseline fielding a ball the runner must avoid contact and will not be penalized for altering his path to avoid contact. So once again, it's about the judgement of the umpire. Get your swing ready cause I got new irons and so far I am hitting them well !!!! Me and you Rhino, for the pink jacket lol
  23. Catcher interference. I hate when I hear of a kid stealing home and the batter swings. Al I can see is the ball hitting the runner right in the forehead. These are high schools kids and they missed signs.
  24. If there is going to be a play at the plate then the batter should vacate the area if he has time. If the home plate umpire feels like the batter interfered with the play then he can call the runner out and call the pitch however he may have seen it. I will say if I was a coach, I would not call a play like that because it has the potential for someone to get hurt. In your senario if the batter was in the very front of the box and didn't move, then the runner comming down third would have to go through the batter to get to the plate. The foul line runs from the back point of the plate outward through the batters box.
  25. I think you left out a lot of factors out of your question. #1 How do you know it was his first game? #2 What level of ball are you talking about #3 baseball, softball,???? And remember this thread is about rules, not what ump showed up to call a 8yr old pony director tournament. ( just a guess )
