  1. WAY TO GO PIRATES!!! Congratulations to Justin for setting a new rushing record at Deweyville. You are an awesome athlete and more than that you are a wonderful young man. CONGRATULATIONS to the team. It takes all of you working together to make each other successful. You really played TEAM ball again last night. Each and everyone of you should be proud of yourselves, your team and your coaches. It takes everyone working together to accomplish success as a team. Be RELENTLESS!!!!
  2. daddy5009 You are right. you are entitled to your opinion. But that doesn't give you the right to bash other people. Justin Williams is not only an excellent athelete and student but, most importantly he is a well respected young man on and off the field. He has something you apparently will never have, manners, respect for others and he never has to make himself feel better by name calling, putting other people down, or degrading an entire school and community. Justin is already a better man than you will ever be. No, I'm not his mom, just his neighbor. Deweyville is just as proud of their atheletes as any other school. Every school has a right to be proud of their students and atheletes. I find it hard to believe that you have scrimmaged many times against Zane Williams. He was standing on the field with the coaches, when they scrimmaged ya'll due to an injury.
  3. It's ashame that the only way you can make yourself feel better is to tear other people down. Justin Williams is not only an excellent football player, but he is something alot more important, a decent human being with respect for other people. Which is apparently more than you will ever be. NO, I AM NOT JUSTIN'S MOM. But I am his neighbor. But I know for a fact that he is a very respected young man on and off the field. Unless your mind matures those are things you will never be. We at Deweyville are very proud of all of our athelete's. Just like any other school. I know a running back from Deweyville that is going to college, playing baseball and working on a teaching, coaching, business and sports medicine degree. So you are wrong, all of our players don't end up working as bouncers at Club 87. There are many more athlete's from Deweyville that are going to college and/or working in many other places. You have a right to your own opinion, but you should have the decency and respect not to tear other people down.
  4. JV Deweyville 21 Buna 6 This was a great game. In the 4th quarter with 23 seconds left the score was 6-6. Deweyville scored and kicked extra point. Then intercepted Buna pass an ran it back for TD. It was a hard fought game. Mistakes on both teams. Deweyville was able to captialize on Cougar mistakes in the end.
  5. Coach Jackson and his familyare greatly missed by alot of us in Deweyville. But I am really glad that ya'll were blessed with a job closer to your family. I know they really enjoy you, Joni and their grandkids being closer to them. Ya'll take care and BEST wishes for a greatly successful career in Chireno. They are truly blessed to have ya'll.
  6. Great game by both teams. Great weather, hot chocolate and GREAT Chicken/Sausage Gumbo. Add a win by the RELENTLESS pirates and it was an AWESOME Friday nite football game.
  7. griff wrote: Alcohol should never be sold at a high school game. However, Nederland, PNG, LaMarque, and Brenham surely knew that Reliant would sell beer. So, if this was to be prevented, the schools could have played the games in another stadium. This was the call of the schools involved. It's a risk schools should not take, IMO. I agree with you griff. School events is no place for alcohol.
  8. They all are great running backs. Some have more yards than others because they have better offensive lineman blocking for them. All in all it's a team effort that helps a running back get his yards
  9. you said it DP#1fan! It was a GREAT game!!! BOTH teams played hard. They left it all on the field. AWESOME job pirates!!
  10. Justin Williams is Zane Williams' cousin. His brother his Ethan Williams. He plays both sides of the ball for Deweyville, just like his older brother, but Big "E" runs faster. "Z"-Train would run over players and Big "E" runs past them. Justin runs the ball alot like Zane did. I think Justin might break a couple of Zane's records if he stays healthy. From what I hear Zane has gone on to college to play baseball and is doing well.
  11. Big Red there is no need to talk so negative about Deweyville Pirates. Can't u just say you're for EC without talking negative about the Pirates? The players didn't make the schedule. Let old dogs lie. I think this will be a close game. It can go either way, depending on penalties and injuries. Even though we are the smallest school in our district, we have young men that play with alot of heart and determination, as do alot of the teams do on Friday night. That's what it's all about. Go out and play your heart out and leave everything you got on the field and hopefully it will be enough to end up with a win. But true fans support their team no matter what. Because no one walks on the field planning to lose. Good Luck Pirates!!! BE RELENTLESS!!!!!!!
  12. Way to go Deweyville Pirates. You got off to a rocky start the first quarter, but fought hard and kept working. Good job!! Congrats to the whole team.
  13. JAWS, you are so right. In the past , just like now the Pirate kids have had kids that always worked hard, no matter how hard you work if you only have 3 or 4 kids on the team with the natural ability and talent to play the game, it doesn't matter who the coach is, the odds are you won't win very many games. The difference this year, is we have a team of talented kids, that all work hard. They have the desire and the ability to play the game. We now have more than a couple of plays that we can run, because we have a passing game and a running game, that consists of more than a couple of players to get the ball to. Our defensive and our offensive players are aggressive and determined to give it their all on everyplay. This is also the first year we've only had 3 kids that start on both sides of the ball. It helps to be able to allow your players to rest, instead of playing every play of the game. Bickham didn't make this team what they are. Yes, he and his coaching staff has been an asset, but..........The kids have worked hard and stuck together and been thru some tough times. Their hard work, determination and dedication is the major reason the boys are being successful. We 've graduated some great talent as well as some boys who played but didn't care about the game. This year we have talented veteran players, talented new comers, and a good coaching staff. But most of all we play as a TEAM. Good Luck Pirates! You
  14. All the Deweyville bashing is pathetic. Yes, we have played 1A schools. (We are only about 40 kids above the 1A cutoff.) I too, wish we would have played some games against the bigger schools. Everyone in our district is bigger than us. But.....our team has been playing good, our boys have worked hard, they have some quality coaches. I don't expect us to go undefeated in district play, but I feel like we have a good shot at the playoffs. Some of you need to get out of the past and move on. The kids shouldn't be bashed for things they have no control over. Best of luck to all the teams in their respective districts. We all start 0-0 again. I pray everyone has an injury free season.Good luck to all.
  15. Yes Deweyville Pirate team, you are the smallest 2A school in our district, but you have a very talented team, with a big heart and relentless determination. Your fans are very proud of you.
  16. I'm replying on here because the kids of Deweyville don't deserve this mess and KIDS DO READ THIS SITE!!!!!! FirsthOops, thank you for speaking the truth. As always you are there for the kids. Our loss is definetly Chireno's gain. Deweyville Team, keep your heads up and take care of your responsibilites on the field and the rest will take care of itself. Yes, you've won some games, and yes we will probabley lose some games, but no matter what, do your best, and play as a team and you will get the job done.
  17. Congrats to Beau Hale. He is a well deserving young man. He has worked extremely hard to make his dreams come true. Way to go Beau!!!!
  18. Congrats Justin and all the rest of them team. Great blocking paves the way for great runs.
  19. Congrats to the Deweyville Pirates. Great job by the entire team. Keep up the good work guys.
  20. We are praying for President Driver, his family and teamates. I hope someone will post an update on his condition.
  21. Deweyville's Juniors Ethan Williams and Daryl Martin and Freshman Seth Williams are very good players. Senior Brett Solomon has a solid glove at first base, and does a pretty good job as relieve pitcher.
  22. Have you checked out any of the area 2A teams? Deweyville has a young team, with some great talent. They have 1 senior, 7 juniors, 3 sophmores and the catcher is a freshman.
  23. Deweyville's Zane Williams is playing at Angelina JC, check out their website at angelina.edu
