  2. How is Tatum overrated? he isnt as good as everyone makes him out to be.... but he is decent... he isnt better than any other quarterback coming out of png in recent years LOL, yeah I remember last year they were saying Tatum and PNG didn't have much of a passing game. I also remember how they beat L-Town, it was the passes, Tatum got a few good ones past our guys so don't count him out. He may not be a blue chipper but he seems to be effective. I just hope their squeaker against BH versus L-Towns out right win is a sign that Lumberton can pull it out on PNG in a few weeks when we play them in the 2nd game in their new stadium, what a bad spot to be in, at least we're not first.
  3. I come from a family of referees. My dad was a referee for 45 years, my uncle, his older brother, was one for closer to 50 years and even today scouts new referees for college and professional football and my brother has been a referee at high school and the college level for around 20 years. That being said the men I've met as officials for the most part have a lot of integrity, BUT, as in everything else there are exceptions. I remember the first year Ozen played varsity, my uncle went into the dressing room at half time during the L-Town Ozen game and reamed the team for the calls they were making, this team was obviously trying to give the game to Ozen, Lumberton managed to win but by coincidence they only won by 3 points while they needed 4 to make the playoffs, Ozen made it instead, never quite figured out how they could lose there way into the playoffs. Anyway, this team made several blatantly bad calls, but unless you saw money or something else being exchanged there's not alot a team can do. The coaches need to protest this to the UIL if they feel they were shortchanged, as with Lumberton, this won't change the outcome but it could get bad officials off the field.
  4. I just love the fact that the 8-7 score is still the most important score in your life. When the game against LaMarque is one of the most remembered to Train Fans. But glad we can make you feel so bad for a year. LOL Mav, to you the LaMarque game may have been the most memorable, but to me, it was the Dayton game hands down. In my opinion, that game showed how much guts both the coach and the boys had. I mean, had it been Fuller, we'd have tried the pat kick but coach Creduer pulled out the big huevos and went for it all, win or lose. I think that game had more to do with our winning season than anything else. Just my humble old fart opinion.
  5. Are you messing with us? I think there is a UIL rule for football that you can't play teams more than 1 class over or under you. For example a 1A can't play a 3A or higher and a 2A can't play a 4A or higher. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.... I'm not sure if that's true or not, but i'd bet they went and got an exemption if that's the case just to put some normalcy into the area.
  6. What do you think Central is? Man you guys are out of site! Lumberton has to beat a 4A opponebt before I give them props. Ozen has to win a game before they cross my mind. So right now I see this. WHo has seen Livingston? Right now this is how I see it since Ned can't stop the run!... Central PNG Vidor NED Barbers Hill is 4A Not only are they 4-A but PNG squeaked by them, Lumberton just left a grease spot on the field.......Livingston from my understanding was in a pretty soft district last year, I think they won't even make the post-season this year.
  7. Yes, but they are a 3a school. A avg/good 4a school should beat a GREAT 3a school. As much as I dislike Hooks and his teams, you have to respect the powerhouse that West Orange is, I'm wondering if Layingemdown has ever seen them play. The Mustangs can hold there own with any 4-a team in the area, as they are one of the largest if not the largest 3-a schools around here. Remember they only miss 4-a status by a few students. I personally will be happy when people realize that Lumberton will be in the playoffs for several years to come, my pick: 1. or 2. PNG 1. or. 2 Lumberton 3. Vidor 4. Central And win or lose I want to see Lumberton play WOS again in the near future, I think we can pull one out on them.
  8. Proof that they let everyone get on here even those that know very little about sports. Now I was asked to explain something and everyone that was at the game Friday in Lumberton will understand. I said going into last week that sometimes it looks like Coach C is as much or more concerned about teaching things in the preseason than winning. I was told I was crazy. Ok here it is Folks. Lumberton was running the ball at will against BH. after getting the lead The Raiders had several series where you could tell that Coach C was tring to get the young QB Ryan some confidence they went out and started throwing the Ball. At least once maybe more they went out and went 3 and out and threw all 3 times. You could hear the fans groan, but I thought it was a good idea to get Ryan some passes. In our District people will stack the line if they think we cant throw at all. Great Job Coaches, Players and Fans. See yall in Silsbee where we win I wont say Big because Coach C is not that kind of Coach that runs up the score. Mav, you and I are on the same wave length, I walk the L-Town fence line with some of my friends and one of them started complaining about the coach going to a passing game there for awhile. I told him that I figured the coach was trying to get the QB some work on his accuracy. You can see when the boy throws that he has an arm, once he gets more accurate he will get to be a serious theat in the air.
  9. I gotta get in on this one, 8 - 7, it might as well have been a thousand points. A win is a win is a win is a win.......... ;D
  10. I just wonder what Alphonso is thinking (I've called him by so many different names I've actually forgotten his real name), I wish there was a saturday smack attack so we could listen and smack back.
  11. BH offense actually looked pretty good, especially around the corners, unfortunately for them and fortunately for us our "suspect" secondary turns out to be really good. BH did makes some good moves around the outside corners though. Only problem I saw was the coaches depend on that quarterback to run the ball too much, they need to work on a running back and let the quarterback do his quarterbacking. If he gets hurt, and I pray he doesn't, it'll be because they are running him way too much. Lumberton's defense up the middle seems to be really really strong this year, they will carry us into the playoffs. We just need to work on that quarterbacks' passing, he has a good arm but his accuracy isn't very good as of yet. At least they put the stops on the fumbling this week, only 2, back to back of course, in the fourth quarter. Now let's work on penalties coach.
  12. I'm of course leaning for L-Town, probably by no more than one touchdown, my hope though is that BH gets a real good working out and goes against Dayton soon and BEATS them by 1 point like L-Town did, yes that was BEATS, so that the Dayton Burros fans can whine for a year about someone else........ [move]CHOO CHOO.....[/move][move]GO BIG BLUE!!!!![/move]
  13. The Lumberton visitors side is big compared to alot of schools as up until about 5-10 years ago(?) they remodeled the stadium and the visitors side at the time was the home side. That's why unlike alot of schools Lumberton has a Press/Coaches box on both sides of the stadium.
  14. I didn't say that they were a bad team. Just that W.B. was better Mr. A.D.D. I can't read. You still haven't explained your point as to why Dayton should not be in our poll at all. I am all ears. Since you are full of answers why don't you tell me why they should be in besides you saying "we will continue to include them after the realignment". Crosby isn't that much further, include them. All heck just put that whole district in. It would make more since. Not fair to the teams in that district that would like to be ranked to who they play. I could go on forever with this. I'm sorry you don't have the intelligence to figure it out. This is like talking to my 3yr old. You can say things till your purple in the face and they look at you like deer looking at head lights. How is it not fair to those teams? They have never been in our site area but Dayton is. Jasper's district hasn't a team that we have covered, should we stop covering them too? Also West Brook and PAM, should we stop covering them? Please answer these questions. You say Crosby isn't much farther and that is true but this site decided where the line would be drawn and that's that. We realized that we would be covering some districts partially but that was what we thought was best. It's all about our membership and our site area, not what district a team may be in. Obviously you can't see past your spite of Dayton. I know I'm gonna get dawged for this but here goes, first of all this is just more smack after listening to the smack attack Friday night, in particular what PROFESSOR Bull said and in response again to Alfrogo or Asternaro or Alfonso, whatever his name is..... First, Dayton isn't as good as they obviously think they are, they do have a few extremely talented guys but without them, not much of a team. Second, I wonder if they greased any palms to get into a district with 3 brand new teams playing their first ever varsity season, [move]talking about being handed a playoff spot[/move]. I just hope they can manage a sole district championship. The way I figure it, the Burros, whoops I mean broncos fans are still sore because Lumberton snuck a win by them, just goes to show the L-Train never gave up. Lumberton had a genuinely good team last year considering there were NO blue chip prospects on the team, it took the ENTIRE unit to win the way they did, and they really should get props considering that the first time they ever made it into the playoffs, they won at least a share of the district championship. The Raiders played as a team and the coach pushes that team concept and they will do the same this year. Will they do as well as last year? Personally I don't know, I sure hope they do, I think they will make the playoffs, but it will be higher than 4th place, more like at least 2nd place..............who knows...........we'll just have to wait and see.
  15. Depends on how big a hit, but for the most part a game or two would be cancelled since it is preseason is my guess.
  16. yeah, everyone knows black and gold is original. No insult to Vidor meant.
  17. Well well, you just must be some bad dude to just bust right through the line and tackle a running back. Dude...it was a scrimmage with the 2nd string playing most of the time. Some of you HF people seem to always bring up that scrimmage like it really meant something. I don't know who it was that said this last year...maybe one of the HF coaches or something said...they weren't impressed with Lumberton at all last year during the scrimmage and bla bla bla...then Lumberton goes and pulls off the season that they did. So you HF fans just keep putting a lot of stock into that SCRIMMAGE last year and see where that gets you. What's the difference in them talking bout that scrimmage and you'll talking bout LAST YEARS SEASON? Hey Lumberton 2008 is here just thought I'd let you'l know. Guys scrimmages are nothing but practice, they don't mean much at all. I remember one year Lumberton apparantly spanked West Orange-Stark at a scrimmage, but, as of yet, they've never beat WOS during a regular game. The day we do will be an extremely happy day for me. To me, bringing down Hooks' team would be sweeeeeeet. Coach, put 'em on the schedule.
  18. you must be smokin sumthin. There is no way, even if you get lucky and beat the Horns I can assure you it won't be by that much. Our defense will be very "SALTY" this year. Good, that extra "SALT" will keep our players from cramping up on the first game while they eat the horns D up. ;^)
  19. I guess tradition means alot, otherwise Nederland shouldn't even be in the top 10.
  20. And one add on to Maverick's statement. Who beat LaMarque in the playoffs? It took a pretty good Defense to do that.
  21. I agree I am SO friggin' excited to see the season get underway. L-Town 4th place? We'll see...........
  22. Maybe it's becuase I was in the band, but me I watch the halftime activities because those kids work every bit as hard as the football players and need our support too. But, that don't stop me from responding to my buddies talking about what went on.........multitask.
